Mac Is Not Connecting To Tv After Using Mini Displayport To Hdmi Adapter Cable

How do you connect a MacBook Air to a TV using HDMI?

The preferred way is to use a thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter, available from Apple as well as many third-party manufacturers, to which you then plug in your HDMI cable which leads to the TV.  It is of course dependent on the ports on the computer, which may have changed since the MacBook Air was introduced.  Go to the upper left hand corner of your screen, click on the Apple icon, and select "About this Mac".  From that information, look up the specs of your particular bit on the Apple support site.  If you happen to have a mini-display port instead of Thunderbolt, you will need the mini-display to HDMI adapter instead.  You can also ask on the Apple support site. Least preferred would be to go through the USB port.

Why doesn't my mini DisplayPort to hdmi cable work?

Many of them don't work.Apparently, millions of Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cables are being recalled after HDMI Org, the company that licenses HDMI cables, said the cables should not be sold.HDMI Org explained to TechCrunch:The HDMI specification defines an HDMI cable as having only HDMI connectors on the ends. Anything else is not a licensed use of the specification and therefore, not allowed.Apple themselves say...These Apple computers supply only video signals over Mini DisplayPort:iMac (Early 2009) and (Mid 2009)Mac Mini (Early 2009) and (Late 2009)Mac Pro (Early 2009)MacBook (Late 2009)MacBook (13-inch Aluminum Late 2008)MacBook Pro (late 2008), (Mid 2009), and (Early 2009)To connect your television or other HDMI devices to your Mac, use select third-party Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters that conform to the VESA DisplayPort Dual-Mode Standard. How can you connect and view Apple TV on a MacBook Pro with HDMI?

You can’t and don’t need to do this. Apple TV is simply a device full of apps including iTunes etc. So there is virtually nothing on a MacBook Pro that can’t already do what the Apple TV can (except for game apps). So there is no need to connect the two. You can play movies and music on the Mac’s iTunes, you can play Netflix on Safari (or any browser) on the Mac, you can play YouTube on Safari (or any browser) on the Mac.Now what you can do is connect your MacBook to Apple TV wirelessly so that you can display your MacBook screen thru Apple TV on to a TV connected via the HDMI cable. So, let’s say you had downloaded a movie to your Mac and wanted to display it on your 55″ LCD TV, you would run it via Airplay to the Apple TV connection to the TV. For Airplay to work, the Apple TV and the Mac would have to be on the same wifi connection. By the way you can also do this with an iPad using AirPlay via Apple TV

Problems connecting Macbook Pro with HDMI TV?

I have a Macbook pro, 2011, with a mini display port. I connected it to my tv with a mini display port to HDMI cord, then changed the channel to the corresponding HDMI Channel. The TV and computer sync, with a blue screen.
Then the TV flashes black, static, and then my computer screen, over and over again. It flashes each only for a couple seconds, and I think I hear an occasional buzz from my TV?
I was hoping someone had a clue as to what is wrong-is it my TV, Cord, or Computer? Anything I did wrong?
Thanks for the help-it is much appreciated!

Cannot connect mac book pro to hdmi Tv?

1 - Check your software update. Perhaps you need a software update? Something like a video feature could be impacted by such.

#2 - Do you have any alternate Macs you can test the adapter on (friend's perhaps?)? Manufacturing flaws do happen, so there is always a possibility (even if rare) that the adapter doesn't work.

#3 - Did you double check with the store that you bought an appropriate adapter for your model of MacBook Pro? There have been minor version changes to ports such as the Mini Display port, such that you want to make sure someone verifies that the adapter is appropriate.

Macbook Air's thunderbolt (mini display port) to Display Port or HDMI, is there any difference?

DisplayPort (the protocol) is capable of sending higher-quality video output at higher refresh rates than HDMI is.  But, given that you have a MacBook Air, you actually can't push higher rates than your laptop can support to push over HDMI.  So, for you they are the same. One potential difference you might encounter, is that while both DisplayPort and HDMI support sending audio over the wire, in my experience some of the Mini DP to HDMI adapters do not support also sending audio.  So if your monitor has speakers or an audio output port you wish to use, you may lose that ability if you're using a DP to HDMI adapter.  Generally, DisplayPort is (currently) the standard you'll want to use for displays if your computer and monitor supports it.  It (currently) supports higher bandwidth than HDMI.  There's a new HDMI 2.0/2.0a standard that is just coming out but pretty much no computer equipment and very few monitors/tvs have support for it.TL;DR: Go pure DisplayPort as long if you can

How do I connect a Mac mini to my TV?

In order to connect your Mac to the T.V. you have to purchase an VGA cord. The best ones to purchase are those that come equipped with the audio cord as well. The best place to find a bargain for these things is on Amazon.com. However, since you have a Mac, you will need to purchase the DVI to VGA display adapter for connecting Macs equipped with a DVI port to an external VGA monitor or projector at home, office or to have handy while on the road. With this adapter, you connect it to the VGA cord and then connect it to your laptop while you connect the other end to the rear of you T.V. which should be labeled "RGB" or "VGA" and that's where you connect it to. You might have to configure the settings on your laptop to fit the screen size however.

After you connect them together via the VGA cord, you must go onto your T.V. and select input. Once you have done that, scroll down to the RGB selection and select that. If your laptop is configured correctly, it should all work immediately. Don't do anything with your laptop though until you connect your laptop to the T.V. and select RGB and see if it works.

Connecting MacBook Pro via HDMI?

No difference in quality.

The video signal carried by HDMI is in fact DVI-D, so the image quality is exactly the same as DVI.

The only difference is that the HDMI jack on the monitor can also receive digital audio, which is moot anyway if you use a DVI-to-HDMI adapter (which does not transmit sound-- It's video only).

Stick with DVI.
