Lower Back Pain And Upper Leg Numbness What Could It Be

Loin pain and thigh numbness?

This sounds like sciatica. I have it. here is some info on it from about.com.

Pain, numbness and/or weakness down the leg are the main symptoms of sciatica.

Sciatic pain is generally most noticeable as pain that radiates from the buttock area down the leg. Pain is usually on one side of the body, not both. Initially, sciatic pain is mild and grows in intensity - sometimes to unbearable levels - over time. There is usually little or no pain in the low back (although sciatica originates in the low back).

Nerve pain, such as a mild ache, and/or sharp, burning, tingling or electrical sensations, is caused by irritation to the sciatic nerve.

Worsening of symptoms may be brought about by coughing, sneezing, laughing and similar reflexive actions. Sciatica symptoms also tend to become worse if you sit for long periods of time. This is due to the pressure sitting puts on the nerve, which irritates it. Symptoms of sciatica also may worsen after long periods of lying on the irritated area, and after long periods of walking.

Numbness or weakness of the leg or foot is another symptom of sciatica. Should weakness of the leg or foot get progressively worse, and/or if there is a loss of control or feeling of the bowels or bladder, you may have a serious condition called cauda equina syndrome. Seek medical attention immediately.

Lower back pain w/ numbness: SUPER, IMMEDIATE emergency or no?

About two weeks ago I noticed a numbness in my left leg whenever I sat down for more than a few minutes. I've done a lot of sitting at the computer over the years, so I paid it no mind; I figured that all I needed was to take breaks more often and all would be well.

Not so. Six days later I had terrible lower back pain; my leg was throbbing I couldn't sit in any position without agony. It so happened that the day this occurred I was at the doctor's for a sudden headache and nausea I'd contracted over the course of two days. I mentioned the back pain to him and he told me that it sounded like a slipped disk that was pinching a nerve; he told me I should probably go see another doctor to get an MRI when I went home (I'm in college at the moment; I won't go home for another three months)

The back pain went away in a few days with the help of some ice packs and lots of bed rest. But my legs and occasionally toes still go numb when I sit. I'm hesitant to see the doctor again, because this

Why do I have lower back pain and numbness on the left side and middle back pain and numb on the right side?

I started going to a chiropractor 6 weeks ago for back pain that began suddenly and without explanation, and have been going the chiropractor twice a week since then. My pain originated in my upper back and was exacerbated by stress and tension. In addition to the chiropractor appoints, I've also been getting massages about 1-2 times a week. The upper back pain has mostly gone, but right when it left, the lower back pain began on my left side. The majority of the pain goes as far down as the middle of my butt, but I can feel slight pulling down toward my knee even. This pain has been going on about two weeks despite massages, chiropractic adjustments, prescription muscle relaxors, and prescription anti-inflammatory medication. Several days ago my middle back started hurting on the right side, also.

Here is the oddest part: At times when my back hurts the most (usually in the evenings and when I'm trying to fall asleep), it is also numb to touch. Not only can I apply very heavy pressure on the sore areas without any pain or feeling, but I can even dig my fingernails in to my back without feeling it. I suppose this sounds like a nerve problem, but I have no idea what sort of nerve problem could have caused my pain to "migrate" to different places on my back.
I'm desperate for help. Like I've said, I've had this problem for many weeks, despite my appoints with my general practitioner, my massage therapist, and my chiropractor. While everyone is very eager to help me, nothing is making a dramatic difference (including heat, ice, and even a "massaging" heating pad).
I would be so grateful for anyone who is knowledgeable in this area and could help me figure out what is wrong.

Right leg numbness and tingling, neck pain?

Hello. Little info about myself. I am a healthy, active 24 year old woman who has no known health problems. I have however always suffered from headaches and migraines and feeling that my upper back and shoulders are always strained. Recently, I have noticed some numbness and slight tingling in my right leg. I do not completely loose feeling but I def have some decreased sensation.
My whole leg feels it and it never really goes away, but seems to be getting worse. I got a massage two days ago, and although the numbness started before then, it has gotten worse since the massage. Every now and then. My finger tips in my right hand will tingle. I have always gotten headaches at the top of neck on the right side....and recently it's been hurting there. Anyone know what this may be? I have an appt with a neurologist on oct 11 th. Thanks !:)

I have pain and numbness in my right arm and leg. What is causing this pain?

The discomfort can range from the flank area (your back, on the side of the problem, just below the rib cage - around to the lower abdomen and groin on the side of the problem. Men can get referral to the same side testicle as well.

Do kidney stones cause leg numbness? It is not sciatic pain.?

I doubt it's the kidney stone, but I'm not a doctor. Sounds like you need to see a doctor if it keeps happening because it could be many things including a reaction to the pain med they gave you at the ER depending on the med. But since you asked:
