Can I learn SQL on my own?
I am registered for a class at my community college for SQL basics. I know a little about SQL. I work with Oracle's SQL developer in my day job. My question is this; Learning SQL will put me in line for a promotion soon but money is tight with a newborn. So, I am curious how hard SQL is to learn on my own rather than shelling out the $500+ for a college course. I am computer literate. I build my own and know hardware. I seem to have a pretty good grasp when it comes to software. I managed to teach myself Crystal Reports in less than a day and can already do basic queries with SQL Developer. It is Just the more complicated things like loops and pulling from multiple tables that trips me up. I also have many people in my office who are good with SQL and are willing to share their knowledge. I am interested in taking the class, but could use the money elsewhere for now. Thoughts?

If you are on windows you can use wampp .If you are on Linux go with LAMP.YOU can install all applications separately also.LAMP is an acronym for Linux (operating system), Apache HTTP Server, MySQL (database software), and PHP. If you're running Windows the acronym is WAMP.XAMPP is a package you can use to easily install and configure a (in your case) WAMP or LAMP setup.XAMPP is the specific name for the package by Apache Friends (apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html). LAMP, WAMP, MAMP, SAMP, FAMP, and OpAMP (I'm probably still forgetting some... ;)) are acronyms to indicate a certain web server set-up. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAMP_(software_bundle) for more information. I'm sure XAMP (note the missing P at the end) is used as a synonym for AMP though.
