I sold my AT&T iPhone on Craigslist because I was short on my rent and needed the cash. I'm not planning on trying to get another one through the insurance because I know that would be fraud through the insurance; I'm just going to leave it alone and be go without the phone. I reported it as lost/stolen so that way the line isn't being used on my plan (I understand I still have to pay the monthly payments). Can I get in trouble by doing this? Can the buyer retaliate once the phone is deactivated and get me in trouble? Will AT&T do any kind of investigation to find out if the phone was actually lost or stolen? Will they be able to find out that I knowingly sold it?
