Does linux work for tablets?

i didnt get get specific intention of the question, so just giving a perspective.>Does linux work for tablets?yes, just like how linux works for hundreds of other category of devices.> Which version of Linux is best for tablets? Android is the dominant Linux based operating system powering tablets today., (ubuntu versions are not available in market., while other OS's avaiable for tablet are - windows, and iOS.. even iOS belongs to unix family, )Talking about android linux kernel, multiple android pastry versions are released on a particular kernel versions. A stable kernel release available that time chosen by Google android team, along with addition of android specific kernel features becomes an android kernel.1.5 Cupcake         - kernel 2.6.271.6 Donut             - kerenl 2.6.292.0 Eclair             - kerenl 2.6.292.2 Froyo             - kerenl 2.6.322.3 GingerBread   - kerenl 2.6.353.0 HoneyComb    - kerenl 2.6.364.0 Icecream        - kerenl 3.0.14.1 Jelly Bean      - kernel 3.0.31One can directly see various kernel versions maintained for each device family.kernel/common - Git at Google kernel/exynos - Git at Googlekernel/omap - Git at Google  >Also, which is best for ARM Architecture support?Regarding ARM architecture, currently ARMv7 is dominant across all mobile, tablet segments. Both ARM Cortex A8, and Cortex A9 combined will have 100% tablet, smartphone market share in past 3 years, ever since android&apple have dominated the market.Currently Cortex A15 is being on the rise, for next level of products.ARM and other semiconductor vendors actively push ARM architecture support to linux kernel even before the chip/product comes out to market, so any latest kernel version will have support arm architecture available that time., while critical bug fixes will be being pushed over the time..

How do I get a full Linux with no gui and just a command line?

Installing the server edition of your distribution of choice is usually a good way to start. A lot of modern distros pack a ton of software into their default desktop environment “meta-packages” rather than letting the user decide what software they want to install. This extra software takes up space on your system, frequently for things that you may either install an alternative for, or possibly never have a need for. Even if you do eventually intend to run a full desktop environment, installing the server edition, configuring things from the command line, and then installing the standard packages for your desktop environment of choice rather than the meta-package can save you a ton of space. If you do attempt to remove the desktop package from a system that’s already been configured with the defaults, you’ll frequently find a minefield of dependency conflicts waiting for you. This makes starting from a clean slate with the server edition an attractive option, giving you more choice in your package selection right from the start. If you want to make a system truly usable from the command line, that’s a slightly harder challenge. I’ve got a netbook that runs a completely command line install of Debian. To use all of it’s capabilities, I had to get comfortable with tools like iwlist and iwconfig for connecting to wireless networks, using a text based browser (links is my go-to choice) and other such obstacles. Depending on what you are using your command-line only system for, your obstacles may be different from mine.

Why are Apple Computer so popular among Liberals and college students?

Well lets get something straight. Most college students are liberal (unfortunately). However I am a college student, and am refreshingly not liberal, and not a racist hillbilly. Now we can focus on liberals in general.

The recent liberal uprising in young people is a fad; they know no political platform. These people are inclined to follow fads. The mac book is a fad. Think I'm wrong? People buying computers with 3 year OLD hardware, at prices 3 times what we pay for CURRENT hardware is nothing more than insane and a fashion statement.

People buy macbooks so they can appear trendy. The age specific marketing of Apple is actually ingenious. They have specifically marketed towards college students (people my age). Universities often times buy mac computers and have whole labs dedicated to them. These mac computers look gorgeous compared to the usual dell systems. Their screens are bigger and more brilliant, and their cases and keyboards look futuristic. So people are very inclined to use the pretty computers with the nice screens and beautiful looks. This appearance based computer fetish is what drives college students to buy a mac laptop.

The real bombshell hasn't hit yet though. All of these college kids will grow up, and choose to buy Macs for their families. And so the marketshare of Apple is about to expand substantially as soon as these college students become heads of household. This is when the PC will really get hit hard; this or the advent of cloud computing. So there you have it, its only about to get worse.

On a side note: next time you hear someone say they are a POORRR college student, and they're toting a macbook, and probably going on spring break trips and traveling abroad unnecessarily -- punch them square in the face.

Can I install an Linux OS to my old Micromax Funbook Tablet?

Yes but there is a separate edition of Ubuntu which is specially built of Tablet, since tablet and PC have different hardware.Download Ubuntu Installer for Android from Google Play. This application helps you to install Ubuntu directly in your internal or external storage. Remember that the size of Ubuntu for tablet is around 2GB or can be higher. (Ubuntu Installer for Android is NOT FREE but there is also another way, you can download Complete Linux installer which is FREE. )You will need a customized image of Ubuntu available for Tablet. You can get that from the official website of Ubuntu.Download Ubuntu 12.04 Tablet Edition.Create a folder in your external or internal storage. Name it Linux/Backtrack/Ubuntu. So that you can remember that this is dedicated for Open Source OS. Copy the downloaded files in that folder. Next run the application and launch Linux. This does not actually install Linux and wipe out the existing rom. this is just a emulator. It runs Linux Distro in its own environment without touching android. It is necessary to make some major changes you have to provide super user permissions. There can be issue with directory bind. To fix that just add the Target to the script and run it.

Is there a Linux distro with automatic rotation included by default for Tablet PCs with Atom processors?

Which laptop/tablet do you think is better for programming Google Pixel Slate or Pixelbook?

(I assume that programming means development)Neither. Both the Slate and the Pixelbook are Chromebooks, meaning they run Google’s browser-based operating system, ChromeOS. ChromeOS is unlike Windows 10 and macOS Mojave in that it is targeted exclusively at a single user base — casual users. The operating system does not include any development capabilities and instead focuses entirely on web-based and Android (and more recently Linux) applications. So while gaming, productivity and casual use is possible, there are very few options for development as compared to a PC or a Mac.So, what does this all mean? It means that your purposes will not be served by a Chromebook. Instead, consider buying a PC or a Mac; tablets such as the iPad are also not good computers for development. If you want to develop for the most platforms possible, buy a Mac, as they will allow you to develop for iOS as well. Otherwise, buy a PC; you can develop for most every other platform. So to sum up:Don’t buy a Chromebook for development.Don’t buy a tablet for development.Buy a Mac if you want to develop for iOS.Buy a PC if you need to do just about anything else.

Hard disk failure is imminent?

About two days ago I got the hard disk failure is imminent after about two occasions where my PC was freezing. So after doing some forum reading and asking around I was told that the problem laid with my hard drive. Today I bought a new hard drive. I removed the old one and after installing the new one turned the PC on. I received the same message with my new Hard Drive and I still get stuck in the BIOS sometimes.

What do you guys think?

Bluetooth not detected in Asus Eee PC 1100PX?

I was given an EeePC for a year, and besides that all the function keys on the keyboard besides the brightness and sleep button aren't working and I can't find drivers for it, but the Bluetooth that is supposed to be included doesn't seem to exist. Instead i see the Atheros Ethernet and Wireless drivers. But I also see a Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter which I'm guessing is the Bluetooth with the wrong driver. I found two Bluetooth drivers for the EeePC on Asus' official site, and both of them say there's no Bluetooth device installed. Any ideas? Thanks
