Marks Reqd For Ias Ips Kas

Which exam is easier to clear IAS or IPS?

There is no separate exam for IAS and IPS. It's called as Civil Service Exam, which is conducted for some 20 services. Most people opt for IAS above IPS in their preference list. So clearly to get IAS you need to have a higher rank. But there are people who opt for IPS also as their first preference.Having said that let me clear that getting in to the final of CSE is itself very tough. Here even 3–4 marks make huge difference. One of my friend in Indian Forest Service filled only IAS in preference list, no other service. He didn't get any service (though he could have got IPS with a good cadre) because he was 2–3 marks short. But due to upgrading of service he got IAS in December. See that's how close the competition is.

How much 10th and 12th marks matter in IAS interview?

They don’t matter at all. UPSC Panel looks for a well rounded and balanced personality, impeccable intellectual and moral integrity and a general awareness with balanced opinion towards the issues of the day. Moreover if you scored less marks in your class 10 or 12 and still reached the interview stage of arguably one of the most difficult exams in the world, that speaks volumes about your ability. You might be asked to explain the reasons about your low marks in them and if you are able to justify with honesty and portray the learning from that failure, it actually can be advantageous to you because that shows that you have learnt from your mistakes and grew as a person.I can vouch for this as I don’t have extraordinary marks in my class 10 & 12 and still I got very good marks in both my interviews.Yours truly’s marks:Class 10: 79%Class 12: 62.5%Graduation: 61%Interview Marks: 186/300 & 189/275Go Figure!

Is tattoo gonna be a problem for CIVILS (IAS, IPS) selection?

There is no provision given for the tattoos in the official notification released by the UPSC CSE, apart from like that of army notification which clearly says " There should be no tattoo or any kind of religious mark on your body".Secondly, if you’re having tattoo also just make sure it is not visible during the time of interview , as it leads to questioning and may cause or lead to less marking in the interview which may affect your overall score. after your interview then you proceed for your medical tests, and interview is basically one of the most scorable stages (where marking directly effects the rank).Tattoo’s are a point of the judgement just during the interview if they are visible and in sight of a board member but your tattoo will not be a problem if you wear full sleeves. The most important thing, stop thinking about these things and don't be uncertain of things that don't really matter.. Just be clear what you want to achieve your doubts like tattoo can’t become obstacles into your preparation. There are many aspirants i know who have a tattoo (Big tattoos like whole arm and neck)yet they are concentrating on studies.JUST KEEP MOVING LIKE A RIVER, Don't create boulders out of your doubts.

What’s the minimum percentage required in graduation for IAS exams?

As long as you get a graduation degree, you are eligible. It doesn't matter by what percentage you passed.F or appearing in the exam, a degree of graduation in any stream from any university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is required. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying exam and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the certificate of qualification along with the mark sheet to the UPSC before the main exam.A candidate applying for IFS exam must possess a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: animal husbandry and veterinary science, botany, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics, statistics and zoology, or a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, forestry or engineering from a recognized university

Will my graduation marks affect UPSC examination?

It does not matter much. The minimum eligibility for taking up the Civil Service examination is PASS PERCENTAGE IN GRADUATION.So the message is loud and clear from UPSC's side that "It does not matter to me who you were, what matters is only who you are and who you are going to be".See there might be 100 reasons for anyone to be scoring low in their school and college years. It might be Economic, social or personal reasons. But i sincerely feel that this shouldn't weigh a person down in his UPSC preparation. Please understand the demographics of our society. This is the general trend.A large percentage of students who graduate from the top colleges with high percentages in this country DO NOT APPEAR FOR CSE and will be in search of opportunities in the private sector in India or abroad.(Generally)A large percentage of students who graduate with very low percentage in their school and college years do not take up the exam as they think that the exam is too tough and it is not their cup of tea.So the people in the middle i.e.., people who get average percentage and pass out from avg colleges are the ones who mainly apply for the exam every year in large chunks. These are the most aspirational of all the individuals( relatively) and the main competition is between these people. If you take a close look at the result sheet of the Successful candidates, more than half of them will be from this group.Unfortunately the ones from the premier institutes in the country who become successful are given more publicity in the media ( if they are toppers). This creates a feeling in the minds of people that only candidates from Top colleges with High Percentage can clear the CSE.This notion is utterly misleading as the maximum number of candidates clearing the exam each year is from the avg group. So please keep your worries aside as your previous academic performance is not a metric to gauge your present and future performance and study smartly to clear your exams. All the Best and Happy studies.... ;-)

How much percentage in graduation is necessary for appearing in UPSC exam?

Officially, it is 33% from any recognized University. However, try to make it to 60% and above if possible. That will be helpful in three ways :For your own physchological well being. If you make it to Interview Stage, figure of 35% or 45% may make a bad impression of yours , although that may not hurt your Interview marks. In case you plan for a career back-up, minimum of 55% is required in various other competitive exams and in some, it is 60% and above. All the Best for the UPSC preparation. :)
