Looking For A Great Daycare In Calgary

How good is a salary of $85,000 to $90,000 in Canada?

A salary of $85–$90K is above average for an individual, average for a family, and below average for a Manager in the construction industry, worker in the health industry, and workers in the Oil and Gas and mining industry. This salary puts an individual and/or small family squarely in the middle class of working Canadians.Rental Cost: August 2017 Canadian Rent ReportUnfortunately rental inflation has made it more expensive to live in Canada’s larger cities - 1 bedroom in Vancouver is now around $2000 Cad and $3200 for a two bedroom, per month and before utilities.Taxes are also a very heavy burden on Canadians, as other commentators have noted “In 2017, the average Canadian family will earn $108,674 in income and pay a total of $47,135 in taxes (43.4%)” Canadians Celebrate Tax Freedom Day on June 9, 2017If the $85–$90K salary is in addition to a good retirement benefit program or pension (such as a public service job), as well as a supplemental health care plan then you will be doing well and will live comfortably with good clothing, a newish vehicle, and the ability to have discretionary spending/saving of a few thousand dollars per month. If you have to fund your retirement and pay for dental/vision/prescription coverage out of pocket than you will still have enough money be able to cover all basic and most extras to live a comfortable life but you will be challenged to:Retire before 65Travel internationally for 10 days more than once a yearPurchase a home near Toronto or Vancouver or surrounding suburbsHave more than 2 children (unless you live in Quebec where childcare and education costs are subsidized)Have a spouse stay-at-home and not workAlso, if you live in the Northwest Territories or near Wood Buffalo Alberta, a salary below $100K is difficult to live on due to higher cost of living.

Budgie Sitting/Daycare/Boarding?

So, I'm going on vacation and I need someone to take care of my two budgies in Calgary, Alberta. I was wondering if anyone knows a good place where my budgies can stay. I've already heard of going on Kijiji to look for someone and I only came up with Palms Beach so it'd be nice if I'm able to get another answer. If you are not serious about answering my question, then don't bother answering it. Thank you.

How much does daycare cost in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta? Can you get help from the provincial or federal government to pay for it?

Thanks for the A2A.I can speak for Edmonton but I imagine the cost in Calgary is pretty close if not a bit higher (its generally a more expensive city). It costs anywhere between $750-$1500 per month for full-time daycare. The younger the more costly. Government subsidies (other than the Universal Childcare benefit) usually applies to those who are low income only and applies to licenced facilities only.  See Alberta Child Care Subsidy

How is Evergreen area of Calgary Canada?

It’s a predominately single-family, detached house suburb in the far southern part of Calgary.I poked around the community profiles at the city of Calgary website- this is invaluable for you so that you can stop asking about specific neighourhoords in Calgary and make an informed choice, not a choice based on the biased perceptions of people who can only bash the northeast part of the city (a part in which our MAYOR lives). Community ProfilesI hate all of the suburban parts of the city, hate low-density, car dependent areas where I would be seen as a weirdo for choosing to walk or bike, where the LRT stop that should be a 10 minute stroll turns out to be an interminable 45 minute safari because of the horrible, horrible non-linear street design that’s intended to “keep out outsiders” and feed into the inherent paranoia of residents. BUT I can say some nice things about Evergreen: It’s diverse. 39% immigrant and 36% visible minority. This is something we’re seeing all over the southern part of the city; areas that had been overwhelmingly white are being increasingly integrated and that’s almost entirely because of the absolute explosion in the Filipino population in Calgary, so the most common language next to English is Tagalog. That’s pretty cool.Would I live there? No. Never.

Which is the best place to settle with your family: Toronto or Calgary?

I feel I'm well qualified to answer this having lived at both and currently having houses at both cities. It really all depends on you as a person and what you like.I lived in Calgary for over 7 years and Toronto for a total of 3-4 years. Calgary is a lot more quiet. Crime is not as big as in other major cities, and yes Calgary is a major city. From what I recall Calgary was voted number 1/2 on most liveable Canadian cities and Toronto was 3rd/4th. This was published in an article back in 2012/3. Stats might have changed since then so please do your research. If you are having a family and trying to have a quiet life then Calgary is definitely for you. A word of advice is to stay away from the NE part of Calgary as crime has increased in that region as of late, where my family still currently reside. There are a lot of restaurants and bars. Few clubs. The arts and music scene is close to none. Nightlife is a bore. Driving isn't as crazy as Toronto except for the few crazies you gotta be aware of. On the other side of things, if you like hiking, traveling, camping, and other outdoor activities, Calgary is a great spot for all that. Having many national parks a few hours drive away and literally dead centre between Vancouver and Manitoba (definitely travel friendly cities)Toronto. The 6ix. This is the city you want to be in if you're young/having a mid life crisis. The city has developed a lot more and is booming even more since Drake became an international sensation. Crime is higher at certain regions of the GTA more than others so it'd be best to avoid such places. All around crime is higher in the 6 than Calgary. The arts and music scene is even bigger thanks to Drake. Definitely a lot more variety of cultures and restaurants to choose from than Calgary. It's a much bigger city than Calgary so driving will be a bore and it will be long. But if you can look past that then Toronto is all around an awesome city. If you have a lot more friends in either city then it's better to move to that city unless you like being alone. If you like nightlife and culture then go to Toronto. If you like living a quiet life and camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities, then go to Calgary.

What is the right minimum age to start sending a child to day care? Are day cares set up to take good care of infants?

With my personal experience regarding daycare, the appropriate age to start sending an infant to daycare is approx 1 yr. I think parents should have to take care of their lovely kids personally up to 1 yr. Because this is the time of their initial growth which should be in the hands of the parents themselves.   But if both the parents are working then there is a probability of decreasing the age up to 6 months.  Yeah, Daycares set up to take good care of infants, there’s no doubt regarding that. But be sure by getting full details of the particular daycare before sending your kid. As some of them are not setup to ideal locations. Sometimes there are issues regarding infrastructures & staff. Have a deep research by looking around.  I’ve a 3 yrs old baby girl which is in day care from last 2 yrs. The Day cares always try their best because all kids are same for them. I’ve a wonderful experience with the Best Day Care in Gurgaon named Ipsaa Day Care. The facilities & services are amazing & same as per the parents want for their Kids. They have the proper enviroment for the growth of infants whether it is related to security, meals, staff, infrastructure etc.

What are the advantages of team teaching in Kindgergarten?

I am looking into team teaching with another teacher next year, and I would like to have some back up research available as to the pros and cons of this type of collaboration. If anyone has some good resouces or experiences to share, I would love to hear! Thanks

Could you throw some light on child care costs in Canada? I would have landed in Canada by the same time next year, then my daughter would be 1.5 years, assuming my wife also joins some job.

Childcare is expensive in Canada. It’s really an issue.Canadian parents spend a quarter of their salary on child care — a third if they're singleSome employers and some colleges and universities have set up their own childcare centres so that their employees have a place for their kids, but you can’t always count on that. Spaces are always limited.Neighbourhood childcare is a popular option, where someone with their own kid at home also takes in a few others to help make ends meet. Look for someone with the proper certifications, if possible.'The reality parents face': Child-care affordability depends on where you liveThe money you pay for childcare can be deducted at income tax time, so you get a bit of a break there. But it’s still money out of your pocket.
