Liberals Why Did Germans Say Obama In Berlin Is No Ronald Reagan

Is Ronald Reagan a cult of personality?

omg YES!

just talk to some of his admirers. they get this vacant look in their eyes and start extolling his virtues, opining about everything from how he single-handedly tore down the berlin wall brick by brick with his bare hands while dodging the bullets being sprayed at him by the east german border gaurds to how he single-handedly "rebuilt" our entire military from the ground up, blistering himself with welding torches and irradiating himself assembling the navy's atomic reactors with his bare hands.

just don't mention the fact that he declined to visit a concentration camp on that same trip to germany and instead laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown SS soldier.

they tend to get a little violent if you broach that subject.

Do Democrats also love Ronald Reagan?

I think that any “Democrat” who loved Reagan has long since become a Republican.Today, if you ask Republicans, they seem to remember an America where everyone shared their hagiographic portrayal of the man. But this isn’t a question of opinion; it is, as always, a matter of data.As you can see, Reagan had his ups and downs among Democrats, but his approval rating among them peaked below 40%. Now, by today’s standards of hyperpolarization, that’s really high. Trump’s approval rating among Democrats hovers around 8%, for instance. But, other than Ford, every president before Reagan had a peak approval rating higher than that among partisans of the opposing party. So, I think we can conclusively answer the question: Reagan was NOT popular among Democrats.A few things need to be mentioned:During the Reagan years, the process whereby the White South abandoned the Democratic Party and joined the Republican Party over the issue of civil rights hadn’t been completed. Rick Perry was still calling himself a Democrat at this stage. It was not until 1989 that he became a Republican.[1]A lot of these people who voted for and approved of Reagan are dead. Reagan was last voted into office in 1984. I wasn’t born yet. The Democratic Party of today bears the same name as its 1984 iteration, but it’s not the same party, not by a long shot. The racial composition of the country has changed a lot. Take Obama’s performance among the various racial groups in the country. Give him the same performance in 2000 and he would lose his elections. If you go back to 1984, the country was even Whiter. So, do Democrats love Reagan? No way.Footnotes[1] Rick Perry - Wikipedia

Please give an answer. Tell me why you think Barrack Obama should or shouldn't be president...?

Obama should be president because he isn't 4 more years of the same bull from the Republicans who put this country in the bad shape it is in now. and also because he actually has a plan for health care and energy and he also he cares about poor people and helping americans. and pulling our troops out of Iraq...you think obama is a pig. that shows how mature you are. and " this jerk" you are talking about is going to win this fall. lets see how you react when is sworn in the january. because most americans use their brains when the vote. (except 2004 election)

Why do Europeans believe that Reagan was a horrible president?

Part of the reason is that the major European media outlets tend to present American political stories very differently than their US counterparts. Largely, this is because they don’t have to worry about losing their audience for being unpatriotic—or, rather, unsupportive of American interests. Also, Europeans didn’t have Reagan looking caringly out of their televisions every few days telling them they lived in the greatest country the world had ever known. In fact, when western Europeans heard him going on like that, many wondered how anyone could fall for such transparent jingoism.edit: And finally, as Albert Dock reminds us in his response, lets not forget that Reagan openly speculated on the use of Western Europe as a testing ground for small-scale nuclear weapons:“I could see where you could have the exchange of tactical (nuclear) weapons against troops in the field without it bringing either one of the major powers to pushing the button" (R. Reagan, speaking to a group of press editors, Oct 9, 1981).

Was Ronald Reagan a good president?

Yes.

When Reagan took office the economy was one of the double-digit inflation and high interest rates. During his first year in office, Reagan engineered the passage of $39 billion in budget cuts into law, as well as a massive 25 percent tax cut spread over three years for individual, and faster write-offs for capital investment for business.

Although inflation dropped from 13.5% in 1980 to 5.1% in 1982, a severe recession set in, with unemployment exceeding 10% in October, 1982 for the first time in forty years. The administration modified its economic policy after two years by proposing selected tax increases and budget cuts to control rising deficits and higher interest rates. After the 1982 downturn, the reduced inflation rate (under 5% for the remainder of the administration) sparked record economic growth, and produced one of the lowest unemployment rates in modern U.S. history (unemployment hit a 14 year low in June of 1988). As Reagan left office, the nation was experiencing its sixth consecutive year of economic prosperity.

Reagan led the battle for a Social Security reform bill designed to ensure the long-term solvency of the system...

Reagan encouraged the development of "private sector initiatives" as well as federalism, with the objective of transferring from the federal government some of the responsibilities believed to be better served by private business or state and local government.

At the heart of Reagan's foreign policy was the prevention of communist expansion.

When Ronald Reagan became president, he had a clear vision of what the nation should be and spelled out the direction he hoped it would take during his administration. Reagan had a clear social, economic, and foreign policy agenda, and with political guile and personal persuasiveness he was able to achieve many of his goals.
