Led On Motherboard On But Not Powering Up

PC not booting, error 26 on motherboard LED.?

Jim is right that your PSU can be dying (ie not producing enough power) and cause issues. Plus Abit in the past has made some really lousy PSUs and yours might be one of them (just saying because you need to keep an open mind when troubleshooting)

You didn't post what graphics card you have. And Starcraft 2 is fairly graphics intensive. It's possible you fried your graphics card. If you've got a spare graphics card that you can test drive, try that and see if your system will come up.

If you've got a multimeter, test the PSU.

What I would do first though is the most simplistic: take out RAM/and reseat; disconnect PSU from MOBO/reconnect; take out graphics card/reseat (you already did this of course). Even try booting up with one RAM chip at a time (this will determine if a chip is bad, or if a RAM slot is bad) Sometimes these can clear up issues. I don't think this will solve your problem but it's worth a shot.

IMO you've either got a bad PSU, graphics card or your MOBO is fried. I'm leaing toward the graphics card but that's just a gut feeling. Only further testing will confirm.

Computer Case Power On Switch to Motherboard help?

I have a H-Alvorix-Rs880-uatx motherboard and I just purchased a new Computer case, the Antec 300. I have everything connected to its proper place however I can't figure out where the Power Sw, Reset Sw, Power LED and H.D.D. LED connectors go to. My rig was working with its old case, however the graphics card was overheating mainly due to small case (P7-1054) and not enough cooling hence why I got this case. Help please.

CMOS Battery Holder On Laptop Has Come Away From Motherboard?

Hi!

I have a Dell Studio 1558, if that makes any difference, and recently I have been noticing that the time has not been correct on my laptop every time I turn it on. I decided this was due to a flat CMOS battery so I replaced it. After replacing it and turning the laptop on, it beeped five times before it got to the Windows loading screen and said that the time was incorrect. It then gave me the option to either go into the BIOS and change it or proceed into Windows. I went into the BIOS and saw that the time had been reset back to 2009. I changed it back to normal but now every time I turn the laptop on the same thing happens. I opened up my laptop and saw that the positive connection of the CMOS battery holder had come away from the motherboard. It was still touching it but it is not properly soldered onto the motherboard. I tried using a piece of cardboard to push the battery holder down while the back cover was on the laptop. This didn't help and I don't know what to do. If I brought it to a computer repair shop would they be able to re-solder it? And if so, how much do you think it would cost?

Thanks for any advice :)

Asrock z77 pro3 Motherboard Bios Update=No boot-up. HELP!?

I have a asrock z77 pro3 motherboard that i bought a year ago. It has worked fine until about 2 weeks ago when my computer was unable to sleep. The monitors would stop recieving signal but my computer would stay powered. (Fans, lights) When put to sleep the computer would also become unresponsive. (Mouse, keyboard, and yes I configured my wake devices and multimedia settings) i narrowed it down to a bios issue, so i decided to update my bios to the newest one. I read the instructions given and began to update the bios. When i was asked to restart my computer i did. Eventually it went to the black screen, but nothing more. By black screen i mean that my monitors arent recieving any signal from the computer (the issue is NOT the monitors) no signal comes from the graphics card (gtx 560ti) or the vga out on the motherboard. Ive tried restarting, repowering, unplugging the psu, practically everything i could do. The computer does power up but the monitors recieve no signal from the computer. HELP ME. I could provide links if they would help

Dell demension c521 not powering up?

The LED that you see on the motherboard is there to tell you that the motherboard is receiving power from the power supply. The best way to tell if the power supply is having difficulty is to go to your local computer parts store, like TigerDirect or someplace like that, and pick up a power supply tester for a few dollars.

Assuming that the power supply itself is fine, then it could be that the fuse on the motherboard has blown, and that the "power good" signal is not being recieved. Without this voltage on the motherboard, it will not boot up, it's designed that way.

If the fuse is bad, you would want to see if you can order a replacement motherboard, but since it's a Dell computer, be prepared for sticker shock when you do. To make things easier for you, here is Dell's support phone number: 866-203-6875

Good luck, and I hope that helps.

What are the symptoms of a faulty motherboard?

Without getting too technical, and assuming all your peripherals and power supply is good, some signs are: unit does not power up; unit powers up but there's no video ( if board has integrated graphics and no card); unit powers up but doesn't get past splash screen..in other words it's not seeing the boot disk though it's good; unit freezes up randomly ( just like a bad disk or power supply), unit randomly reboots..board regulators are bad; no audio if audio is integrated..no sound card; and some of the ports ( USB, HDMI, etc.) won't work and don't show up in the device list. Their drivers will or will not install either. Most motherboards can not be repaired without special equipment, so if yours has any of these symptoms, consider getting a new one that will accept the same CPU and memory.

LED lights on motherboard stay lit eventhough pc is completely off?

Most electronics now will power LED's off of the "Phantom Power" that they pull from the wall just by being plugged in but not actually on. It's really up to the motherboard manufacture on this one. Sometimes is normal like with TV's and other electronics.

Asus P4P800-E Deluxe will not power on after cmos battery replacement?

Make sure the battery is larger diameter up, or out. Did you use the clear CMOS jumper on your MOBO? Make sure that the jumper is back to the position is was before you moved it. You can't leave the jumper on the reset pins and start it. Just jump it for a couple seconds and place it back on the previous pins. If that jumper is set wrong, it will not start. Saftey reasonsI imagine. So nothing gets fried.
