Me Find The Science Behind Personal Motivation

What's your motivation behind loving data and data science?

I just saw the HBR article and my parents encouraged me. They let me study math when I redid my bachelor, but emphasized programming. This was for practical skills and a job. I always dreamed of becoming a mathematician, so I did the core course in real analysis and abstract algebra. The remaining ones were required, and I did some to apply for statistics programs.Since my parents wanted me to do programming, I also studied computer science. My focus was on software development and databases. I was invited to enroll in the artificial intelligence course, so I did it. I soon recognized with two disciplines in math and computer science the interaction, and a suitable one was in data science.I applied to graduate school with the expected job in mind, and also connection to my dream. I chose statistics because it was both close to pure math and applied in jobs. It turned out at Stanford the department was highly connected with many disciplines. They were both liberal arts and engineering, and others I did not explore.I did okay during my first two years, but during my training I prepared for data scientist jobs and company expectations. It was always moderate risk between the likely job I was qualified for and the dream job in pure math. Now I studied enough graduate coursework in statistics, applied math, and computer science. I got an idea about professors’ expectation at an R1 research university, and the eminent department.I have acquired enough sense of the coursework and possibilities. I have instilled how people across academic research, applications, and companies talk about data science and connected disciplines. So I know at least preliminary pain points the people want to model and solve.Overall, I explored during the first two years in the master program. I just came to know myself and the program. I know my abilities among my class. I know my research interests. My exploration is near over. I do not need to explore anymore, until a new research trajectory.I have come to know and respect myself. I have already created my own psychology for any school or work afterwards. I now seek to integrate most of my life into the graduate application step.

What is motivation/the definition of motivation?

Motivation is the set of reasons that determines one to engage in a particular behavior. The term is generally used for human motivation but, theoretically, it can be used to describe the causes for animal behavior as well. This article refers to human motivation. According to various theories, motivation may be rooted in the basic need to minimize physical pain and maximize pleasure, or it may include specific needs such as eating and resting, or a desired object, hobby, goal, state of being, ideal, or it may be attributed to less-apparent reasons such as altruism, or morality, or overcoming mortality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What has motivated you to pursue a career in science?

We are naturally born curious..but it's our surroundings that make us believe that life is ordinary and all u have to do is to earn eat marry n die..but thankfully I spent my childhood reading science fictions and history..things that wondered me at a very young age was passages from books/articles like..‘Galileo was home arrested and near blinded by too much sun viewing in telescope but still he gave the keys to modern astrophysics''Copernicus was beaten up for geocentric theory'‘Newton wus a lonenly chunk working 17 hrs a day from calculus to alchemism'‘While all the kids of same age lost patience in sumthng,Einstein wudnt mind to sit hours and days together on a problem'‘How da Vinci was far ahead a genius of his time'‘Surrounded by God fearing ,ghost fearing PPL,How still Andre vesalius managed to dig up dead bodies and dissect em in midnight to learn anatomy'‘How Nicola Tesla cud figure everything in mind even b4 he created sumthn'‘How Darwin went on a trip to odd random islands and places ended up giving us evolution'‘How Marie Curie had discovered radioactivity by working in horrible conditions(old school’s waded out room without any proper facilities)and how she was immensely happy went she was given the radioactive remainings for her research by govt(these were like grabages those days)..'‘How Louis Pasteur tried rabies vaccine on a trial basis ,to find that work'list still goes on…These people by their virtue ,din even care about themselves..all they had was curiosity..and they showed us wat they're all about !! Today the lives billions of ppl are fuelled by few 1000 scientists of entire mankind…but those Ppl ,who at their times have a oppose everyone to give us everything..thank em and be curious one too :)

How do you gain self control, motivation, patience, persistence, and dedication?

Just the fact that you're asking this question is step one.

Are you willing to work hard to get what you want? If this is so, then set a goal and tell others about that goal - once u have a certain goal out in the open, it's easier to maintain that goal and be motivated since you have ppl watching u. also, who u associate with is a huge factor in ur own personal motivation and dedication. don't hang with slackers. be around ppl who will help you achieve ur goals instead of hindering u. u don't have to ditch your friends, but maybe make a few new ones.

patience and self control go hand in hand. sometimes talking to a friend can help u increase self control a lot. doing things with others is a lot easier than doing them alone, so if u want to refrain from doing something, have a friend tell u to refrain and push u to succeed and be patient. do the same thing for ur friend, and u'll both thrive together.

What are some of the best motivational channels on YouTube?

