Lump In 7 Year Olds Neck

I’m a 14 year old boy and I have a lump on my neck that has been growing for years. What cancers are common among 14 year olds?

Cancers very very rarely occur in teens. Most cancers also grow much more quickly than a “lump that has been growing for years”. However teens do get Hodgkins lymphoma. It’s an important thing to know about early because the treatments are less severe although either way, it’s a highly curable cancer. The chances are very high that the lump is not a cancer but could be a reactive lymph node as teens frequently are fighting an assortment of viral infections they are exposed to at school and social events.A trip to the doctor would be helpful to sort it out.

Is it normal for my 13 yr old cat to have a lump in his neck after having blood drawn?

A vet injected my cat with something at the neck... or drew blood... I forget what she did without my permission ;) but a few days later, it got infected -- a lump. It grew and, eventually, broke open. I drained it (by pressing the area around it and sopping up the pus with paper towels). After that, I put (absorbent) Ace Bandages over the hole, wrapped stretchable "gauze tape" (whatever it's called -- adheres to itself, no "clips" needed) around her neck to hold the Bandages in place. (She kept scratching it & often ripped the bandages, etc., off -- it was a chore to keep her from scratching it the wound/hole.) Eventually, I took the Bandages (etc.) off and she continued to heal just fine.

I also gave her a high meat/protein diet. (Protein does not feed infections. Commercial cat foods do, BTW -- my opinion.) I also added Cranberry Juice (pure) to the meat (usually tuna or salmon) -- CJ helps kill infections. [It's found at health food stores and, often, in grocery stores in their natural/organic sections. A 32-ounce bottle costs $7 - $9, but stores well and is usable for a very long time after opening... very long. RW Knudsen Juices often has coupons on its website ($.75 or $1) to help defray the cost. Other brands are equally good. Do not use blends or "cocktails" -- get pure, "just cranberries" juice. Use about one capful to 5 - 6 ounces of fish.]

So, I am guessing the lump on your cat's neck is an abscess (infection). If you can pinch the lump and put your fingers behind it, I think that's a good sign it's abscessed. You can decide what you want to do about it from there -- take him back to the vet or treat it yourself.

NOTE: I am NOT a vet. Use my info/advice at your own risk.

Hope this helps. :)

5 year olds neck veins?

My 5 year old son has prominent neck veins when he laughs, cry's, signs or exerts himself in any way, is this normal, its seem more prominent on the left of his neck, he is quite skinny and very healthy and has always had these veins. I cant seem them when he is relaxed, only under exertion, is it normal for kids to do this, you normally see it in older skinny people.

I have a 7 year old Toy Poodle with a small lump on his neck, I thinks it's a Basel Cell Tumor, Help?! Advice?

It is a good sign that it is small and not growing rapidly. The majority of cancerous masses will grow fast. Also lumps on a poodle are fairly common, don't get your self all worried. You are doing the right thing. I don't think xrays will be necessary, but the doctor will want to aspirate it. Some doctors will send aspirations into a lab, and others will recommend removing it, then sending the entire mass to the lab. You might ask about the cost, at my vet clinic the cost was almost the same either way you went, so we recommended just removing the masses. Your dog is lucky to have someone who cares as much as you do.

Bean shaped lump in my neck?

Don't let the people below scare you half to death, that's how people get paranoid about cancer and god knows what else.

My Doctor told me that lymph nodes are not always symmetrical, if the lymph node is the size of a jelly bean, is soft and moves freely, it's nothing to worry about.

If you can see the lump when you stretch your neck to the side, so if it sticks out then have it checked yes.

I have a lymph node on the left side of my neck that I've had for 11 years and it's about 4cm, I can feel all my lymph nodes and it's completely normal.

Go to your Doctor for a piece of mind, don't go with the intention of being told you have cancer.

There is a 1.1% chance that a lump in your neck would be cancerous.
Don't stress okay :)

What is a hard lump on the the back right of my neck?

Hmm, this one is difficult to answer. There are a number of possibilities as to what it could be, anything from a benign lump, to a symptom of a hidden autoimmune disorder, to cancer. Any one of these things is possible, and it would be unfair of me to tell you which one it is, without having a chance to evaluate it in person. As much as I'd like to help you, I'd be doing a huge disservice to you by attempting to diagnose you over the Internet. In order to get the best information about what it is and what to do about it, you should have it evaluated by a medical professional, who can examine it in person and give you their recommendation as to what it is.From your description, it doesn't sound like anything that needs to be evaluated in the emergency room. Your primary care doctor would be the best person to ask, if you have one. Or an urgent care clinic would work too, if you don't have a PCP or are more concerned about it.

What is this lump in my poodles neck?

Since you live in Florida, and it just showed up one day out of the blue, I'd say that you're probably right that it's an insect bite or sting. If he seems fine, and the bump doesn't get any worse (e.g. opening up. spreading, showing up on other areas of the body), I'd say he'll probably be okay. Just monitor it for the next few days to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Lump on my cats neck - help?

Before you all tell me to take my cat to the vet, please note that I have made anappointment for this coming Saturday. I'm just wondering if anyone may have further ideas of what could be wrong.

My cat is a 7 1/2 yr old spayed female who ive had since she was 5 weeks old. She's had nonhealthproblems. On 11/20 I noticed a small roud lump on the back of her neck. At sone point this lump changed into what is now a larger "lump" on the backof her neck into her shoulder blades. It doesn't seem to hurt her that much, unless I mess with it too much or touch the bottom of it between her shoulder blades. The only other symptom was on 11/29 she had blood in one stool (diarreah). Otherwise she's herself, if not a little more friendly/outgoing as usual.

Any ideas on what I might be dealing with is greatly appreciated.

Lumps on both sides of neck of dog?

My neighbor's 8 year old yellow lab has very large lumps on both sides of his neck right on either side of his throat. Since they are even, i have ruled out cancer or a tumor (right?) but he obviously isnt feeling his best, he isnt as excited about things as usual and has not been eating or drinking much at all. what is probably wrong with him? I want her to take the dog to the vet but i'm not sure she wants to since it could be bad and she doesn't want to put him down. any suggestions? the lumps aren't too tender to the touch and they arne't hard, more like the feeling of fruit snacks. (sorry i know its gross) but they are kind of movable and i can like hold them in my hands, so yes they are quite large.

Cyst on neck for over 3 years!?! HELP!!?

I've had two lumps on my neck for over 3 years now and around 2 years ago they have continued to drain. Every other week they become full and painful and eventually the skin breaks from pressure and it drains over the next few days. I've been to the hospital plenty of times, the first time they performed minor surgery and drained it, but once again after a few weeks it fills up and I'm back to this daily struggle. Sought out another medical professional and her only advice was to apply pressure with a hot towel 5 times a day, it doesn't really help because sometimes it's too painful to go through with. I'm honestly lost at this point and even on days when it's not so much of a bother if I attempt to wear a shirt or jacket that touches the neck (which is almost everything) it will get irritated. PLEASE HELP!
