May I Know The Scopes Of Joining As A Procurement Engineer In A Mechanical Core Company

What is future scope for electrical engineering?

Most universities offer separate courses titled electrical and electronics engineering (EEE) and electronics and communication engineering(ECE). ... Electrical engineers work on large power grids, electrical systems, electric motors, hybrid electric vehicles, to name a few.Upon completion of your undergraduate studies, you have two options ahead of you - find a job or pursue higher studies in Electrical Engineering or allied fields.Jobs: Even though electrical engineering is very popular in India due to great job opportunities, growth etc, if you take a look at the placement statistics of various universities ranging from the reputed ones such as the IITs, NITs, BITS to the non reputed institutions, you will notice that core, prestigious companies such as Qualcomm, Intel etc go only to the reputed institutions for campus placements. If your college is reputed within your state, then a few locally situated core companies will come to hire students. If your college is not among the reputed one’s in India or within your state, then the only companies that will come are software. Having said that, you can always try off-campus placements for these companies by applying on your own. Many students have got in through this procedure. Electrical engineering students typically find jobs in core electrical engineering companies such as Intel, Qualcomm or in conglomerates such as Reliance industries, TATA technologies, Microsoft etc that have an electronics division. Some students also find jobs in banking, consulting and finance industries as these sectors need students with strong quantitative skills. Students who are unable to find jobs in core areas move towards software and IT industry. Some of the most popular electronic engineering companies are as follows:Core companies: Qualcomm, Intel, Ericsson, NVidia, Analog Devices Ltd, Broadcom, Cisco systems, Cosmic circuits, Ericsson India Global Services, Eaton technologies, IBM, Schneider electric, General Electric, Analog devices, Cosmic circuits Pvt Ltd, KLA Tencor, NTT Communications,Other sectors (software, internet, manufacturing, oil and gas, power etc): Shell, TATA technologies, DRDO, Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories, HCL technologies, Google, Microsoft, Power grid corporation of India Ltd, Samsung, Sony corporation, TATA Motors, Toshiba.

What is the role of mechanical engineer in construction site of any building, factory etc?

I have dealt with a great number of mechanical engineers in Construction companies during my periodic visits to site from the design office. They are excellent coordinators at site.Being neutral, they can take balanced decisions, with the welfare of the project as a whole in mind and not be prejudiced by the interests of any sub-speciality group like Steel structural engineers (handling steel superstructures in Industrial buildings) , civil engineers (handling excavation, piling, foundations, and Rcc works). They may also be involved as specialists in HVAC, piping, water supply. You will find them playing an important role in Procurement, inventory of material, and also involved in Equipment erection and in interaction with the Government regarding statutory inspections and clearances. They also monitored erection progress at site and were comfortable with packages like Prima Verra etc.Even though they may not know the answers to civil engineering problems and come up with solutions, they at least understand them and appreciate them and would support the technical team and project them favourably to the super bosses.Among the engineers, Mechanical engineers are genuine “Jacks of all trades”They can fit in anywhere and I think they made good bosses after years of experience.I once asked some civil engineering colleagues how they felt having to work under a particular mechanical engineer boss at a particular large construction site. They said “He is better to work under, than an MBA or IAS or CA boss. He at least understands technical issues!”I asked the same Mechanical engineer how he felt. He told me he was lucky to have such a great technical team to work with but unlucky to be himself working under a maalik’s representative, who was not even a graduate and could only understand “man power”,”Schedule” and “Cost overruns” “Share market” “Stock prices” and had zero knowledge of technical issues. When the Mechanical engineer in weekly meetings with this super boss wanted to discuss problems, with the “maalik’s representative, he was asked to come not wtih problems but with solutions because that is what he was being paid for.GV
