Traditional or cupcake wedding cake?

I was recently told by a friend that having a cupcake wedding cake was tacky and looks cheap. This of course hurt my feelings a little especially when she wasn't even apologetic about it. My thinking is why pay $500 for a half eaten wedding cake? What do you guys think? Was she in the wrong? Are cupcake wedding cakes in? Should I pay for a traditional wedding type cake? I need a little bit of direction on this. Please help :)

What are some creative, non-traditional, and inexpensive wedding ceremony and reception ideas?

Antipolo catering servicesLet your wedding site inspire the theme of the weddingIf you are holding a garden wedding, then let the rest of the wedding aspects follow. Incorporate floral arrangements into your hair, wear a garden dress instead of the traditional wedding trail when you are walking down the aisle and so on. Having a general theme dictates how the rest of your wedding will look like and would additionally give it a more organized feel.Have facts about your “firsts” printed on every table for guests to readThis can include as many of the fond memories you and your spouse had made over the time you had spent together as a couple before you got married. It can include some facts about your first date, how you both met, your favorite getaway as a couple, etc. Additionally, this will also give your guests something entertaining and relevant to read while they are waiting for supper to be served.Decorate tables with framed photos of you and your fiancé together with family and friendsThis is ideal for intimate and small weddings, and it will certainly give your guests a feeling of being genuinely involved with you. It makes your guests feel inclusive, and it is a great way to show them that you appreciate their presence as well as their support of you as a couple.Create a sentimental surpriseCouples can be rather flexible and creative with this. Some couples choose to incorporate it in their wedding vows, but another way of creating a sweet surprise is to read aloud a line of the love letter that your fiancé sent you before you got engaged. It is wonderfully sweet, and it is guaranteed to warm the heart of your husband to be.Opt for a romantic wish instead of an ordinary guestbookEncourage guests to leave words of supports, little letters that are truly personalized for you and your groom to read once the festivities are over. It is sweet, simple yet sentimental and it certainly will give you something to look back on over the years you will have as a wedded couple. The words of encouragement they left could be your beacon of success as a loving couple.

Wedding Reading/Poem.?

On Your Wedding Day
Author Unknown

Today is a day you will always remember
The greatest in anyone's life
You'll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as Husband and Wife

It's a brand new beginning the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there'll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken

So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It's the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper 'I do'

And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
May success find it's way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts.

How do I find a good non-traditional wedding planner in Manhattan?

Actually, we did end up doing most of the planning ourselves.  Planners seem to charge at least $10k.  We hired a "coordinator" to just deal with issues day of:Emily EventsShe did offer planning services, but only a limited amount of it, for not cheap.  Also, we hired a decorator who looked at the space and helped us iron out a concept:Katerina MelnikovaThe rest mostly fell into place one way or another, but... well, it was an ordeal.  If it's going to involve the standard 15-20 or so vendors, start working on everything a year in advance and you should be okay.So in general, unless you're okay with spending a considerable sum, you can't get around doing most of it yourself, and I'd advise you to not expect things to go as you requested/planned, unless the details are in the contracts.