I don't believe in motivation. Motivation can help you complete a task one day but next day you'll be on your own. It's always about discipline. We as human beings despise pushing ourselves to do something which we aren't fond of doing and then we look for motivation. Motivation is an external drive that's why we always seek it from books or videos or real life examples, discipline is an inner drive . To inculcate a habit, for example bathing regularly, I'll read about personal hygiene and repercussions of not bathing for several days at a stretch . The day when I don't “feel like” bathing, I'll remind myself of the things I've read about it.I no more enjoy studying but I know I've to do it any how. So I started reading a lot of answers here on quora on tips and tricks, most of the answers aren't useful, but I do read them. Top 5 rules of studying, is the one about which I've been getting notifications off lately. I came across a YouTube channel called “civil beings".It doesn't feed you a day's dose of motivation. It helps you with basic science of spaced repetitions and maintaining a ‘diary'. I won't say that I was benefited from all the videos I watched on the channel but there were certain videos after watching them I had this opinion -I wish I knew this earlier. I've learned a lot about studying from that channel.Develop your knowledge about the task you're least interested in (for which you're seeking motivation). Take action. Refine the content, take note of the content you find usefull and don't pay much attention to the part of the content that you think isn't extraordinary.Download any habit tracking app and feed info on daily basis. It helps in maintaining a track record of your daily “to do things” which are really important but you don't “feel like" doing them.

Personal Trainer Worth The Money?

It's not generally worth it. If you're motivated enough to make lasting changes, you know enough on your own. If you don't, a trainer won't help you with the no. 1 issue - dedication. seriously, i took the test and am certified as a personal trainer. It disgusted me. You can pass and be certified in a three day course, knowing practically nothing. Learn on your own, a trainer is for rich morons. Like the ones I train. Most of them lack the motivation to go anywhere; but at any rate, I offer them the services they want. it makes me a lot of money. Plus I don't end up giving them advice that injures them over 6 months like most moronic trainers.

How is it possible to find motivation without religion?

I have a family to take care of.
I have a business to run.
I have a ton of things I want to learn about, understand, and experience.
I have a community I live in that needs my help and that in turn helps me.
And I only have one life to fit all that into, and time is short.

Those things provide plenty of "motivation," no magical god needed.

Peace.

I have no motivation to wake up in the morning..?

try going to bed earlier

or plan a yummy breakfast to look forward to

do more brain stimulating things during the day so your brain is tired instead of it always being in a numb state

i used to be the same - and as hard as it is actually getting out of bed, once you have accomplished some things in the morning it is so satisfying to think nothing would have even been done if you were still sleeping.
i hope you can figure this out - life is too short to sleep away...!

How can I learn coding at home without losing motivation?

Make a special productivity-only space in your home. Then barricade yourself in there. When I first started coding, I could only gather the motivation to code if I was in a public place, like a cafe or a library. There were too many distractions at home.I spent a lot of money on overpriced coffee, and hours each day commuting to these public places and fighting for a table close to a power outlet.Everyone I knew who was learning to code did the same thing. I would see them in cafes after work and over the weekend. Many of them even paid hundreds of dollars each month for a desk at a co-working space.Well, all that changed one day when I bumped into a guy at an event who I swear looked just like Richard Stallman.I introduced myself, and he exclaimed, “Man, it feels so good to be here! I haven’t gotten out of my house in over a month.”I raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t left your house in a month?”“Not even to get the paper off my front lawn,” he said, laughing proudly.I probed deeper, and found out that this guy was a highly productive (and highly-paid) software developer. I asked him how he had built up the discipline to get so much work done from home.He told me: “I have a separate room that I go to whenever it’s time to work. When I’m in that room, I’m in work mode. All I allow myself to do is work. No exceptions.”Now, I definitely wouldn’t ask this guy for fitness or grooming advice. But when it came to coding, I somehow got the feeling that he knew what he was talking about. So on my way home, I stopped by Ikea and picked up a $10 table. While I was waiting in line, I found a $100 used monitor on Craigslist and picked that up, too.Within a few hours, I had converted a small walk-in closet filled with coats and shoes into what my wife now calls the “Fortress of Solitude.”Now whenever I need to get some coding done, I barricade myself in this closet and get to work.I’ve done this for the past three years. Every time I step into my closet, it gets a little easier for me to focus and work productively from home.In fact, I’m sitting in here right now typing this Quora answer during a quick break from coding.I don’t know who that guy was, but if I ever run into him again, I’ll thank him for saving me from all those long commutes and overpriced coffee.I only write about programming and technology. If you follow me I won’t waste your time.
