Looking For A Song Title And Artist - 50/60s

What 50-60's song by a female solo artist has lyrics about a little bird flying away?

Someone below has answered the question... It is, in fact Songbird that we were trying to find... And Loretta Lynn is the artist that we remember singing it... Thank you, everyone!

Looking for a song title from the early or mid 70's...last line from the song says "the snow turned to rain".

Dan Fogelberg's Same Auld Lang Syne

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I Stole behind her in the frozen foods
and I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
but then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
and we laughed until we cried
We Took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
as the conversation dragged
Went to have ourselves a drink or two
but couldn't find an open bar
Bought a six-pack at the liquor store
and we drank it in her car
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to now
Tried to reach beyond the emptiness
but neither one knew how
[ Lyrics found at www.mp3lyrics.org/kd ]
She said she'd married her an architect
Kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
but she didn't like to lie
I said the years had been a friend to her
and that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if
I saw doubt or gratitude
She said she saw me in the record store
and that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
but the traveling was hell
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to now
Tried to reach beyond the emptiness but neither one new how
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to time
We're living in our eloquence, another old lang syne
The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
and running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
and I watched her drive away
Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
the snow turned into rain

Looking for song with lyrics "...in the shelter fo each other's arms"?

I'm looking for the title of the song or the artist (a woman) who sang it that had these lyrics. The chorus had the line "... in the shelter of each other's arms" and it was popular in 2003 or 2004 (after the start of the second Gulf War). I thought it might be Susan Tedeschi but haven't been able to find any of her songs with this line.

Song from late 50s or 60s ( chorus starts with: baby baby )?

Hi,

Well thats a bit crazy, and i know the song but i just can't remember the title and artist... It's a song from late 50s or 60s and woman is singing it, its a cute melody very famous song, and the chorus of the song goes something like : oh baby baby ( forgot the words, something about leave me...) well she sings like a million times baby baby... and its not baby love from supremes but its a very similar song! Hope someone recognize the song, cuz my info's are quite poor...i forgot everything!

Why do songs by American recording artists generally last only 3-4 minutes?

Well in the 50s & 60s songs were 2-2 1/2 minutes to fit on 7" records as the format was really taking off. Stations wanted to play more songs and teens had disposable cash. In the 80s and 90s songs hit the "perfect" length for radio: 3 minutes 30 seconds. This ensures the complete song will be played, even though radio stations play more commercials than ever.
