Live In Upstairs Apartment Need At-home Cardio That Won

I live in an upstairs apartment, what are some good quiet cardio exercises?

I need some cardio exercises! I know about jumping jacks, and running, riding my bike and all of those fun things, but between work, and classes all I really have time to do is exercise at home sometimes get home pretty late, so I don't wanna go running or biking by myself at night. I have an elliptical but I think it is too loud, and I think the neighbors might hear it at night or early in the morning. Can someone please give me some good cardio exercises I can do at home! Thanks a bunch!

I live in an upstairs apartment but want to make a garden in my balcony or grow veggies some how?

Actually to put all of your vegetables in one container is not as good as putting 2 or 3 in a container. Large 5 gallon buckets will bottom drainage holes drilled,( make sure they sit in saucers so the plants can take a good long drink.
If the balcony is small paint the outside of the buckets to give them more of a look of a nice pot. You can plant lettuce, onions , radishes, green bean, (bunch /bush) tomatoes, infact just about anything.

What's a quiet cardio workout for an upstairs apartment?

There are actually quite a few workouts you can do without disturbing your neighbor.

If you have the money, invest in an elliptical machine. They're great and very quiet. You can get a killer workout on them and still be very quiet.

You can also do yoga and mat pilates to help sculpt your muscles. Both are done on the floor, but there's no jumping around.

Also, invest in some handweights so you can do light weight training. Adding weights will help your muscles tone, as well as help to burn more calories than just cardio alone.

Good luck and from a bottom floor apartment dweller, I thank you for thinking about your neighbor!!

Can Mice Climb Up To Upstairs Apartments?

My Aunt lives on the fourth floor of an apartment. She doesn't have mice, but her neighbor across the hall does. Shes taken the proper precautions though, as shes expecting the unwelcomed guests to cross the hall. I advise you to do the same, weathor or not your neighbor has mice or not.

Better safe then sorry, eh?

Upstairs vs. Downstairs apartments, which is better?

If you're in a cold climate then I'd suggest go for the upstairs apt. since it should stay warmer due to Heat rises. Plus if the apt has their heater on, think about it, they're heating your place for free too LOL b/c heat rises! And that will solve your noise prob too. Also if you have any major mataniance issues like a broken water heater, at least you'll be on the top level... see if you were on the bottom level and the apt above you had a leek then it would also become your problem too, but if you're on the top and the one bellow has probs then you have NO worries c0z your on top! But then again, if things aren't fixed properly, you would have a risk of falling through the floor into the apt below you.

But downstairs apt. can be nice, their easy to move into, and in the hot months they tend to stay cooler. And personally I like being on solid ground (no worrys of the bath tube falling through to down stairs LOL).

Hope that answers your Q!

Would you rather live upstairs or downstairs in an apartment?

Upstairs apartments are typically quieter and safer. You don't have anyone above you stomping around and your windows aren't accessable. However, if you have a small dog (your avatar is a small dog), children, or a stomper living with you, then a bottom apartment will keep your neighbors happier. Keep in mind that the double edged sword is that if you have a small yappy dog, the dog will hear more things downstairs, which may make him bark more. This is something MAJOR to consider before you move to an apartment. If the dog is a yapper, what do you do when you get a notice to quit or move? You will not be permitted to install any type of invasive alarm without approval of the owner/landlord/manager.

Most municipalities have codes that would not allow 6 people to live in a studio or one bedroom apartment for safety reasons. Look into this, as it could be the leverage you need to resolve the problem either with your neighbor or the landlord.  Otherwise notify your landlord, in writing, that your neighbors' behavior is interfering with your right to "quiet enjoyment" of your apartment.  If the landlord does not cure the problem you can sue the landlord for violating your lease agreement.

You don't need a generator, just storage. Basically you need a big battery and something that charges it and something that discharges it at your normal grid voltage. These are all packaged together in things called uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and are sold in computers stores as people with critical servers need them. A large one will be enough to keep your router running and a lamp for a few hours. If your heating and cooking is gas powered say, then you're well covered!Your laptop or iPad should be good for a few hours too - so I guess you just need to guess how long you'll be out!Question on @Quora: Uninterruptible Power Systems: Can I use UPS for 5-6 hours? Can I use UPS (Uninterruptible Power Systems) for 5-6 hours?

There is no simple answer.First of all, you can’t break a lease for any condition; you can only break a lease for the landlord’s failure to correct it, and only after due notice was given and a reasonable time for the landlord to act. Most leases contain a provision whereby the tenant states that he/she has inspected the premises and found it satisfactory before signing the lease. That begs the question: why did you rent a “dilapidated basement apartment” in the first place? Did you expect it to become a ‘nice’ apartment after you moved in?Was there evidence of “foundation leaks” that were visible when you inspected it before you rented it? Are you paying a reduced rent consistent with the apartment’s general condition?Generally speaking, water infiltration in any residence is a habitability issue that if unaddressed can give a tenant a legal reason to break a lease. So the answer is yes, but it may not be that simple.
