Left Knee Injury After Basketball

In basketball is it a foul if my knee hits the defender while I'm doing a layup?

It depends on many factors, did the defensive player have legal guarding position, who initiated the contact and was the contact significant or incidental? If the defensive player established legal guarding position* prior to you going up in your jumping motion to shoot the lay-in and the contact displaced or hinderes the defensive player (very likely as knees are tough to go through). Then yes you committed an offensive or player-control foul. If the defensive player did not have legal guarding position they unless the referee judges you are intentionally trying the knee your opponent it could quite possibly be a defensive foul.*Legal guarding position is established by a defensive player getting both feet on the court while having their chest facing the offensive player. After it (LGP) has been established the player is allowed to move laterally or backwards, but not forwards toward the offensive player. This is where the myth that you must always have both feet on the ground to draw a charge comes from. There is some truth to it, but it is not always required. Also note in FIBA, NCAA and NBA rules there is a restricted area underneath the basket inside which a secondary defender cannot legally establish LGP no matter what.

Can I play basketball with a bruised knee?

Hello,

I recently got a pretty big contusion on my left knee as a result of a collision with another player. I've been putting ice on it and currently it's tender to touch and its all black with some blood pooling underneath.

I practiced with it on Monday and I didn't feel that much pain, althought I did feel some discomfort. My question is, is it safe to play on Monday with a bruised knee? If not, how long should I wait?

Thanks!

Knee injury!!! Please help!?

Okay my friend has posted this but has only gotten a couple answers so here is his question

"First of all I can't go to a doctor, my mom recently lost her job which means no health insurance and even when we get it it will just be a small amount to hold my family over until my mother is able to get a new job

So here's the story a little over two months ago I hurt my knee pretty badly. I was playing soccer with my friends and i was running up to put pressure on one of my friends. I'm not too sure exactly how it happened but I think it was because I shifted right then jerked left. When i went left my knee just gave out and I heard popping, softer than when people crack their knuckles. I don't remember falling but next thing I know I'm on the ground it felt like I couldn't move my knee, but I did I could put a small amount of weight on it but it was very, well, unstable, for lack of a better word. I kept convincing myself I'd be fine. Slowly it got better, i stopped using crutches after about 2 weeks. Its gone from the loose state it was in to being stiff then to almost normal. Almost.

It's been two months now and it still hurts I'm thinking it's a ligament problem. as soon as I could walk without crutches (and kinda before) I started playing sports I didn't miss a single karate class so I haven't been really taking it easy. My friend had a knee injury a couple weeks after me and know he needs surgery so I'm kinda freaking out. Also if I hit it or bump it on something it hurts I cant kneel or put weight on it in that manner

Does it sound like I may need surgery or should I just wait it out. As soon as we have good health insurance I'm getting it checked out but until then I gotta wait but I'd like to know your thoughts.

If you need more details just ask I'll post additional details as needed. I did post this question earlier but under a messed up tittle

Thanks in advance

It hurts extremely when it locks out or I make fast movements

also a couple weeks ago I fell down the stairs and landed on it. It was very painful"

Can you guys help him?!?! also I was playing soccer with him when it happened, we carried him off the field propped it up and got him ice after he rested we helped him home. If this were ever to happen again what should we do differently that may help?

Why do basketball players put ice on their knees???

Its just to help the soreness and swelling...because a lot of these big guys have tendonitis...From all the jumping and running...It takes a toll on the knee joints. The more weight a player has the more likely that they are prone to knee injuries from dunking and jumping up and down.

Side hurts after basketball?

I went to my friends house and played a lot of basketball. We adjusted the hoop and were dunking (I did a lot of dunking with the arm on the side that now hurts) and the next morning I woke up and my side hurt when I moved it. Now it's 2 days later and when I laugh and Cough it still hurts. It feels like my muscles are what are hurting but I am not sure. What could of happened and when will it heal? Thanks.

How do you prevent from getting bad knees in basketball?

Ultimately you cannot prevent it. Avoidance depends on style of play, your body structure and musculature, and ultimately luck. Landing on someone's foot, a slippery spot on the floor or a collision can be the cause of lifelong knee difficulties. With that said you can't worry about it while you're in your playing career. If you spend time on worrying about it, you may be better off being a spectator.I played from age 12 until 38. One knee replacement done, one to go.

While playing basketball, someones knee collided with my knee. What injury is it?

In Sports lyk basketball tennis and soccer you make fast turn or sharp so u change directions quick I u collide knees with some1 you could possible tear a tendon or scrape meniscus. If it hurts to just walk Straight on it. It may be just sore. if it hurts to twist most likely something is wrong. Ice and heat. Maybe see a doctor. Good luck I tore my Lateral meniscus in soccer well another gurl did and i ended up getting surgery. Hope u have bettr luck

Sports Injuries: I have an A.C.L tear in my left knee. I got it while playing basketball. What are a few exercises I can learn to recover as fast as possible?

In EH (100% herbal medicines), A combination of S3C4GE plus massage with nervon oil can help get rid of the pain and heal the wear n tear. These kinda injury may take 1 - 3 weeks to recover.
