Manicure Nail Pain Help

My fingernail hurts help?

first of all- stop biting them!! i have a problem biting my cuticles. there is a version of neosporian cream that has pain relief in it. this is what i have used in the past. i say spend 10 bucks and a tip on a professional manicure and everytime you want to bite, look at how nice the manicure looks. if that doesn't work , imagine how many germs are under a nail, and that you are eating them, each time you start chewing. good luck!

Why are my nails sore after a manicure?

This could be caused by heavy handed filing or sensitivity to a product that was used.A regular manicure is caring for the natural nail, it doesn't involve extensions so it shouldn’t hurt in any way. If you had extensions, removed them, then had a manicure that may explain the soreness after filing and removing the extension. If the filing was minimal, the only other reason I can think will be the products used. You could find out what your nail tech used and both of you discern what could have caused a reaction.

Fingers burned during a gel manicure and I passed out? I'm 14 btw?

I got a manicure yesterday and when she put the base coat thing my fingers started burning. I just assumed that my fingers got injured when she pushed my cuticles back so I didn't think much of it. When she starts painting it with the gel polish it doesn't hurt that much. She painted one nail, made me put it under the light, painted one nail on my other hand and had me put that under the light, and repeated the process. 4 nails in, my fingers start burning like crazy, it felt like they were on fire. I realized that wasn't normal so I told her it hurts but she just said sorry and kept going. I started to feel weak and put my head down. The lady tried to help me stand up to lay on the sofa, but I guess I thought the floor would be a better option. My sister said that all the color left my face and I was sweating a lot and I passed out for a few seconds. After like 5 minutes I was completely fine! Paramedics arrived, said it could be from the fumes but I didn't really notice any smell. My family thinks I was hungry and passed out from that. I ate beforehand, wasn't hungry, and my fingers don't normally feel like they're going to spontaneously combust from hunger. I think it was the pain, probably an 8.5-9/10

tl;dr: severe burning sensation in fingers during a gel manicure, I passed out. Paramedics said it could have been from fumes. The smell didn't bother me so I think it was from the pain.
Why did that hurt so much and what could have caused me to pass out? Is this common?

Acrylic nails, throbbing pain?

I'm sorry about your pain. I used to get acrylic nails years ago and I never recall that level of pain. I do recall my nails would be a bit sensitive for the first couples of days.

I guess the person that did your nails wasn't very gentle? At this point all I can recommend is maybe soaking your hands in cold water to try and relieve the pain. Also, Ibuprofen or Tylenol might at least help the pain somewhat.

If this pain continues, I would definitely call and report this to the establishment that you had the nails put on in.

I hope you get relief soon.

I cut my nail too short and it's really painful and sensitive. What are some ways to ease the pain?

Apply pressure at the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint of the sensitive finger with fingers of the other hand. From the DIP joint area, apply the pressure upwards to the tip of the finger, not downwards. You can do this from the front and back, judging by what feels good for you.Repeat steps 1 and 2 as desired. This massaging motion will attempt to move the skin surrounding the nail groove upwards so as to create a momentary covering around your nail near the hyponychium area, almost like a bedding.Disclaimer: I am not sure how short you cut your nail or how much of the nail bed is exposed, if it is exposed; however, if the nail is cut reasonably short (revealing the hyponychium), this massaging trick should relieve a degree of the discomfort you may feel.Best.

How can I treat a throbbing pain under my fingernail?

Sometimes soaking it in hot salty water can help . The salt can have an effect if there is any small cuts or openings the poor man's antiseptic. The hot water increases blood flow however this increase can raise the pressure and the throbing gets worse. In which case go to the exact opposite end of the spectrum and soak in very cold water. Examine the finger nail area closely to see if there is any build up of blood under the Nail if this is the case a hole must be made to relieve the pressure if you do this yourself use plenty of strong antiseptic and I mean strong under the fingernails is a haven for all sorts of nasty invisible critters. If none of this works a codeine based painkiller is called for and a trip to the quacks. Which fortunately in this country won't cost you a cracker
