Male And Female Dogs Male Still Humping 1 Year After Being Neutered. All Day Everyday. Why

Why does my female dog hump my male dog?

My female dog is the mother of our 10 mo. old male dog. She is currently in heat(she is getting spayed in three days). We keep them separated when we're not home, but when we're there, we just watch them closely. When she first started her cycle she was very aggressive with him, growling and snapping at him when he came near her. Then two weeks into it, she is still aggressive, but suddenly she humps his head. We've never seen her behave like that with him before. He doesn't hump her at all, he just tries to sniff her rear and bite her hind leg.Why is she doing this?

Why is my female dog always trying to hump my other female dog?

There is probably an association with dominance, but if there is it’s not straightforward. For example, we have owned 9 dogs, 2 males and 7 females. Most of the 7 never ever humped, and the only bitch (female) addicted to humping was one of the most submissive we’ve owned. She simply got the urge to do it.She mainly devoted herself to my wife’s leg, but over the years I saw her hump several other dogs. Most of them must have been dominant with respect to her, if there was any difference in status; but some still tolerated it, for a short while at least. Every dog is an individual, and interactions between them are complex; keep observing and talking to other dog owners.Dogs are fascinating, and after all these years they still surprise me, regularly. If you look at my answers from a month ago you’ll see one about my dog picking blackberries from a bush and eating them; I’d never seen that before.

Will male dogs still go after female dogs in heat after being neutered?

I’ve only had one male dog, Gabe, a golden retriever, so my answer is specific to him and what my vet has told me about male dogs.Neutering a male dog (Gabe was 4 when I adopted him and I had him neutered as soon as possible afterward) will reduce a lot of aggression in a male dog, but if they have had previous interactions with female dogs in season, they could remember that and might still attempt to go through the motions.I am a person who believes in neutering and spaying all dogs - it is a responsible thing to do, plus personally, I would have difficulty giving away a basket of adorable little puppies, so my dogs were all neutered/spayed at 6 months or as soon as I could. The process of neutering has absolutely no affect on the dog’s happiness - even Gabe’s surgery wouldn’t hold him down, he wanted to play immediately and I had to watch him carefully for as long as I could after his surgery.Having Gabe, a male who had been a dog on the run (on the streets) for 4 years before I adopted him, and neutered shortly thereafter, at the same time as I had adopted Gingersnap at 3 months, she was spayed at 6 months and there was no heat season beforehand. However. When these frisky dogs were playing in the backyard, the position of mating happened often, sometimes with Gabe mounting Gingersnap, and other times with Gingersnap mounting Gabe. My vet explained that this procedure was just an act of dominance, triggered by the two of them being frisky - it was actually not a sexual act. So I just asked Gabe to stop as he was quite heavy and I didn’t want to affect Gingersnap’s hind quarters, making them weak or triggering hip dysplasia. And when Gingersnap did it, it was just plain rude, lol, so both of them were asked to stop and they listened to me very well. But really, it is dependent on the individual dog; some dogs aren’t bothered with it, and other dogs still think they have what it takes. I was so fortunate with Gabe, I can’t speak to all breeds of dog. I know Gabe wouldn’t have sniffed the wind to find a female dog in heat and take off to find her.Hope my answers offers some input and doesn’t confuse you more!

Why does my fixed male cat still hump everything?

Ace, my jet black, silken catsonova has the same trait, and he is also neutered. He has made passionate love to my blankets, pillows, the other cats, the dogs, stuffed toys, my leg, arm & shoulder; and probably many other objects I’m happier not knowing about. This is not a neglected cat. He gets laser mouse or wand chasing time every day. He gets cuddles and kisses. He just has a very high libido. When he was a kitten until he was 2 1/2 he would also fold himself in half and suck his own penis. Why? There was no medical problem, the vet checked. I guess it’s just because it feels good. Maybe he’s pansexual. As long as he’s healthy and happy, It really doesn't bother me, and the other 2 cats and 2 dogs have learned to cope.

Can a neutered female dog have sex?

