Liver Pain After Alchol

Liver pain after drinking?

Im 20 and have been drinking every night for about 2 years. Recently my tolerance has gotten so high that last night, for example, I had about 30+ shots of brandy with my girlfriend. (I dont know why but I just like brandy the most hehe.) I also drink a lot of beer, maybe 8 - 14 a night when I do. Anyway, I woke up feeling like **** obviously but now Im getting this dull ache in my liver. This is only the second time its happened but its got me feeling like its time to quit. Which I intend to.

Is this a sign of any real damage to my liver yet? If I quit now will I still be fine? Or am I a dead man? lol

Liver pain?

Unlikely to be your liver. The liver is known as "the uncomplaining organ," simply because few liver problems cause pain.

More likely, you might be having pain from your gallbladder. Especially if the pain intensifies after eating, and is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. These are frequent symptoms of gallstones, or a gallbladder infection.

Alcohol and liver pain?

There are many causes of liver pain or tenderness so I am unable to say with any certainty that alcohol is causing yours. Generally speaking, liver damage takes years of alcohol abuse. And the pain may not even be originating from your liver. This may be something else entirely. Have you considered that?

Yes, the liver is resilient... to a point... and is able to regenerate itself under certain circumstances. However, cirrhotic damage is permanent.

I say wait for the labs to come back and review the results with your physician. Based on the labs, your doctor will discuss the next step. And if you're truly concerned, don't stop at alcohol reduction --- omit alcohol entirely.

Liver pains after drinking?

Let me begin by admiting that I DO drink a LOT on the weekend, and the last few weeks I've been drinking more than I've ever (a bottle of Jack Daniel's in an hour, 2 days later a bottle of Bacardi and then a couple days later another bottle of Bacardi)

I'm 25 and have been drinking heavily since I was 18, but no more than a half a bottle of Bacardi on the weekend, along with the usual 3-5 beers at the bar. Within the last year and a half or so, I've experienced pain in my joints, and activity if not pain in my lower right rear rib cage (which is where I believe is my liver) and in my left side as well (which I believe to be my pancreas). All blood tests that I have taken have been negative of any abnormality, however with my recent surge in alcohol consumption, the activity/slight pains I've been experiencing have persisted immediately following a drink. They are not unbearable, but they are there.

I'm not sure what this is and I'm wondering if anything can be done. Before the recent heavy alcohol consumption, I've experienced these symptoms and had blood work done every 6 months, with a cat scan as well. Nothing turned up wrong, I do have Crohn's so I thought the discomfort had to do with that, but now I'm not so sure. Does anyone think I should see a doctor? I've seen them when experiencing these symptoms but nothing was identified, and I don't want to waste the doctor's or mine if this is nothing that needs to be investigated.

Is there a quick home remedy for liver pain from drinking too much alcohol other than of course to stop drinking alcohol, such as drinking water with lemon and salt or some other mixture?

I sincerely doubt if you are having "liver pains" because of having drunk too much alcohol, since the liver doesn't hurt.  Alcohol does very often cause a chemical inflammation, even bleeding from mucosal damage, of the inner stomach lining (mucosa), which is situated in the upper abdomen also:  alcoholic gastritis. The only way alcohol could cause pains in the liver area is the rather unlikely situation where the liver because of chronic alcohol abuse swells up because of much fat accumulating in the liver, stretching the fibrous covering so causing stretch pain.Against this only not drinking alcohol anymore helps, nothing which helps immediately, against stomach aches due to alcohol the usual anti-acids might help like Tums, stronger H2 blockers like Zantac®, of even stronger proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec®.

If you have a dull liver pain that comes and goes after a night of drinking, would that automatically be associated to having a liver disease?

Thanks for your answers. About 3 weeks ago, I did have liver function test done and ultrasound. All of the blood work showed that everything was in the normal range for liver function and the ultrasound did not show any masses on liver, pancreas, or gallbladder. I now plan to quit drinking, but I'm just getting nervous as I'm reading articles stating that blood work can sometimes come back normal even for people with liver disease and cirrhosis as long as part of the liver is still functioning.

Stomach (possibly liver) pain after drinking?

There's a good chance that it's stomach ulcers from the super acidity of the alcohol. Any time I drink alcohol or coffee I get pains in my abdomen that feel almost like little knives stabbing me from inside. The ulcers also cause a lot of gas problems, which can be super painful moving through your intestines causing pain in the abdomen lower than the stomach area.
Try some antacid! The liquid ones with gas relief have worked best for me.
