How can I stop feeling so anxious over choosing a college major and make the best choice for myself?

That sounds like a lot of pressure to have at 18. It also sounds like you've really done your research on careers and have found what you don't like which is good to know now. I know several people that graduated with degrees that they later found out really wasn't the career for them or they ended up going back and getting another degree in something completely different. For myself, looking back I wish I had understood my own personality more. 16personalities is good website using the Myers-Briggs method. After taking the test, in the results it does tell you some careers that your personality is typically good at. Perhaps also sitting down with your parents and telling them how much pressure you are feeling right now? It's a lot of weight on your shoulders for a 18 year old to have to decide. Praying for you!

College separation anxiety help?

So I'm going into my second year of college, and I have major separation anxiety when it comes to leaving my parents. I posted something about this last year, and I figured my anxiety wouldn't be that bad this time around, but it's the same thing. I'm not sure why I have such anxiety about leaving my parents, because they've never been super protective or anything. They've always wanted me to go off to camp or sleepovers, but I've never been comfortable with either. So college is obviously a big issue for me. I'm worried about what my new roommate is like, as well as managing 16 hours of school, a part-time job, and joining a sorority. One of the classes I'm taking is the most failed course at my university, and I'm also taking a foreign language intensive course. I know my roommate from when we were little, but we lived in different towns and didn't talk all through school, so I don't know much about her really.

So basically I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any advice for me? I'm REALLY desperate to get this stress off my back so I can enjoy the rest of my summer.

How do Engineering Majors handle anxiety?

In the following order1.) I meet with a therapist at least once a month to discuss my problems and ways I can handle them. 2.) I have testing accommodations at my school, meaning I take each exam alone in a room . (with cameras so I don’t cheat). I close out the world and focus on the test.3.) I lift weights to relieve stress and on my off days I do stretching with mindful yoga, meaning I try to empty my thoughts and be in the moment. 4.) I was on Prozac for a semester and it taught me that many of the anxieties I was having were unhealthy. Now I can more or less feel like I did on Prozac but without the Prozac, this is because I had Anxiety Disorder. 5.) I meet with an Academic Coach to help me organize my time.6.) I have a very easy job that lets me have time off to work on my studies. 7.) I make music on my computer at home. I feel like I’m in a different world when I have all of my music toys and have my headphones on. I can make anything I want to and no Professor is going to give me a bad grade for it. I think it sounds good and thats all that matters. 8.) I get very good sleep, no matter what. I can study with good sleep in 2 hours what would take me 4–6 without good sleep. When you do not sleep, science shows your brain starts eating itself. Not good at all. 9.) I eat healthy when I can and I eat enough carbs and vegetables to have energy and keep my brain healthy. I also drink lots of water. All these things have helped me grow into a healthy person who can feel okay at school. Before I felt like hurting myself or others at school. I felt like a failure. Now I think I am just doing okay.My advice: You have to change something. You’re not supposed to feel bad and tough it out. It will not get better that way. Fight for your happiness. Grow. Be better each day. You must work to be happy NOW, not later.

Public Speaking anxiety: please help!?

Know your subject of your speech well.
You are not up front so that the class can critique you...you are there cause you have something to say.
I love public speaking and you can enjoy it when you quit looking down at your audience all of the time. Look towards the back and side walls.....
Say what you need /want to say and soon it will be all over with and you will have done your best♥♥

Is it okay to skip school for depression due to social anxiety? I have never missed school. Can I take one day off?

Go start seeing a therapist ASAP for your anxiety + depression. You may need to go on some meds, if so then the therapist will refer you to a psychiatrist who will prescribe them.Depression is a deep black emotional pit. You don't want to go there, if you can help it. If you are there somewhat, you want to get out of depression before it gets worse. A therapist and the correct doctor-prescribed meds (if needed) will help you with that. If you can get yourself to do so, get outside, walk outside, get some exercise.
