Why does my lower back hurt when I lie on my stomach?

Answer: sustained lumbar extension is painful.Lying on the abdomen or “stomach” will usually put the lumbar spine into extension (the opposite of curling your spine forward which is flexion). Many swimmers don’t realize that kicking with a kickboard also causes sustained lumbar extension.Brief extension is very helpful for back health. In fact, in my experience back exercises that do not include extension are likely to fail to help. BUT sustained extension is not good for the back.Extend your back when standing or sitting. How? Stick out your chest and throw the shoulders back: that is extension. Or stick out your abdomen. Hold a few seconds and release.By the way: one of the ways that a big belly hurts the low back is that we put the back into extension to compensate for the asymmetric weight in the front. To illustrate this point, hold a heavy object in front of you and watch as you lean backward to compensate.

What can I do to get rid of stomach ache and back pain during periods?

Low back pain during menstruation is typically muscular in nature and thought to be caused by hormone changes. Prostaglandins (hormones released during a menstrual cycle to promote uterine contraction to shed the uterine lining) can affect the lower back muscles. An excess of prostaglandins causes dysmenorrheal or painful menstruation. Heavy contractions can lead to low back pain, as the pain can radiate from the lower abdomen into the low back.Women with endometriosis may also experience low back pain during the menstrual cycle. If this is of concern, you may want to talk to your doctor about this diagnosis and proper treatment options.TIPS TO REDUCE PAINFUL CRAMPING AND LOW BACK PAIN:Some women benefit from starting over the counter acetaminophen or anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, a couple days prior to menstruation.Exercise regularly. Studies show that women who exercise on a regular basis have less painful menstrual cramps and low back pain.Maintain a healthy diet and take nutritional supplements with vitamin B and magnesiumDrink plenty of water to stay hydrated.Apply heat or take warm baths.Avoid caffeine and chocolate.Avoid alcohol intake and smoking. Some women may require birth control pills to help with menstrual pain.If your low back pain lingers past the menstrual cycle or you develop leg pain or weakness, you should seek medical attention, as this may be more than the typical low back pain stemming from prostaglandin release during menstruation.

Bad stomach pains, lightheaded, back pain?

You have pinched muscles in your back to give you your back pains. When back muscles are pinched they can also press onto the nerves, as they leave the spine, going to the organs. Pressure on the nerves to your stomach will cause it to release more gastric acid which is going to burn your stomach and into your intestines as it gets to those areas. When you curled up it took the pressure off the muscles to get some relief To get rid of the pains you have to free up your back muscles to get rid of the tightness and pressure on the nerves and here's how to free them up:
Back:
(do while sitting)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
Those muscles also caused the ones in your neck to tighten up, they share muscles for that to happen. When the neck muscles are tight they restrict the blood leaving the head so less new blood enters the head to result in a lowered oxygen level in the brain. There are three levels of lowered oxygen levels in the brain and they are; feeling very tired; getting dizzy or light headed; and passing out. To get rid of these problems you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to free them up:
Neck Release:
Place your hands behind your head touching your fingers. Press into the back of your neck with them and hold the pressure on them. After 45 seconds slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended. Release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds. For both- for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Lower stomach pain after swimming in pool?

is it normal to have lower stomach pain after being in a pool? I have had this for several days now. I noticed it shortly after getting out of the pool i felt bloated then started cramping. after an hour the bloat went away but im still cramping. and it seems to be right in the center of my lower abdomen. I had a hystrectomy many yrs ago and only have a partial left over still but thats it and have not been sexually active for over a yr and a half so i know it has nothing to do with that, what would cause this? chemicals in the pool being out of wack or what? is that a possibility?

Why do I have pains in my lower stomach after being fingered?

Faint positive pregnancy test with stomach and back ache.?

Hi.
I took 2 pregnancy tests this morning, one was an early detection and the other was one to take the day after missed period. Both came back with faint positives. (they weren't extremely really faint but not dark either).
I also have period type cramping too. Lower stomach and back ache that is dull, not severe. Has anyone had anything like this? Does it sound like normal symptoms or could it mean there is something wrong? Thank you for your replies.x

I have a sharp pain in my vagina, butt, and lower stomach...what could this be?

