Mail From Non-spam Senders Sorted Into My Spam Folder

How to delete bulk mail folder?

Hi James,

The spam folder can't be deleted. We make every effort to deliver solicited email directly to your Inbox, though sometimes we can incorrectly send a message that you have requested to your Spam folder. We have listed some tips below that you can use to try and avoid this.

Tips to avoid having emails designated as spam:

* Check your Spam folder: Periodically check your Spam folder to ensure that you do not miss a message.
- You can move a message from the Spam folder to your Inbox: Check the checkbox beside the message and select the Not Spam button.
- Using Not Spam "educates" our filtering system: By sending these examples to Yahoo for review, it will increase the effectiveness of Yahoo Mail's filtering system.
* Add them to your Contact list [ http://yhoo.it/177F1SG ]: Adding someone to your Contact list ensures they won't end up in your Spam folder.
* Create a filter [ http://yhoo.it/1dL45yk ]: Create a filter for a specific sender if you want to ensure that their messages will always appear in your Inbox.
- Filters automatically sort your incoming messages into the folders of your choice, according to rules that you set up.
- With filters, you won't need to read through each message and decide where to put it.

Hope that helps!

In Gmail, how can I block the emails in my spam folder?

You want it so those emails won't show up any where in the account? Not even in the spam inbox? You could try setting up a filter for those specific emails. I dunno how you are sorting them, or which criteria you are using, but you can just try setting a filter. If, for example, you want to make emails from abc@abc.abc not show up in any Inboxes, create a filter that will look for emails addressed from that email (or whatever search criteria you want), and set that filter to automatically send those emails to the trash or have deleted, skip the inbox, never mark important, etc. They will still show up in your trash, but not for long because the trash is periodically emptied. But you'll never be notified of the emails because it gets automatically archived and then deleted.

Anyone know how we get bulk emails that have no sender listed?

That has to do with Domain Keys. Spammers can send email out, but that can't receive a response email or they don't want a response email.

When you have received an email in your Bulk folder, yahoo already knows that it is Spam. When you receive an email in your Inbox that is Spam, by clicking the Spam button, you have also notified Yahoo "security." More than likely, Yahoo already knows about it anyway.

To STOP receiving all unwanted email, do the following:

Log into your Email, go to Options (upper right hand side). Go through all your settings and don't forget to save them too.

Under Spam Protection, make sure your Spam Guard is turned ON. Option to immediately delete all Spam messages. This will force all new email to redirect to your Inbox. Option to Block messages that you mark as Spam. If you plan on keeping your
Bulk folder, also option messages you mark as Not-Spam to be moved to your Inbox. Always Option to Block all Images until you can look them over first. This prevents spammers from knowing you opened their email. Save Changes.

Under Blocked Addresses, type in spammer.com, this will stop all Spam that has been reported to Yahoo from ever entering your email. I recommend you remove everything on your list first. This will give you a fresh start after you type in the "spammer.com".

Under General Preferences, Folders/Search Results, Special Folders, option to redirect incoming unsolicited email to the Bulk Folder. Save.

If you get email from someone you don't know, NEVER open it (it may contain viruses) and report it as SPAM. This will automatically block it from your email account. When you do open an email that is Spam, you have alerted the sender that your account is Active.

This will immediately stop all the Junk Mail considerably. I only get maybe one or two Spam emails a Month.

Good Luck!

How does the Gmail spam filter work?

Spam detection basically works on the basis of "filters" (settings that are constantly updated based on new technologies, new spam identification and the feedback given by Gmail users about potential spammers.)Spam filters use either the text filters, or it eliminates the threats based on senders and their history (whether the sender was reported or not, etc.)1) Text Filters:Text filters work by using algorithms to detect which words and phrases are most often used in the spam emails. Phrases like “male enhancement,” “vicodin,” and “online pharmacy” are often an immediate flag for removal by filters. Spammers have gotten wise to this, and often use blatant misspellings or even substitute characters (v1cadin for s4le) in order to make it past the filters.Fortunately, modern spam filters also make allowances for these types of misspellings and if a word comes up, even with character substitutions, the message will still be blocked.2) Client Filters:In addition to simple text filter algorithms, the top spam filters use client identity and history to block malicious or annoying spam e-mails. Now, how does a spam filter work? Well, this is done by looking at all of the messages a certain user has sent out. If they send out huge amounts of emails constantly, or if several of their messages have already been marked as spam through the text filters, their emails will often be blocked entirely. This brings us to the use the blacklists.Spam filters also include a blacklist. Blacklisting is simply the process of adding the known email address of a spammer to a list. This list prevents any inbound messages from the email address going forward. If you mark something as a spam, it will go in this blacklist. And it may also help Google (Gmail) make a note of certain key words in that spam mail. Reference- Page on Google. So that's the outline of spam detection; the real time processes are a lot more complex and consume a lot of data, too.

Spam filter for thunderbird?

If you’re using Thunderbird I can show you a smart solution: set up message filters and have Thunderbird auto-sort messages into different folders of your choice.

In Thunderbird go to >”Tools” >”Message Filters”.

From the >”Filters for:” menu choose the account you wish to set up a filter for. Then click the “New…” button on the right side and the “Filter Rules” window for a new message filter will open. You can set as many rules as you like, for example mails from your mom’s eMail address that contain your sister’s name in the message body and are CC’d to your dad should be sorted into the urgent family business folder. For each new rule click the + button behind the last rule.

You can also sort several different mails that you receive on a daily basis into one folder. For example set up a rule that catches all mail from MakeUseOf (Sender contains MakeUseOf.com), then set up a different rule within the same Filter for each of the other newsletters or eMail updates you would like to sort into the same folder.
