Medical Condition . Help

I need help identifying a medical condition.?

Locke, if you care about your girlfriend you must take her to a physician

Very few medical problems can be accurately diagnosed by anonymous strangers on a Q/A website.

That is not the purpose of Y!A. We are here to share our thoughts, knowledge and experiences, not to diagnose.

Abdominal pain in particular is the worst possible thing to diagnose sight-unseen. There are dozens of problems in the differential diagnosis.

Here are a few that immediately come to mind:

gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, pancreatitis, diverticulitis, atopic pregnancy, cholecystitis, cholelithosis, nephrolithosis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, perihepatitis, atopic pregnancy, small bowl obstruction, illeus, ulcerative colitis, Chron's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal lymphoma, ovarian cysts, endometriosis.....

That just scratches the surface. There are dozens more. Any one of them can cause abdominal pain.

I'm happy to discuss any medical topic you wish, but your girlfired needs to see a physician face to face ASAP.

If she can't afford it, every county in the US has a public health clinic that accepts uninsured patients.

Weird medical condition, help me!?

A very long essay which includes non specific symptoms... I would await the results of your neurological testing as I doubt anyone on Yahoo is qualified to make a diagnosis. I imagine they will perform a lumbar puncture so prepare yourself.

What medical conditions can stem cells help solve?

What medical conditions can stem cells help solve? At the moment, none. After more research and clinical trials they could treat a wide range of conditions including organ replacement. But there's still many years of research required to make that possible. Organs are complex 3-dimensional collections of slightly different tissue. It's not just as simple as plop a blob of cells into a jar of growth medium/media. A lot of work is being done to learn how to grow different types of neurons but long-term studies must be completed to ensure they remain stable and functional for a human lifetime. You don't want neurons dying or (worse) reverting to a different tissue or undifferentiated state 3 years after implantation. You can easily imagine how that would be a serious problem.

Hey need help getting info on a medical condition?

It is Klippel-Feil Syndrome. I have given you a few links. Find the rest in google. Have fun, it looks really boring.

Also, it doesn't give you an extra bone in your arm from anything I have read. But it is a genetic anomaly on the long arm of chromosome 8. (you need to take better notes in class) You are looking for stuff to do with King Tut, right? Look up Marfan's Syndrome as well, which is what Tut's father Akhenaten had, which gives you long arms and fingers. (see last link on the list which covers Marfan's and Klippel-Fiel.)

How many medical conditions can be cured by light?

You would be surprised. Light positively affects more health conditions than most people would expect. The latest, still in experimental trials is using UV (ultraviolet) light on Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma. Not as a cure, but it does seem to relieve lesions. I know a couple of people who travel to the Middle East, to swim around in the Dead Sea a couple of times a year. The natural UV light, there below sea level, puts their psoriasis into remission between those trips. Then there are the therapeutic uses of light to help people regulate their “biological clock.” Thus, helping with sleep problems and “SAD” (seasonal affective disorder) aka winter blues due to shorter days. Another, albeit indirect benefit of measured exposure to sunlight is the resulting creation of vitamin D-3 in our skin. Vitamin D is now implicated in preventing breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. The benefits of adequate vitamin D in stemming a whole host of medical problems are too extensive to write about here.Of course, exposure to sunlight has to be limited. We don’t want excessive baking of our skin to bring about cancer. Most dermatologists now recommend about 15 minutes of direct sunlight exposure daily. In wintery climates, a vitamin D-3 supplement is a good idea. Most blood tests during routine checkups check vitamin D levels. So yeah, judicious use of light therapy does help make you healthy, wealthy and wise. Well . . . maybe only healthier.

What medical conditions do you wish you had sought help for earlier?

SIBO- Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth. For several years, over a decade now, I had periodic, but extreme diarrhea.  I thought it could be everything from random germs, food poisoning, to irritable bowl disease or cancer.  Nothing really fit right.  Not even when I figured out that I had some significant food allergies.Foods that I would eat at one point in time triggered it, at other times nothing.  Some times I thought that it was because I was drinking too much.  At other times, I knew that I drank more and nothing happened.Nothing made sense.  Figured if it was cancer it would get worse.I talked to my doctor a few times and her only answer was an endoscopy procedure.  I didn't want that, but it turns out that it wouldn't have helped, and SIBO is often diagnosed as IBD.  A lot.It wasn't until I went to a gastroenterologist that I got answers.  I had a specialized non-invasive breath test that made me quite sick.Sugar makes me sick.  Literally.  I had an overgrowth of the wrong kind of bacteria in the wrong place.  Sugar essentially caused my gut to explode.  So when I thought it was too much alcohol, I was right, but it was only some alcohol.  Margaritas.  Other things were fine.  Sugar and carbohydrates were acting like poison.I'm on my second round of antibiotics.  Expensive ones that insurance didn't cover, but I can tell the difference.  More, I know the reason.  I can change my diet and understand the risks.  I'm much more secure in my eating now.I wish I'd known many years ago.

What are some stories of marijuana helping a medical condition of a loved one or someone you know?

My 1st husband was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. At stage 4, he was already past the point where surgery OR radiation could do him any good; the ONLY recourse was a LENGTHY course of RADICAL chemotherapy. Back in the 80s, that kind of radical chemotherapy caused ungodly vomiting, and nausea so bad that no food could be held down for long, if one could even stand to eat any — he went from a very healthy 5′10″, 165 lbs, to 130 lbs in a matter of WEEKS.But bless Emory Hospital’s cancer-fighting heart; they gave him pharmaceutical THC oil, in gelcaps; first they tried having him smoke it, but he had to smoke it there, in a specially-filtered room, and the smoke was intolerable for him, as he’s never been a smoker. So they gave him the gelcaps, to take before he left home to get his chemo treatments. He said the nausea and vomiting were still pretty bad… but not quite as ungodly as before the THC therapy… and he was able to bring his weight back to 150# — still too thin, for a man of 5′10″, but healthier by far. After 10 months of enduring that horror, he was pronounced in remission. And all these years later… he’s still alive.

Can mushrooms or acid actually help medical conditions?

There are many nutritional deficiencies that can be treated by various mushrooms and acidic fruits. Pineapples are delicious, and lemons as garnish may help actually make the body more alkaline which lessens the chance for free radicals in the body (e.g.. cancer.)Mushrooms are also great for weight loss and muscle gain. It has protein, low calories, and a substantial body that takes up room in the duodenum, so you get full before you have a chance to full up on cake

What does analgesic mean? I know it's a medical condition. Help?

Analgesic means whatever you are talking about has pain relieving ability. It usually refers to a medicine of some sort, and not how strong it is or how long it will last. It just means it offers pain relief.