Pains in the back are usually from pinched muscles in the back. If you pinch muscles in your lower back they can put pressure on the nerves leaving your back going to the body organs. Down there you would have those that go to your ovaries. With pressure on the nerves it would cause your ovaries not to work properly and having missed your period for a year is a good indication that there is something not getting the right messages to the ovaries. The pain would be possible to ease up for the front problems because when you bend or twist your body you can add or remove the pressure that is going to cause some of the problems. You should release your back muscles and see if this helps you get your body back to where it should be. Here is how to release it:
Back:
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

What causes gas pain with lower back pain?

Back pain and intestinal gas can sometimes be related to each other.Trapped gas and bloating caused by lactose intolerance , celiac disease, or IBS, for example, often result in lower back pain or middle pain for sufferers. For more detail visit this article. The abdominal swelling caused by these conditions often puts pressure on the back and spine, causing pressure in the back.If these two symptoms seem to occur in tandem, your bloating may be giving birth to your lower back pain Back pain without gas can be linked to a number of medical conditions.Standing or sitting for excessive lengths of time , especially with poor posture, can cause upper back pain, especially back pain between the shoulder blades.stretching and regular exercise can help relieve back pain of this kind.Flexion, overwork, carry heavy objects, or exercise can also cause too much back pain.Backache on his side Left or back pain on one's right side is usually caused by poor posture or overwork, and is usually not a sign of a particular chronic illness. If your back pain occurs suddenly after engaging in any of the activities mentioned above, it is likely acute pain that will dissipate in the days or weeks to come.Sometimes back pain can be chronic, lasting for months or years. If your back pain does not resolve in a few weeks, or has become much worse over time, you may be suffering from one of the following conditions:Shoulder contracture ("Frozen Shoulder")Ankylosing spondylitis / AS(chronic inflammation of the spine and other areas of the body)Sciatia(pain caused by compression of the sciatic nerve)Degenerative disc diseaseLumbar stenosis(a narrowing of the medullary canal that causes pressure on the nerves, as well as the spinal cord)Osteoarthritis(degeneration of the joints)

After doing crunches, my lower stomach is sore for days...?

There is one noticeable problem with this question:

You have no fundamental understanding of how muscles work.

There are 2 types of exercises- aerobic and anaerobic. AEROBIC is Doing exercises that dont really challenge the muscles, but work cardio (aka playing basketball or running) can be done every day, and they simply burn fat and calories, and get ur circulatory/cardio system working better. (this is AEROBIC)

anaerobic is a work-out that challenges the muscles themselves more than the actual circulatory system. Anaerobic exercise breaks the muscle(s) down the 1st night of sleep, and repairs them the 2nd night of sleep. SO if you did crunches on wednesday, thats FINE but you should get enough sleep both nights, and then do them on FRIDAY. that leaves 2 nights of rest inbetween for them to break down, and then grow back/repair bigger and stronger... get it? thats y bodybuilders dont work out the same muscle group 2 days in a row, ever. (except SOMETIMES calves, if they're used to it)

Since u can only do aruond 80 crunches, and thats low for abs, this is most definitely an anaerobic exercise for you. You should have waited 2 days after wednesday to work them out again. Yuo can work them out as much as you want for one day, for example if u did 5 sets of 80 crunches that would be PERFECTLY OK... but once u sleep and the muscles break down, u NEED to wait a day until they repair themselves the next time u sleep!

==================

In conclusion: You pulled a muscle. Ice it, take hot baths, stretch it out, get 9 hours of sleep from now on, wait 2 days inbetween anaerobic exercise from now on, drink protein shakes and eat healthy foods so you have the nutrition for it to heal faster, stretch it out slowly/gently and massage it, ab stretching exercises, yoga....

and wait about 3 more days before you work it out again- if it still hurts like its injured at all, wait another day, or until it stops. (But dont baby yourself- realistically, 3 days should be more than enough)
