Looking To Get My First Car Next Year Hopefully A Manual. Need Help Deciding What I Want To Do

Is it hard learning to drive a manual car?

I'm trying to save up for my first car (hopefully a Jeep Wrangler), and I noticed that the manuals can be up to thousands cheaper than automatics. I have several family members willing to teach me, but (this is going to sound silly) I'm afraid that as I'm driving and changing gears, I'll throw myself into reverse or park. Is that possible? Will this be something hard to learn? Also in your opinion is it worth owning a manual car over automatic? Thank you!

I want to get my first car and I have a few questions!?

Ok so I'm 16 and I want to buy my own car. I have a job and I don't have a car, so my parents always drive me to work and are always complaining about it. I also ride the bus to school and I'm the only jr schooler on the bus ( we ride wih he middle schoolers) and its embarrassing. So anyways that's why I want a car.

First off can I get a decent car for $3000 max?
Also how much does insurance cost? I am a new driver and my parents have Allstate. I think they would pay for insurance, but if now how much would insurance be for a used car (probably from the year 2002 or 2003 and how do insurance companies figure out how much to change you) and don't laugh but what exactly does insurance do? And do insurance companies base your grades into your cost? Cause my mom says if you have bad grades you have higher insurance? Is that true?

Also what is the difference between like manual and automanual and stick and all that stuff? I'm no good wih car terms, so if you could explain it like you are talking to someone who doesn't know what a car is that would be awesome(:

Also what are some good used cars that are no more expensive then $3k? Would a Kia rio be a good car that has like 80k miles on it?

I haven't exactly asked my parents if I can buy myself a car yet? I'm pretty sure they are going to say that I should save for college instead. And that I won't use it in college and I'll get the car the summer before my senior year. Do you think I should get a car or should I just use he money for college? If you think I should get a car and pointers to convince my parents? If. Of then why?

If you help me with all of this I will love you forever!! Feel free to add anything else you think I should know!!

Steps on buying first car at 18?

I hope you have been saving as much monet as ytou can and building up your savings. A lot of people do not realize that if you want a car you need to have a down payment of at least 1500 to 3 grand and plan on 3 or 4 hundred a month to make payments every month.
if you have not been putting savings in the bank you will have a hard time making a large payment like thats. buying a private party car is another way to go the car is paid off and if it breaks its on you. so be sure and have a good mechanic check out any car you find to be sure it runs as good as the owner seems to think.

I am thinking about buying a porsche 911 model 997?

I totally disagree with the person who states that a Tiptronic is only for a Cayenne... what a stupid comment !!!
Tiptronic is for enthusiast who want to drive the car both ways, in case that guy does not know, it can be driven manually and automatically, that's the whole idea behind Tiptronic and comes from the F1 cars !!!!! I guess he thinks Hamilton and Alonso don't know how to drive. What a mediocre knowledge he has about cars.
I think a Tiptronic is for you if you want an easier way to drive and have the freedom to decide whether you want to drive faster or just enjoy the road. A manual car only is boring in usual city traffic and if your legs hurt due to sports or strain... it can be a pain in the a...
There is a reason why Tiptronic cars are more expensive and have a higher resell value.

as for "normal" Porsche or a S one, well the S is exciting and the wider air kit and all make it look amazing. if you have the money.. get the Tiptronic S !!!! Wow, and if I you will configure it from factory, go for the yellow on black with the yellow safety belts... it is out of this world, no ferrari looks that cool.
have fun shopping and I hope this helped.

Which car should I get for my FIRST CAR?

So im trying to decide on my first car and was wondering whether I should get around a 2004 Audi A4, around a 2006 Dodge Charger, or either a first or second generation Mazda Miata. I know the Miata isnt very big but im in love with that car i also understand that it is a manual car which isnt a big deal to me either. I do not know much about the Audi A4 or the charger but I have always loved both of the cars. So please let me know some ideas oon what I should get. If you say what car please describe why also if you say the Miata please describe whether i should get the first gen or the second gen. THANKS!

One of my headlights is not working and ive replaced it with brand new bulb and it still doesnt work.?

I have a 1999 Chevy Malibu. I dont touch the new bulbs with my hands, the bulbs are good, what could be the problem. The other headlight works, and both highbeams.

I have $50,000, what is the best way to help my 18 year old son?

Buy him a decent used car, a year's worth of insurance, a AAA membership, and a line of credit at a trusted local repair shop. That's it. A reliable car which does not leave him in debt is the greatest gift you can give an 18 year old boy. That car will open doors to many opportunities for him and he will forever be grateful.I suggest a Toyota Solara or a Honda Accord coupe… but be sure to get the V6 engine. One with low miles that has been well maintained with regular oil changes and a new timing belt. If it does not have a decent stereo with an AUX port, install one. The car and a year's insurance and AAA should cost about 5K. Put the other 45K aside and do not let him know about it. Years later he will need that money a lot more than he does now.Teach him how to check the oil and change a tire. Make him read the owners manual and quiz him on it. Give him a schedule of when maintenance is due. Enroll him in a Defensive Driving course. Buy him a roadside emergency kit, first aid kit, winter survival kit, and a fire extinguisher to keep in the trunk… teach him how to use these things. You have just given him a huge advantage over most of his classmates. None of them know about changing a tire, let alone any of those other things. All they know about is online forums and videogames.Get him a reliable inexpensive car and teach him about responsibility and safety. Trust me on this.C. R. Jahn, author of FTW Self Defense

Which car to choose? Sonic, Accent, or Mirage?

I’m looking at a new car soon to replace my 2005 Ford Focus. It’s been a good car that I enjoy driving, and aside from small issues, has been reliable.

This will be my first ever new car and I don’t want to spend too much, and hopefully my goals are realistic. Looking for something that can achieve at least 34mpg highway, hatchback with four-doors, is roomy for my 6’5 frame, has a manual transmission and cruise control, would prefer American but not a requirement, can be somewhat fun to drive, and feels solidly built and will be reliable, as I really want to keep it for ten years. My budget is in the neighborhood of $16k and I’ve looked at all of the cars in this price range and narrowed it to three:

The Chevrolet Sonic, Hyundai Accent, and Mitsubishi Mirage (Fiesta and 2 are way too cramped, Note and Versa too boring, and not a big fan of Honda, so no Fit)

I like all three for completely different reasons and can’t decide. I’ve test driven all three and am familiar with them

I like the Sonic for its style, digital instruments, handling, and that it’s made in Michigan. I don’t like that it has a short warranty and I’ve had some bad experiences with Chevys in the past

I like the Accent’s roominess, cargo space, performance, solid feel and warranty. However, it doesn’t have a spare tire and has terrible rear visibility

Lastly, I am drawn to the Mirage for its quirkiness, fuel economy, features, warranty, and value. But Mitsubishi’s future is uncertain, and being a three-cylinder, this car could be a drag during a long drive

Anyone have any experiences with owning these or any input?
