Looking For Diversity

What is the symbol of diversity?

For a carnival project, I have to represent diversity allegorically. I'm looking for ideas, so I would like to know in the sociological and anthropological fields, what are the images or the characters that are symbolically associated with diversity.

Can you estimate someone's creativity by looking at the diversity of people who they follow on Twitter?

First of all, how do you estimate someones creativity? What does your follower count and diversity have to do with the actual artist? Nothing. Because the audience always come last, its all about the artists narrative first. Second of all, consider the artistry and then consider what you deem diversity? Its too a general thing to judge by the twitter count and who follows the artist, although it can give sight to the niche, it cant pin point the depth or direction of the creativity. This is a very general question.

Why is there so much diversity in people’s looks in Nepal?

I don’t know how qualified I am to answer the question, but still with a little bit of research and enthusiasm, I ‘ll try to answer the question. I have read several books and done online research on the DNA analysis. Most of the Nepalese have similar genetical component but which may vary in a huge quantity. Lets consider a Brahmin from Nepal which would likely have a genetic distribution as such:32% South Indian35 % Baloch8% Caucasian12.5% Northern European3% Mediterranean8% or so East Asian out of which 5% is Tibeto-Burman. (To all the Brahmins, it may come as a shock, that they have mongoloid genes.)src: HarappaWorld AdmixtureAnyway further lets consider a Newar + Magar which may consists:25% South Indian8% Baloch1% Caucasian3% Northeast European>50% East AsianThough it is not, factually correct to put Newars and Magars in the same category.Considering all these, Chhetris and Some Brahmins though considered Aryans may have high proportion of East Asian component. Some actually have as high as 30 %.Sherpas, the caste who are less mingled with the aryan population also have a genetic admixture as:9.23% S-Indian0.00% Baloch0.51% Caucasian0.00% NE-Euro0.06% SE-Asian11.45% Siberian76.97% NE-Asian1.47% PapuanSo, other mongoloid population have even more so called aryan genes. Also facial features not only depend on the genes, but also climatic condition of the place where the people reside. For instance, childrens from the same parent can be very different in terms of skin color.

Are employers looking for minorities to have more diversity in their workplace or do they discriminate against them?

No two companies are the same in this matter. Larger companies tend to be more inclusive and color blind as they have learned that valuable employees come from all ethnic and religious backgrounds.Smaller companies depend on the owners and/or managers views. Also location of company make a difference. NYC, Miami, LA and SF companies most definitely have a more inclusive cultures than companies in smaller cities. From first hand experience diversity in neither good or bad on its own. Good employees are good and bad ones are bad regardless of race.

Why do puerto ricans look so diverse?

Okayyy, looks like you have it clear that puerto ricans are REALLY mixed.
The reason that us Puerto Ricans consider ourselves to be one race is because all of the ones that live in PR have the same culture, wherever you go on the island.
A quality that is very rare to find in other areas.
ANYWAYS we wouldn't have the culture that we are now if it wasn't for all the mixtures.
Mainly being African, Spanish, and Native Taino.
If you compare it to the USA, most people here stick to their own race.

Is genetic diversity good or bad?

It seems like when there's no genetic diversity, things get boring, but when there's too much genetic diversity, things get tense. It even causes wars.

Why is this? Is genetic diversity good or bad? When populations start looking too different... are they turning into different species? Why does Nature make species compete against each other?

What gives? Is genetic diversity good or bad?

Why are diverse looking groups of people seen as inherently beneficial and positive?

Because it shows there is no racial bias from the people responsible for the creation of said group. Diversity also has more positive results as people who have different experiences have different ideas about how to solve issues or about what issues might arise

Is it inappropriate for a white male to attend a diversity job fair?

No. I've gone to diversity job fair before and I'm white. Employers are just looking to meet potential applicants. As long as it says it's open to the public and not just a certain organization. Prepare yourself and attend :)
