Lowest Amount Of Years In The Navy

What navy jobs require the least amount of math?

Swabby

Whats the shortest amount of time you can enlist in the navy?

The whole contract term is 8 years. For the majority of the jobs, it is 4 years Active Duty + 4 years Inactive Reserve, but for some jobs that require longer training, then 6 years Active Duty + 2 years Inactive Reserve. When you are on IRR, it only means that you can be recalled back (but I don't know the last time the Navy has done that); you can get a job/go to school or just lay around the couch doing nothing.

Navy jobs that require least amount of traveling???

With the exception of a few ratings, a Sailor fresh out of "A" school or Apprenticeship Training will likely spend 42-60 months on sea duty. Sea duty doesn't necessarily mean you'll be on a ship the whole time. If you choose an aviation job, you could be assigned to a squadron. On the other hand, you could get orders to shore duty and spend your first 2-3 years on a shore base. Too many variables come into play to accurately tell you what would happen.
Just to clear up some confusion, IT's (Info. Sys. Techs) most certainly deploy on ships. The current sea/shore rotation for an ITSN is 5 years sea duty/2 years shore duty. Next, it's true Seabees aren't assigned to ships, but their sea duty (deploying overseas) is probably more arduous than a "haze gray" Sailor. They deploy for 7 months, return for 7 months, etc. continuously during their sea time. If you're not wanting to be on a ship you may want to consider a job in one the Crypto (CT) ratings. The Navy is in the process of overhauling the sea/shore rotations to make career decisions a little more predictable. See the link below. Lastly, if you're not wanting to travel much, you may want to consider other career choices since the nature of sea service is to maintain an overseas presence. Whatever you decide, Good Luck!

What enlisted jobs in the airforce work the least amount of hours?

Wow! Unbelievable. Don't even bother if you don't want to do the work.

ETA: Yeah... 8 hours a day, M-F, and those kinds of job rarely deploy.... so yeah.... freeloading!

Try the schedule that hubby and his guys have been pulling for the past 2 months.... 6 days a week, 12-14 hours a day, and then add in 4 month deployments. Oh, and most of them are taking college classes every term. You would never cut it!

Honey... you don't even know what the love and support of a good spouse will do for a man working such lousy hours.
Not security forces.... aircraft maintainer. Prior to that.. restaurant manager. And when you see him, don't forget to call him Chief!

And seriously... you should know the answer to this.... anything in the admin section! Those are the folks that routinely work M-F, 8-4:30. Some careers at the hospital, but that depends upon the size of the clinic/hospital. Bases with just a clinic... much better hours. Heck, our folk don't even work weekends... there is no ER on base. Full blown hospital... lousy hours are a potential hazard.

Do Navy recruits spend the least amount of time outdoors compared to the other branches’ boot camps?

That’s a good question.Probably.We spent a fair amount of time in classroom, studying everything from knots (the kind with rope) to damage control principles, fire fighting. We did a lot of PT though, running, calisthenics, close order drill, but no obstacle courses, crawling through barb wire, overnight bivouacs, that sort of thing. But my memory, going back 40+ years is mostly outside during the day, always inside after dark, so I think that would be where the big difference lies. After chow in the evening, march back to barracks, and then study, write home, then clean, clean, polish and clean some more.In fact, in the company ahead of ours by one week in the training regimen, someone got the idea thatbis you really wanted the deck to shine, neutral shoe polish, or wax, was the trick. So 88 guys, having gotten their weekly trip to the commissary for basic supplies, tooth paste, comb, cigarettes, etc, each bought two cans of neutral polish. The next evening, they all broke out their cans, and hand waxed it, then buffed it. It looked like glass. They were very proud, got no sleep, but brilliant result.Sadly, the following evening the duty Chief happened to enter the barracks, on the trot, in his socks, to raise hell for something.Upon losing his balance the instant he negotiated a turn down the open space between the lines of racks, he fell over and careened down the floor like a hockey puck on this near frictionless surface. Spinning and bouncing of anythingbin his path, until finally enough energy dissipated. Rumor has it, he spent a week on convalescent leave. The following day, our duty Chief, all the while trying not to laugh, lauded the effort put in by company _______(redacted) forvtheir huge effort, but told us in no uncertain terms, that shoe polish was for shoes, and floor polish was for floors, and strangely, that was why they had different names. He then further explained where he would place, anatomically, any neutral polish found in locker inspections because, in case us bunch of idiots hadn’t noticed, all our footware was black.

How long is a Navy Seal contract?

All roads to becoming a Navy SEAL, end at BUD/S - Basic Underwater Demolition / SEAL Training. There are many routes to get to sunny Coronado California where BUD/S is located, but the only way to become a Navy SEAL is you have to finish BUD/S first. Below are the several options SEAL wanna-be’s struggle with and definitely should know before signing any paperwork with the Navy:Video:- Spec Ops ShootingThe Pre-training instructors are not interested in weeding anyone out at this point. The goal of this training is to teach candidates that they will not survive the next phase of training if they strive for the minimum standards in the PST.This is a longer route to BUD/S and applies to enlisted as well as officers in the Navy who want to attend BUD/S. It is also the same route a former BUD/S student who did not graduate will have to do IF he wants to try to attend BUD/S again. For the Fleet future BUD/S students there is a Pre-BUDS program as well. It is called the Fleet Transition Program where students get TAD orders to attend prior to attending BUD/S.**Many people ask about SEAL Team Six lately. You cannot try out for this team for FIVE Years as an active SEAL at a Team - so do not worry about this step until you get passed a few SEAL deployments.**

Army EOD vs. Navy EOD security clearances?

I was reading over the requirements for both Army and Navy EOD and when it came to security clearances the Navy requires a SECRET clearance and the Army requires a TOP SECRET clearance. I understand the joint EOD school is administered by the Navy at Eglin AFB, any idea as to why the difference?

US Navy... Jobs with no deployment?

There is what we call Sea/Shore rotation.
He might get lucky enough and get shore duty.
Maybe even luckier if he goes back to back shore duty. If he wishes to make 20 and retire early.. he's going to do his sea time.
I haven't heard of one person who has not done any sea time.
Even Navy Career Counselors (NC) have done some sea time since they will have to learn how things work in the fleet. I would say NC's spend the most time on shore. But there are restrictions to becoming a NC.
The shortest deployment I heard is 5 months.
I just came back from a 7.5 month deployment.

While he is on deployment...the military will also give him family separation pay (if married) which is $250/month.

Note: HM/Hospital Corpsman is one of the few rates/jobs that they need in the middle east.

As we say "Choose your rate...choose your fate"
