Will my car make it to Texas from Michigan?

I really want to move to Houston but i'm concerned if my car is going to make it there or not, since i dont fly, and i want to keep my car. I have a 2001 Buick Lasabre. It does have over 300,000 miles but i keep up with my oil changes and everything else seems to be just fine with it without any problems. It would be devastating if my car just breaks down for some reason in the middle of tennesse or somewhere. Do you think my car would make it? Or no?

How long can I drive in Texas with a California driver’s license?

Legally……..IF you are still a California resident AT THE exact address on the license, with all other information current/correct on a valid California driver’s license AND you poses Texas’ minimum required automobile INSURANCE——you may drive in Texas legally until your Driver’s license expires, but NOT LONGER.IF YOU HAVE MOVED TO TEXAS however, 90 DAYS, AND NO LONGER. You now have a new address and home, you are required to obtain a valid TEXAS driver’s license and updated auto insurance policy WITHIN 90 DAYS, or you are in violation of Texas law…and will be fined, even arrested/jailed, etc. You REALLY need to obtain a copy of the Texas laws (from the Texas Department of Public Safety), and review/modify your vehicle to be sure it adheres to the laws of Texas also. PAM ATTENTION to simple things like Texas Drivers Safety Regulations and Responsibilities, working vehicle lights, proper license plate placement and change to TEXAS plates, maximum allowed window tinting, exhaust emissions and current vehicle inspections, etc. Not meeting these required things will get you stopped, searched, questioned, and ticketed, fined, etc. Welcome to Texas !

Is it safe to drive from California to Texas?

I recommend traveling via Interstate 10. Other routes, through US Highways, will take significantly longer.Yes. You just have to know where to stop. What part of California are you coming from? What part of Texas are you heading towards? How much time do you have?Tucson and El Paso are good stopping points.Don’t visit “The Thing” in New Mexico…it’s a tourist trap. The Hampton Inn on Grant Street is a good hotel in Tucson. The Best Western on Airway Street is a good hotel in El Paso.Cotton Eyed Joe’s is a good breakfast place in Clint, TX.TTT Truck Stop is a good gas/food place in Tucson.Phoenix is crowded and Fort Stockton sucks. Only stop in those cities for gas.The weather is usually pretty nice. AZ, NM, and West Texas can get some monsoonal rains in the late summer. So make sure to double check.Buc-ees in Luling is another good place to stop, especially if you’re headed towards Houston.Stripes gas station in Fort Stockton is another good stopping place.Take sandwiches, because the majority of the food places suck.

How safe is it to drive from Texas to California?

Pretty damn safe, actually.I drove that stretch twice - once with a car full of clothes, other items, my cat, and my fiance with absolutely no stops (other than gas and minor naps) and the second trip, I was pregnant with virtually all the same things (except the cat, she ran away in Texas) and an actual halfway point pit stop. The second drive was far more comfortable apart from the fact that we were essentially outrunning a shitstorm (the extreme and occasionally fatal flooding in San Antonio in May of last year). And because of the storm we were outrunning (and the fact that my parents both work for the Department of Transportation), I have learned important driving tips - when driving in the rain, give yourself at least three cars’ distance between the car in front of you (I give myself 5 as I don’t decrease speed much, just increase stopping distance), when you feel your car losing control DO NOT brake, simply turn into the curve and let your foot off the gas as braking can cause further loss of control and following the loss of control actually gives you more control - overcorrecting causes most severe accidents.A tip for THAT distance would be make sure your car is serviced before the trip, be sure to have a tank of gas in the trunk and be sure to never let your car go under a quarter of a tank (unless there are no gas stations around). On our trip to Texas, I switched with my then boyfriend (now fiance) and told him we needed to get gas at the next station we saw and promptly fell asleep. When I woke up, we were slowing, due to the fact that he had forgotten to fill up when I told him to, and myself and my cat were stuck in New Mexico on the side of the road while he went to go buy a gas tank and fill it with gas. Not a fun experience.
