Macbook Stuck On Mute Help

I have a macbook pro 2010 and the volume is stuck on mute...?

I would honestly take a walk to the nearest Apple store. If you are not near one, then get on the phone and arrange to have them send you a box and then have the box picked up. What they will do is correct what is wrong, and then go through the rest of the machine just to make sure there is nothing more and send it back to you.

What you need to do before that is go to the Apple.com and there is a section where you can tell a person what is wrong with the laptop, then you get some best guesses on how they could correct it. They really do a pretty good job, and it is free. I would tell you the exact page but I can never remember. I do know you go to apple.com click on support in the banner that takes you to the support area. Then I get lost. Also go to contact us and find a user group in your area. You would be surprised at the talent in some of those groups, and in others you wonder how they found each other.

May have found something for you. Go to this URL. It is a discussion area. This will get you there and it looks like your computer has a friend with a similar problem.

Why won't my MacBook un-mute?

try this:
1) open system preferences
2) find sound (or audio some times its under different names)
3) click the output tab in the sound section
4) select the internal speakers or built in speakers (it has a name with internal in it i am not sure of the actual name)
5) restart your mac for a good way to finalize the change

Macbook headphone jack not working?

okay i have a white macbook 1,1 A1185 10.6.7, and my external speakers work, but when i plug headphones in, they dont work at all, i have tried many headphone pairs on it, but i have noticed when i kind of push the headphone jack towards the charger port, i get sound but i have to hold it like that, any ideas?

What should I do if my MacBook headphone jack isn't working?

I've had this happen to me a couple times.First, try unplugging your headphones out and back in. Yes, sounds silly but sometimes it's that easy. (Happens sometimes if you can't seem to raise volume with keys on keyboard. If no luck...Try holding down the option key and click on the sound icon on the very top nav of your macbook. Doing this will reveal additional options(you can actually try this on most of the icons up there, like wifi). Check the "output device" and make sure it's not trying to send the audio elsewhere (such as apple tv). You should ideally see an option that says "headphones" on that list. Click it.If no luck..If you do not see headphones on the list described above, try a simple restart.  That tends to get everything back to normal.

Why does my sound get locked on my MacBook Pro and how can I fix it? Is this a big enough problem that I should be taking it in to the store. It has happened to me maybe 3 or 4 times and I have owned my laptop for about a month.

This answer comes very late, but if you are still having this issue here is what to do:Look in the Sound control panel in System Preferences under the Apple menu.Make sure Input is set to microphone and Output is set to Internal Speakers.Open Audio MIDI setup; it is in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder.Make sure that it is set to Built-in Output.Sometimes these settings get messed up. Adjusting them should fix your issue. If not, try resetting the parameter RAM by restarting and holding down the “P”. “R”. and “Option” keys until the computer automatically restarts itself three more time. Then check the Sound settings again.

Where is the built-in microphone located on a MacBook Pro?

MacBook Pro’s traditionally have the microphone placed at two distinct locations. The MacBook Pro 15″, with space for the speaker grid on both sides, usually have the microphone positioned under the left speaker grid. The MacBook Pro 13″ (before the 2017 model), with more limited space, so no speaker grids, has the microphone positioned on the left bottom part above the ESC key on a very delicate grid of mini-holes.The MacBook Pro 13″ (current model), has speaker grids and usually have the 3 microphone array positioned under that area. And for information only, the MacBook Air has it on its side. The 2012 model one mic and the 2013 two mics.It is a very interesting question and my first natural assumption was that the microphones would be located on the display hazel at the top part close to the camera… wrooonngggg :-)Best regardsLeonardo
