Looking For Work Have You Worked At A Target Store Stocking Overnight How Was It

Target Store, Stocking Early Morning? What is it like?

when i was an electrician i had to work nights at a target after-hours when they were remodeling the store. I remember seeing the target employees working and it seemed like it was pretty laid back working the overnight shift there. They would just stock shelves and you would see them sitting in the magazine aisle reading and whatnot. some of them would hang out in the patio furniture

Is being an Overnight Stocker hard work?

YES. IT's hard work and the f*ck-up part about it is that nobody knows that you're working hard. It's kind of hard for the manager to see your work. Even if you do you very best, others might just so easily take the credit and say that they somehow have a part in all of your hard work. They can just be standing near you and just by doing so, have a reason to take some credit.

What are you going to do about it? Refute and get that co-worker to resent you and cause yourself an enemy at work? If I were you, find a job where hard work and creativity is recognized and rewarded.

What's it like stocking overnight at target?

It sucks *** unless you are going to hate it!

Looking for a job with Social Anxiety (overnight stocking)?

I'm a 20-something year old with very little job experience except for a 2 year job at a fast food restaurant many years ago. At the moment I can not handle any kind of job that requires a lot of socializing with customers. I thought about stocking at a grocery store. But honestly, I'd prefer working between 10pm-6am. Publix from what I understand doesn't have an option for overnight stocking (correct me if I'm wrong). I can't really think of any specific stores in Florida besides Wal-Mart and Target. Are there any other places in Florida that I would be qualified to work at?

What is it like to stock at Target, Wal-Mart, or any other place like these stores?

Can you give me a detailed description of an 8 hour shift at a job like this?

Is stocking (night or day) a little less stressful for someone with Social Anxiety compared to working at a register?

The only complaints I've heard from overnight stockers so far is that it can get boring or that it interferes with their social life; I can deal with the boredom... and I don't really have a social life to lose anyway. I suspect there's more complaints than that, hence why I'm posting this question. I'd like to hear everyone's experiences with stocking before I put in any applications.

Over-night stocking jobs?

Been looking around for some Over-night stocking jobs.. use to work at Office Depot during the day as a tech and I'd like to get away from the "customers" of retail. Seems like working over night is the best way. Any one know of any places that does over-night stocking? ( I know of Wal-mart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, JcPenney, Toys-R-Us, Academy, Sports Authority and Grocery stores like HEB/Food Town[Houston] ) Yet, have applied for all these with no luck, any overnight stores I'm missing?

Job: [about] Target Overnight Stocker...?

There are two types of stores. The first is an overnight push, where the overnighters come in between 9 and 11, and stay until between 6:30 and 8. Once the doors are locked at 11, NO ONE is allowed in or out until 6:30. No exceptions. So working until midnight is not an option. The other type of store is a 4am push, in which case the "overnighters" come in at 4am, and work until about 10 or 11. The type of push the store has is completely dependent on their last years sales. My store happened to miss this by about $5,000. Anyways, Target requires 15 hours a week, no matter what position you have, and a 5 hour shift, minimum.

Working at Target as an Overnight Flow/Logistics Team Member?

I just happen to work at Target and have the same job as you!

While it MAY depend on the store, here's what my job requires me to do/my night usually goes (in order):

1. Sort the products on the line and place them in their respective boards to be sent to the specific location and isle. (Usually takes us an hour depending on how many people we have and the size/number of trucks and products. We usually get around 3,500 products and two trucks.)

2. After the sorting is done, someone (you may do this) then takes each board and sends them out to each isle where we then start stocking the products. We also collect any backstock and send that back to be stored away.

3. A 15 minute break is then given, and we usually have pizza, pop, and other wonderful food and then we have a pep rally where our supervisors let us know how we're doing, and what needs to be done.

4. We then return back and finish stocking whatever is left in the store.

5. Depending on your hours, you may or may not be told to take a lunch. (I work from 10-6 so I get two breaks and a lunch.)

6. Last part is usually just cleaning up any garbage, cleaning up the store for the morning team to come in.

Now, I also have a few tips!

1. You're going to get tired EASY. Make sure to eat food high in energy and drink plenty of fluids! Also make sure to get PLENTY of rest!

2. You will also have to stock frozen food. So make sure to bring a light jacket and gloves. It gets cold REALLY fast!

3. If your supervisor asks you to stay later and help, accept it if possible. It shows dedication plus it's more $$$!

4. Expect holidays and events like Black Friday to have you stay for a 10-12 hour shift. This Black Friday, I worked from 8-6.

5. Wear comfortable shoes! I can't stress that enough!

6. Have fun, and do your best! Welcome to the Target family!

What is it like to work an overnight job at Target?

It has been about 10 years sine I did overnights but I doubt much has changed.  You usually report about 9PM and help the team prepare for the truck unload if their is a truck that day.  Usually 4 or 5 time a week.  When the unload starts it is about 2 hours of hectic work palletizing the boxes as the come off the truck and roll down the conveyor.  When the truck is empty the pallets are moved to the floor in the general area of the specific products on the pallet.  Then teams of about 3 or 4 start opening boxes and putting the merchandise in the proper location.  Special teams usually work the clothing area.  Some of the worst areas to work were domestics with the towels,  home furnishings particularly the frames because of all the packaging, anything with a lot of Styrofoam packing and extensive peg hook areas like cosmetics.  You get a 15 minute break at 2 hours, a 30 minute lunch at about 4 and another 15 at 6 hrs.  Of course lunch is BYO since you can't leave the building though some supervisors do open the doors for the smokers.  All the overstock gets put on vehicles and taken to the storeroom while all the cardboard and other packing material is taken to the bailer and compactor.  It usually is an 8 hour night though it can be less with a "small" truck of longer if a "big" truck or the occasional 2 trucks near the holidays.  Generally you are not working with very heavy products (unlike my stint at Home Depot were the paint products busted my ass).  If for some reason you need to work nights it was not bad.

What does an overnight stocker do?

Work third shift and stock the shelves with more product. Possibly rearrange items when new items come in. For example, if you were an overnight stocker at Wal-Mart and new movies came out, you may have to move the older movies to a new location and place the new releases on the shelf.

How hard is the Lowe's overnight stocker job?

As a former Assistant Manager of overnights, a Assistant manager over the sales team, and then the District Manager of Merchandising, I can tell you the job isn't easy.  It is thankless, and very measurable.  A good night manager is tracking how many boxes you are processing an hour.  Depending on the store you are in, or the volume they do, you can have days that you are running from beginning to end and other days where the truck cancels or gets caught somewhere and then you are down stocking all night.  Truly, as someone who worked all over Lowes during my career there, I would say that job could be one of the most difficult physically.  Mentally, it is very easy.  Once you learn the system it can get pretty mind numbing in fact.
