Lump On The Side Of My Neck For Years

Lump on right side of my neck....?

Dont get too scared :-) I know its hard. Cancer is the worst scenerio out of many possibilities (noncancerous tumors, cysts, infections. . .). Even in the case of cancer, treatments have really improved so try not to worry before you know what you are facing. Go to the doctor to rule out anything serious. Some people have lumps for years, dont check them out and they mysteriously go away. Nevertheless, its important you get checked out to be safe. From personal experience, here is what will prob happen.

The doctor will feel your lump and ask you questions then give you anibiotics to see if the lump goes away. If it does not, they will likely order a ct scan to see if thats the only lump and xray to get a better look. If the doctors feel it could be a tumor after the scans, they will do a biopsy. This happens over a period of a few weeks.

In most cases, the lump is nothing serious. However, I found a lump a couple years ago near my neck that did end up being lymph node cancer, hodgkins disease, but i am healthy and in remission now. It definately can be beat :-)

I wish the best for you. You can email me with any questions. I would love an update too to see how things are going.

Lumps in neck of 16 year old boy?

I'm a 16 year old male, and about a year ago i noticed a small, moveable lump underneath my left clavicle. It is still there to this day, although it has never grown; its a little bit larger than a pea. Early September I noticed some similar lumps on either side of my neck, a bit smaller than the one under my clavicle. There is also a hard, immobile lump right in the middle of my neck, almost as if it was completely grown into my adams apple area.

My mother had a thyroid nodule, so im aware that the hard lump my be a problem with my thyroid as well. But im wondering about the smaller, moveable lumps. I have many small lipomas throughout my chest and arms, so do you think that these lumps in my neck and underneath my clavicle are just lipomas as well? They feel the same.

Also, since they have not grown at all, does this rule out a malignancy or no?

Lump on side of neck?

Hi , MY daughter is 4 years old about a year ago she had a lump on the side of her neck ( behind the ear down to the middle of her neck) it seemed as it went away so I dismissed it as a swollen lymph node... but now a year later she has it again... she was sick a few weeks in a row( started preschool) , which included ear infection. She did get antibiotics for that, but the lump is still there. the doctor sent her out for chest x ray and blood work which came back with good results. now we are supposed to see an ENT. I should mention that the lump seems to be moving when she has her neck straight but if she tilts her head then it seems fixed... she is overall a healthy child. Well my question is what could this be? I'm sooo scared that it might be the big C word... Just wondering if anyone went thru this with their child... and yes we will continue with doctors until we get on answer

I’m a 14 year old boy and I have a lump on my neck that has been growing for years. What cancers are common among 14 year olds?

Cancers very very rarely occur in teens. Most cancers also grow much more quickly than a “lump that has been growing for years”. However teens do get Hodgkins lymphoma. It’s an important thing to know about early because the treatments are less severe although either way, it’s a highly curable cancer. The chances are very high that the lump is not a cancer but could be a reactive lymph node as teens frequently are fighting an assortment of viral infections they are exposed to at school and social events.A trip to the doctor would be helpful to sort it out.

Bean shaped lump in my neck?

Don't let the people below scare you half to death, that's how people get paranoid about cancer and god knows what else.

My Doctor told me that lymph nodes are not always symmetrical, if the lymph node is the size of a jelly bean, is soft and moves freely, it's nothing to worry about.

If you can see the lump when you stretch your neck to the side, so if it sticks out then have it checked yes.

I have a lymph node on the left side of my neck that I've had for 11 years and it's about 4cm, I can feel all my lymph nodes and it's completely normal.

Go to your Doctor for a piece of mind, don't go with the intention of being told you have cancer.

There is a 1.1% chance that a lump in your neck would be cancerous.
Don't stress okay :)

I had had a lump sensation, neck and ear pain for the last 2 years, what could be the problem?

Go to the doctor and tell him exactly what you wrote because if you didn’t it might turn out worse.

Hard lump back right side of neck below the hairline, had it for 13 years?

I'm a 21 year old female and at around age 8 I noticed a lump in the back of my neck. It doesn't stick out or anything but it's just like a pea under the skin that's hard. 13 years later I still have it and it seems slightly bigger. Sometimes it swells and seems larger. Other times it gets smaller and seems to vanish back into my neck. A month or two ago it was swollen and sore to the touch. I know it being 13 years old, if it was cancer it would have killed me by now or shown other symptoms. (i have ringing of the ears though since I was 17 but I don't think that's related)

The main reason I worry is because 1. I read that even year old lumps can be cancer, just slow growing and 2. It acts like a lymph node but its hard and not squishy like a normal lymph node.

If I use three fingers I can move it around and almost pop it out of the neck tissue it's in. The skin over it is not different at all. When i first found it when I was 8 my dad tried finding it and after a few minutes he said he felt something, so it's not like it's a huge lump.

Thanks for any help!
