Legal Question About Court Docs.

Is a court document legal if the wrong name is on it?

My ex-wife is taking me to court with some seriously false claims (irrelevant). Anyway, her name on all the paperwork is with MY last name, even though she is remarried and has legally taken her current (3 years now) husband's name. Are these documents even valid? Or can I make her re-file them?

Does what I tweet hold up in court as a legal document?

Well, it can be admissible as evidence in many instances, if that's what you mean. It can be evidence of many things, including defamation, conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, breach of contract, and countless other unlawful activities, if it can be shown that a tweet originated with the owner of the account from which it was sent. Ultimately a jury will decide how important and probative it is."Legal document" is a very broad concept. Can a tweet be a contract? If you tweeted, "PM me a picture of your dick and I'll send you $100," .... there's at least an argument to be made that if someone does PM you a picture of his private parts you have created an offer and acceptance, the building blocks of a contract. Eventually much of this will be litigated and we'll have a better idea of the legal implications of tweets. But the best thing you can do is to assume that every one of your tweets is going to show up on a courtroom easel blown up to 24" x 36", and tweet accordingly.

Legal court lingo, what type of document is this?

It looks eerily something like (not that it is so) Transfer Deed of Assignment of Rent or something like that. It could mean your long-lost relative could have transferred to another person his right to collect on rent, or asked somebody to pay rent on his or behalf. Nothing to do with marriage, death, fathering or mothering a child, divorce, etc.
Try to get the address of the place referred to in that document. It should provide you with a lead.
Hope it helps.

Is it legal to post public court documents on Facebook so the extended family can see what is being said?

Court records are public documents. Post away

Is a photograph considered a legal "document" in court?

As long as the photo is properly introduced at trial to establish who took the photo, using what camera, on what date, that the photo has not been altered, and that it accurately depicts the scene at the time it was taken. These are the standard elements needed to establish “foundation” for the introduction of such evidence. The Court then determines whether the photo is admissible as evidence under pertinent rules and laws. Alternatively, the parties may stipulate that “foundation” is unnecessary, and/or that the photo may be admitted as evidence without objection.

Can a wife that is a notary sign a legal document for court for her husband?

Yes she can but she should not.The wife is a notary by virtue of the special notarial powers vested in her and on the other hand, as an individual and in her personal capacity she is a wife of her husband who is presenting the legal document in the court. There is no strict rule or law barring the wife attesting the said legal document of her husband. But on the other hand moral principles disallow her to attest the said legal document which is to be submitted by her husband in the court.Notaries are expected to be impartial witnesses to the document being attested by them , so morally the wife should refrain from attesting the said legal document of her husband in order to avoid being a deemed interested party to the document.Wife's implied interest in the matter may be inferred by the court, whivh may cast suspicion in the view of the court in respect of the matter in issue which may thus effect the decision of the case in the hand of the court. Why invite unnecessary situations when they can be avoided by getting the said document attested by another notary.Disclaimer: above is not a legal advice to constitute a client attorney relationship between us.

Can you use a alias on court documents to file?

Is bob brown the same as say william brown or example Rick is the same as birth name richard on court documents and .... are those documents filed under an "nick name" or "alias" valid under the law?

Federal racketeering question?

My question is straightforword, but twofold:
1) Is there one specific court in which federal racketeering charges are prosecuted? I don't know if this is a simple answer or not, but the reason I ask leads me to my next question.
2)The reason that I'm asking this is because I am looking for legal filings related to a family member from a federal racketeering case in the early 1990s. Is there any specific (and preferably free) online (or if not, some kind at least) resource where I can access the full text of the court documents detailing the charges (i.e. the indictment or other similar documents)?

Thank you very much for your time, and I hope that this isn't too complicated of a question.