That depends. How much or the vaginal opening was left during spaying. If there was little of non left there can be no penetration.Whether the spay included an oppherectomy or not. Feamels that have not had their ovaries removed will still experience a hormonal heat cycle and attract partners.Whether the particular dog’s sexual appetite is triggered by the mituitary gland or not. The pituitary gland uses sensory feedback to assess the time when best to be fertile and in some cases bitches may go into heat even if they have had theor avaries removes, but this happens more often in priminte breeds that are closer genetically to the wolf. Some bithces are very passive and just don’t do anything about another dog mounting them. They will just look flustered and confused while its happening.Neutered females may or may not be able to have sex or some may or may not allow other dogs to mount them.

Female Dog "Humping" Problem?

I have a female Cockapoo (Cocker spaniel, poodle mix) who does, occassionally, hump.
Shes 9 years old and has been spayed... so I'm not sure if its out of sexual urges or not. =]

Dominance can have a role in it, since the alpha female in a wolf pack is the only female allowed to breed. By humping you or anyone else, she could be trying to declare her role as the dominant one in the pack.

I wouldn't say that it is a problem, but you may have to do a bit of training. Let your doggie know that you are the alpha by stern scolding whenever she begins to get into position. A stern "NO!" should do the trick.

Good luck, and I hope she does well!

Why does my female dog try to hump my leg?

There's more than one reason for that- one is shockingly human, the other a sign that you dog may not be trained properly or with enough force. Reason 1- masturbation. That's right, dogs do it too; it feels good to rub or hump when people do it- dogs like it too. This is nothing to be concerned about, he/she can't hurt you and, provided he/she isn't doing it excessively, usually won't hurt himself/herself. Female dogs usually hump for this reason more than the other one, but that said, male dogs are more likely to hump than females typically. Usually when doing it for this reason they hump other objects also. Reason 2- dominance. Humping is effectively a way for dogs to tell others in their pack "this individual is beneath me and all my superiors" (unless he/she is the alpha) - and they do so with a pungent scent that is "marked" onto the other dog (or person who the dog perceives as equivalent to that) by a gland- you guessed it- at the base of the sheath. (The skin, essentially foreskin, covering the penis in a male dog; the glands are located near the vulva in a female) This cause is often accompanied by other forms of defiance, like mounting, barking/growling with the Ears Erect or Tail Held High, excessive jumping, etc.now, what to do about it- there's no way for me to tell from here which one is the case for you; so I'll give you a vague, but hopefully helpful answer. Step#1: exercise. Up the exercise routine until the dog is panting and reluctant to go on once per day- the main reasons dogs masturbate are the same ones people typically have - it feels good and they are bored Or have too much energy. Step#2: consult with some means of knowledge about pack dominance and training- best done by contacting a professional dog trainer- and determine if you are really the alpha or not. (If he/she is humping you out of dominance, you are not the alpha) then Take Advice From A PROFESSIONAL or have them tame/train the dog. You can make matters much, Much worse if you lack the experience and can not read the dogs body language correctly- in fact you could get bit. Dominance is not a little thing to a dog- everything in a dogs world centers on where it stands in its pack. If it stands higher than you, it's like it is the mayor and you a commoner- he's/she's not going to give up his/her place to you unless you can prove to them you deserve it. hope I helped!

I have a 1 year old male who keeps whining and humping everything! What can I do?

Neutering him will help a lot. Then you may have to train him some also, to stop dominating. This is done by letting him know that you are the leader of the pack, not him. You can be kind and methodical about this kind of training....not hostile. ( rent Dog Whisperer DVD to learn this...easy )

If you can't wait until March 31, you could have him neutered sooner ? Many vets and clinics can take neuter appts within a day or two.

Is is weird behavior if my spayed female dog humps my legs?

It is natural for a canine to mount because to them it is to show the other canines that he/ she is dominant than the one below them. It happens on male-male, female-female and male-female (it does not mean they are mating at this point) The best solution to that is to show her that you are the boss because dogs who are dominant than their owner would not listen to the owner. Here is an exercise that I read in Doglopedia that would help you:

1. Stand over the dog and lift it front legs off the ground. keep it there for 30 sec. reward him verbally if remains quiet. repeat if struggles.

2. Put dog in submissive position for 30 sec. 1 hand over mouth and the other on the chest. praise if remains quiet, if struggle repeat.

3. Do obedience exercises (sit, heel etc.) for 5 mins. praise with treats if good.

4. do it once or twice a week for less dominant dogs. twice daily for really agressive- dominant

hope this helps=]
