Left Side Of My Face Pain

Pain on left side of face?

Could be sooooo many things...
Could be an abscessed tooth (my first guess)
An ear infection
A sinus infection

I would suggest that you call your Dr if these symptoms don't go away in the next 12-24 hours. Infection, no matter where it comes from (ear, tooth, nose) can be very serious. Since this has come on suddenly and so severely, were you my child or husband, I would have you at the Dr's (or an Urgent care place) today...

DISCLAIMER: I am not a Dr or healthcare professional, nor do I play one on TV.... (lol)

The left side of my face hurts?

OK.

Well, this is a bit tough to figure out, though the pain on the face in this distribution can be related to a coming attack of the "shingles" (herpes zoster).

The pain can radiate in the distribution of particular nerves, in this case, the trigeminal nerve, and can be associated with a rash that may appear over the next few days (which would confirm the diagnosis).

so this is something to watch out for, and if the rash develops -- talk to your doctor as soon as possible.

Facial pain can also come from issues with the nerves in the face, such as "trigeminal neuralgia" or "cluster" headaches -- but the pain from these are usually shorter and sharper in quality.

Sinus pains, dental pains, and pains that radiate from the jaw (TMJ) can also cause such pains.

So, unfortunately, if this continues -- seeing a doctor would be best. Taking advil or aleve may help better than the tylenol for this pain, but stronger medications would be prescribed by your doctor.

Whole left side of face in pain...?

the first thing i felt was a toothache on the left side of my mouth but now it has turned into my jaw feeling locked and is hard to open my mouth all the way...its hard to even chew any food on this side...whats hurting me the most is my ear, it feels plugged and the pain is unbearable...its hard to hear from it and the pain gets even worse when i lay down to fall asleep, but when i stand up or sit up all i can hear is a long continuous beeping sound ...has anyone experienced this before? also what actions were done to cure it?

i will be going to the doctors tomorrow, i just wanna know what it might be in advance and what to expect

and on another note, the one thing that worries me the most is that I'm 7 weeks pregnant, and I'm hoping this wont cause any harm to my baby

When the tri-geminal nerve becomes irritated, an attack of intense pain results. Also called tic douloureux(stabbing pain to one side of the face) because of the uncontrollable facial twitching caused by the pain, trigeminal neuralgia is serious because it interferes with many aspects of a person's life. This can be cause of some Neck exercise which went wrong or tooo much stress on one side of the eye while watching TV or using your computer or Grinding your teeth a lot during stress. Sitting too close to the TV or Computer. Whiplash (neck injury), poor posture and long hours at computer, physical stress.

It could be many things from wisdom tooth pain, “TMJ” temporomandibular joint dysfunction which can be solved from a dentist adjusting your bite. If a tooth is to high when you bite down to other tooth issues. To sinuses, all sorts of things. Basically, you need to see your doctor first and he will tell you if you need to see a dentist or if he can help you if it is something else. I wish I could help more but I am a nurse only. You need to be seen to get a proper diagnosis. Sorry your in such pain but as soon as you do this you'll be closer to feeling better.

I have pain in the left side of my face, kinda weird feelin in my cheeks,my tooth hurts and my ear hurts??

Toothache pain isn't always persistent, but would hurt more when you're ill because you may have swelling from sinuses.

Try pouring Hydrogen peroxide in your ear, it will feel weird because it bubbles up.
Gargle with very warm salt water, focus on left side.
Try Mucinex. It works great. It loosens mucus.
Use saline nasal spray several times/day.

Does sound like beginning of sinus infection. Remember if mucus turns yellow or green you have a bacterial infection & will need an antibiotic.

Feel better.

Numbness in the left side of my face?

Goodness! I wish I could just take you to the doctor myself! Sir, you could have had a stroke and not even know it. Strokes aren't limited to a certain age group. Please, please go to a doctor! Ask a family member for help or set up a payment plan or SOMETHING! This cannot go unchecked. This is the twenty first century my friend, anything is possible. If you had a minor stroke, you may not even know, and a major stroke can follow anywhere from minutes to days later. You could be saving your life by getting this problem checked out. This is a warning!

Left side of face hurts?

The mouth pain is from TMJ and the other pains are from tight muscles in your neck. When your neck muscles are tight they also restrict the throat. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head so they also pass right inside of your ear so if they are tight there they can be pressing on the nerves for your ears. Here's how to free up those muscles to get rid of these pain by releasing them: Jaw muscles, TMJ: Put your fingers on your head so your thumbs are behind your ears. Press into the back of your jaw next to the skull and hold that pressure. After 30 seconds slowly raise your head until your neck is fully extended then open your mouth as far as you can. Release the pressure but hold your head and mouth like that for another 30 seconds. Neck Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Worst, Severe Pain on Left Side of Face, Can't Sleep, PLEASE HELP!?

Was wondering how your boyfriend is doing? My husband is going through the same conditions and we were shocked at how exactly similar his experience was. Because of your post we were able to figure out what was going on more quickly than researching each symptom separately. He was misdiagnosed with a sinus infection, and after watching him suffer such intense pain all week, I took him to the Er. The ER doctor decided to try a shot of dental novacain. Initially, it only numbed the face and mouth, but didn't take the pain away. Eventually, within around an hour, the shot helped block the pain enough for him to FINALLY fall asleep, after not sleeping for three days straight. I can't imagine watching someone experience that for a whole month...
We still don't know the exact problem and we are worried the pain will return, but at least we now know a way to temporarily relieve the pain for awhile. I should mention that we had also went to an oral surgeon and chiropractor and neither believe this is a tooth issue, but the novacain injection in the inside of the cheek did help. I hope this helps you or others get faster relief then spending hours, days, or weeks trying to figure this out. Nobody should ever have to watch their loved one screaming in pain like they are being tortured and NOONE should ever suffer that way.

I had horrible face pain for over 25 years. Like a burning mask on my face. No opiate or other pain-managed medicine helped in the least. I underwent years of MRI study. I even tried to control the pain by joining a group at Stanford that studied these kinds of pain that wouldn't go away. They used an FMRI to look at my brain colors.Nothing. I worked anyway, full time and more, for an international bank as a VP. I went to every hockey game, though, putting ice on my face. Plus all the extra stuff I was required to do, speeches at schools, volunteer things, and I was a Rotarian. How I did it looking back I have no idea. I was in a car crash that broke my neck 8 years ago and was referred to a pain doctor. I uselessly told him about the face pain. With one eyebrow raised he said " Here, take this".He had a sample. Presto! Freedom in one pill. I can't explain the relief! Diagnosis: Trigeminal Neuralgia.Drug: Anti seizure generic medicine. That's all! Now I tell people and everyone seems to know about the disease. It's all over YouTube. The pain is caused by a nerve in the brain that activates during certain times. My triggers werewind, stress, and chewing. PLEASE check this out. Get well!
