Maths Products Of Algebraic Expressions

Help ! In math with writing algebraic and word expressions please !?

I'm not sure what some of your typing means, because it's so hard to type math! But I'll take a shot at some of them. The trick with these is to figure out the order of operations. Having a good understanding of English prepositions and such is really helpful here too.

1)2.9 more than 3 times C. Since 3 times C is 3*C, 2.9 more than 3 times C is 3*C + 2.9, because "more" means you need to add something.

2) "product" means to multiply, so the product of h, 4j, and k is h*4j*k

3) a divided by 3.5 is a/3.5. Since "less" means subtract, we have that 2 less than a divided by 3.5 is a/3.5 - 2

4) "difference" means to subtract, so you get 6.3p - 5m

5) "sum" means to add, so the sum of 2m and 4n is 2m+ 4n. 1/2 multiplied by this is 1/2*(2m+4n).

I'm not really sure what you means for most of the others, but hopefully this gives you a start.

An important warning: some of these wording might be considered ambiguous or confusing. For instance, in the first one, it might be interpreted as 2.9 more than 3, times C, which would be (2.9+3)*C. (Compare this to what we did above). A more clear way of wording this problem would be to say 2.9 more than the product of 3 and C. That gives 2.9 + 3*C. If, however, you worded it the product of 2.9 more than 3 with C, it would be (2.9+3)*C. So watch the word order carefully, and ask if you there's any grammatical confusion.

What is the difference between arithmetic and algebra?

Arithmetic and Algebra are two branches of Mathematics. Arithmetic, being the most basic of all branches of mathematics, deals with the basic computation of numbers by using operations like addition, multiplication, division and subtraction. On the other hand, Algebra uses numbers and variables for solving problems. It is based on application of generalized rules for problem solving.Arithmetic and Algebra are two different branches of mathematics. Arithmetic, the term itself has been derived from a Greek word meaning number. It is the most basic branch of mathematics. It is all about numbers, and therefore is commonly used by everyone in day to day life. Elementary Arithmetic works around four main operations which are addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. It simply uses numbers for various types of calculationsHigher Arithmetic is also known as number theory. It is concerned with characteristics of integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers and real numbers. On the other hand, Algebra is another branch of mathematics. The word is derived from the Arabic word al-jabr, which is an ancient medical term is meaning the ‘reunion of broken parts’. It can be considered as the next level of mathematics after the foundation of arithmetic. Unlike Arithmetic, it deals with unknown quantities in combination with numbers. One can easily identify an algebraic operation with symbols X, Y, a, b, etc. It is mainly concerned with rules for manipulating arithmetic operation. It involves powers, algorithm and complex numbers also. Algebra uses products and factoring, quadratic formal and binomial theorems, etc. to reach a solution. Basic algebraic properties are used for evaluation of algebraic equations. For example, 3+7 = 7+3, this is an arithmetic expressionWhereas, a+b=b+a is an algebraic equation, because it will be valid for a number of situations. Arithmetic might show some regularity, whereas algebra would give expression to define these patterns based on the regularities. Thus, Arithmetic can be considered as the computation of certain numbers, whereas Algebra is about generalization of some conditions which will hold true for all number, or all whole numbers, or whole integers, etc.Unlike elementary arithmetic, elementary algebra uses letter for problem solving. However, higher arithmetic makes use of letters in the same way as used in the rest of mathematics’ domain.

What are some real life applications of factorization?

Factoring is often a key skill for solving problems in which you need to find a value for x. What can x equal in real life? Well, about anything. Being able to solve for x is the foundation of algebra, which itself is the foundation for doing trigonometry and calculus and higher math. Want some examples?Well, suppose you would like to own a business one day. Say you own a painting company and have several employees. You get a rush job to paint a large hotel conference room. Knowing from experience how fast your employees work, you know that Joe can do a room this size in twelve hours, Max can do the job in nine, and Jane can do the job in ten and a half. How long should it take them, then, to do the whole job if you let them work together? To figure this out you need to be able to factor. Only if you know the answer to this question will you be able to tell if they are working hard for you or taking advantage of your mathematical ignorance.Suppose you want to sell a product, such as mixed nuts. What is the ideal size of box or can for the quantity of product you want to sell? After all, cardboard and metal costs money, and storage of overly large containers wastes cash. To find the ideal size, you will need to be able to factor. Those nuts you want to mix; prices on nuts change all the time. One day the cost of peanuts may be up, or on another day walnuts may be down. How should you tweak the mix to hold the price you charge constant as the various nut prices change? To figure that out, you will need to know about factoring.Suppose you want to make computer games which play dice, or launch birds; or perhaps you want to write a program to keep data secure or do scientific research which tracks how owl populations change in relation to weather patterns. To figure all of these things out, you will need to know about factoring.Factoring is your gateway to doing big things in life. If you want be a chemist or astronomer or ecologist or physicist, or programmer or be your own boss and have a competitive edge, or do anything beyond working the 9-to-5; if you want to be a leader in your field and do big things, you will need skills in mathematics which are built upon college algebra, and for that you need to learn about factoring. That is why these skills are important. Those who have math skills earn more money. That is why you should learn about Algebra. That is why you should learn about factoring :)
