Nervous about cooking?

first of all, I must say that you are soo sweet to take the initiative and decide to do the cooking while your mom is recovering even though she didn't ask you to. This will take a great load off her mind and it is the right thing to do:)
Remember never to cook anything on high, it is not necessary and it will end up burning the food.
A pan will stay hot for awhile, even if the burner or oven is off, so if you are worried about overcooking a delicate food, such as fish or eggs, turn off the heat when it is not QUITE done, and let the hot pan finish the cooking for you. (this is an especially good trick to prevent overcooking if the other parts of the meal are not ready yet and the food will be sitting in the pan for a bit before serving.)
If something is cooking too fast or about to burn, take it off the heat! set it on a cold burner or hold it up off the burner for a bit to slow the cooking down, and make sure to turn down the burner before setting the pan back onto it.
Have all of your ingredients ready(everything cleaned and cut up, water boiling, oven heated, pans and utensils out, measurements made) BEFORE you start cooking. this will make sure that you are not trying to do too much at once and the timing of the meal will be correct. chicken and broccoli are great, but not if the broccoli is turning cold while the chicken still has 10 minutes to cook!
Make sure to clean up after your delicious meal is finished! you can do pre-cleanup if you have some wait time while things are cooking, that way you have alot less to clean up afterwards when you are full and wanting to relax. Just don't get so caught up pre-cleaning that you neglect your primary job of cooking that food:)
Use your instincts to tell when things are done. Oftentimes I'll just KNOW when the fish or the veggies are done! and I'm usually right:) and don't be scared, most people are nervous when they start something new, but look at it this way: you would've had to have jumped in by yourself eventually, so why not start now?? You'll be fine! GOOD LUCK:D

I have a red round bump on my face and it has no puss and it'd been there for weeks?

You are describing what might be a 'papule' or 'furuncle'. A papule is a small, raised bump. It may be due to infection of the glands in the skin, or the skin itself (like acne). A furuncle is an infected hair follicle most commonly colonized by Staphylococcus aureus. These present early as a firm, tender red nodule early. They may be mild to moderately painful. As the infection progresses, there may be pus.

Warm compresses are used to increase circulation to the area, and let the furuncle drain.

I agree with Anna21. There looks like good advice on the following page:

(Sometimes, people with real experience treating their problems have better advice than going to a doctor.)

You may consider using an antibacterial soap over the surface of the skin to prevent spread. If the lesion is severe (e.g. very large), consider getting antibiotics from your doctor.

Also consider getting antibiotics if the lesion is near or on the nose. Behind the nose, there are a series of veins connected to what is called the 'cavernous sinus'. Infections near the nose area can invade into these blood vessels, and spread through your body causing severe sickness.

Hope that helps!

Head lice keeps coming back, cannot get rid of the lil critters?

I have had experience in this and the RID did NOT work however I have a cheaper way. And it works..first you put your kids in the tub..take Heavy olive oil pour it over your kids heads.make sure they dont breath it in!!! This will suffocate the lil bas*****!!!

then take a plastic bag wrap it around the head then place a towel over that secure it..Leave it on overnight..the next morning rinse with DAWN this will cut the oil..then take Vinager (white) pour it over the head (this will remove the gum around the eggs) Then with heavy conditioner take a comb Lice comb or a rat tailed comb start at the base of the head and work each by inch..I know this is tiresome but you have to do it. MAKING SURE YOU WIPE THE COMB AFTER EVERY SWIPE ON A PAPER TOWEL THAT IS GOING INTO A PLASTIC BAG!! Rinse the hair..put on a leave in conditioner, blow dry the hair, and put hairspray on..Lice do not like hair with product in it this is why kids in grade school get it more then middle school or high school kids who gunk up their hair..and yes hair dye will kill the ones in your hair..but you must first do the oil vinger thing first!! This worked after 2 months of struggling!! It sounds like alot but it will work!! i will this school year put spray and blow dry my girls hair before school..(lice hate heat) But the lil boogers can hold their breath for a very long time under water this is why you cant wash them out..but oil will suffocate them just MAKE SURE YOUR KIDS HEADS ARE TILITED BACK SO THEY DONT BREATH IN THE OIL!!!! Hope this helps!!
