Math Help Where Did I Go Wrong

What did I do wrong in this math problem?

Before I answer your question I have one query to make, Where is the question? You could've attached a picture of what you did so I can see what is wrong. Some tips I can give for maths are:You just don't apply the formula in every sum. You have to apply your brain. If you think you have done something wrong try to see your mistake yourself before asking anyone. If you still can't find a mistake then consult your maths teacher or ask away on Quora. So if you are having any problem with any sum you have to show the sum for us to correct anything.Hope this helps. Thanks for reading. :)

Grade 9 math help??????????????????????????...

9 1/2 minus 12 1/8
First, make them into fractions instead of mixed numbers
12 1/8 = 96/8 +1/8=97/8
9 1/2 = 18/2 +1/2 = 19/2

Now, in order to subtract you need to get the denominators (bottoms) the same). You can change 19/2 into something/8 by multiplying the top and bottom of the fraction by 4
19/2=(19*4)/*2*4)=76/8

Subtract: 76/8-97/8 = (76-97)/8 = -21/8
Now convert to a mixed terms:
-21/8=-16/8+-5/8=-2 5/8

Make sure when you set up the subtraction you take the closing price minus the opening price. This turns out to be negative because the stock price went down.

What are some tips to help someone who isn’t good at math get great at math?

I am not good at math. However, I noticed something very interesting thanks to Quora. Quora has a lot of questions that look like this:2+x=4 what is x?Some people think that these questions are not sincere because they are too simple. Fair enough. Especially because you don't really need to solve anything. You see immediately that x=2.When I went to school then we had to solve it like this:x=4-2x=2We were told that when you move a number to the other side of = then positive numbers become negative and vice versa. So I could also offer the following solution:2-4=-x-2=-xx=2I realized we were not exactly informed why this mysterious change from positive and negative and from negative to positive happens in the first place. Is = the border between life and death? Heaven and hell? I still don't know but I decided to think about it. I reached the following conclusion (that might be wrong but sort of makes sense to me):I have a small system, a small universe. It looks like this:x=xI get tired of the x on the right. I don't like it anymore. “Go away, x on the right!” The x on the right lowers its gaze and goes away. It leaves nothing behind. I now have this:x=0Except that I have one very big problem. I am not God. I can't make things totally disappear. If I am at home then I can move a stone from the table to the shelf. I can't make it totally disappear in my system. x=0 is no longer the correct system, not the correct universe because if it is somehow connected to x=x then it has inside the information that I am God. I am not God. The information is clearly wrong. I know that I am human. Where did the x on the right go? It has no power to completely leave the system. I must look for hints. When the x on the right went away it left nothing behind. This void has to be equal to the information I have on the left. There is only one way to achieve this powerful witchcraft, be human and keep my system intact.x-x=0So the problem of math is that we are often not told why things are the way they are. We just learn some strange rules by heart and then apply them. We cannot see the full picture.

Math help please- What i am doing wrong?

Your Problem is : when you multiply decimals, you have to take into consideration the digits after the decimal point of BOTH the numbers. What you did wrong was you took the decimal numbers of only one of the two and ended up like this. I'll Tell you a very easy way to remember this:

1. First Take the two given numbers and multiply them as if there were no decimal ie multiply 35.99 and 0.05 as 3599 and 5

2. 3599 x 5=17995.

3. Now count the number of digits after the decimal point in both the numbers ( a zero at last will not count i.e. 36.790 has 2 digits after the decimal and not three).

4. As you see, there are 4 digits together after the point in both the numbers together,

5. Now, in your previous answer ie 17995 put the decimal point after 4 digits from the right ie after 7 from the right and after 1 from the left. so you get 1.7995

BIngo!

Lets take another example - say, 36.76 x 45.5

multiply 3676 by 455 and get 1672580. There are 3 digits after the dec. point in all, so put the decimal point after the third digit from right : 1672.580 and write it as 1672.58 ( as a zero after a decimal at the last has no value)

So The answer to your problem is : 35.99+1.7995 =37.7895 (~$38)

Hope you got it!

Why do I always get math problems wrong?

Mathmatical problems comes with very strong logic and earnest patience and carefulness. Lack of any one of these three factors may cause errors when you deal with some tough questions. Most of people are careless when they do mathmatical calculating even in some very easy counting case. Therefore, if you do bad in one of those three abilities, pay more time on that and you will find after long-lasting practice, some hard problems may seem easier than what you thought.

Help on 5th Grade Math, Did I do this right?

Hi there, yeah, I remember 5th grade - yeach! Anyway

I should point out that my responses to your query is based upon the idea that you wrote the answers here correctly, and didn't put minus signs where you shouldn't have, or decimal points where they weren't supposed to be.

1. right

2. No, 0.2 is what you wrote down. what you have is Zero point zero two, or two one-hundredths.

3. right

4. Wrong, I'm afraid. (0) + (-6-8) = -14. Remember when you mix 2 numbers with minus signs they add together, just like adding two numbers with two + signs. Like sgns attract, differing signd repel, unlike magnets. Unless you didn't mean to have two minus signs in the equation. If it was supposed to be (0) + (6-8) then your answer of NEGATIVE TWO was correct.

5. This one is wrong also. This one brought me back to the books too, as it was quite difficult. The best way to start here was to convert to simple fractions first, so 4 3/4-1 5/6 becomes 19/4 (4x4+3)-11/6 (6x1+5). Then you take the equation 19/4-11/6 and look for the common denominator for both 6 and 4, which would be 12. So you multiply 19/4 x 3/3 and get 57/12. Then you take 11/6 x 2/2 and get 22/12. So your equation now looks like 57/12-22/12, and the answer is 35/12, or 2 11/12. Whew!

6. I'm stumped about this one as I don't reallt understand what the equation is trying to ask here. Sorry.

Don't know where i'm going wrong :( someone please help me on this Maths Question x?

believe this is what you meant:
√(2.56 + 3.50)
---------------------
(8.765 - 6.78)

= √6.06
--------
1.985

=2.4617
----------
1.985

Then divide to get the answer:
1.24015

Math assignment and my answers. What did I do wrong?

2. A quality control inspection system requires that from each batch of items a sample of 10 is selected and tested. If 2 or more of the sample are defective the whole batch is rejected.
If the probability of an item being defective is 0.05

(i.)What is the probability of 2 defectives in the sample?
I multiplied the probability of 1 defect (.05) by the probability of a 2nd one being defective (.05) and got .0025.

(ii.)What is the probability of the batch being rejected?
I used the same .0025 from my answer above because if two or more defective ones are in a batch, it is rejected.

I know that both of my answers are wrong, but I don't know how to find the right answer, which is why I need your help!
