Looking To Get New Car Last Long Time Basic Type Car Low To Moderate Price Good Mileage Suggestions

What mileage is preferable when buying a used car?

10–20k miles a year is normal for a car. If yours has lots more than that or lots less than that you are more likely to encounter problems.Milage is a really poor indication of a car’s condition. A 5 year old car with 25k miles on the clock is very likely to be a shopping car, lots of short journeys and lots of start-stop city driving which put huge amounts of wear and tear on a car. Whereas the same 5 year old car with 100k miles on the clock is very likely to have been driven at constant speed for long distances, putting very little wear on the car. Out of the 2 I’d buy the 100k one every day.

What is good milage for a 10000-15,000 dollar car?

It depends on what kind of car you get. If you get some kind of old v6, mid 20's is decent. If you get a little four-banger, mid 30's. If you get an old v8, you you might get 15-20 mpg.

I have $3500 to buy a car. Wanting an older Mercedes?

@ Everyone. My brother bought a 1999 Lexus 3 years ago. The mileage was around 90k. He now has 150k miles on it and he hasn't done a damn thing to it except rotate tires , brakes, and oil changes.

I could get into a car payment but F@#$ all that when I have the cash to buy a car.

I'll be damned if I buy a POS Grand AM.

I was just wanting to know if one model of Mercedes seems to hold up better than the rest.

And as for you people calling me broke. I'll bet my $3500 that I have set aside that you don't even have $2500 in savings period.

What's the best first car for a teenager?

One, don't get a new car. Their inexperience increases the chances of an accident.
Two, don't buy a used sports car, IE, Mustang, Camaro, etc. You're taking the chance of buying a car that's been driven hard & may wind up being a maintenance headache. Not to mention, it'll be tempting for an inexperienced driver to see what the car can do.
You'll have higher insurance premiums, especially with a male driver.

Look at buying a relatively low mileage used vehicle. Don't go any bigger than a V-6. Try to buy something that won't send your insurance through the stratosphere. It pays to do some research on different vehicles.
For some basics on reliability, etc. go to http://autos.msn.com To get an idea of what vehicles will cost check out Car Max http://www.carmax.com
Call your insurance company & see just how much different vehicles will affect your payments.
See if the vehicle will fit into the family budget if you plan on paying or assist in paying for the vehicle.

We just picked up a low-mileage 2001 Accord for our oldest girl to drive. So far we've been happy with it. It's small enough for her to feel comfortable & gain confidence. Plus it's not a performance vehicle, so she knows trying to street race someone is out of the question. The gas mileage is good, so she's not going broke filling it up. And yes, she is helping to pay for her part of the insurance.
That's just my experience.

Is 100,000 miles a lot on a Subaru Outback?

Go to www.kellybluebook.com. It's for the "Kelly Blue Book". It's basically the bible of car values. You can put in basic details for the type of car and mileage, and it will tell you how much is a reasonable price.

Is 65,000 Miles on a Mercedes Benz to much?

Im looking to buy a mercedes benz CL500, and it is a expensive car. I found some in my price range with 60k-70k miles on them. I know these cars are built really good, so i was just wondering is 65k-70k miles alot for these cars, or will this car last for like 200k-300k miles.
