Meeting someone online from a different country...need advice!?
Ok, I met someone on an online game. I've known him for a few months, but we have recently just started really talking for the past few weeks. He lives in another country, and he's moving to a different country (lol) for school. He has invited me to visit him sometime this year. I think it would be really fun to go and meet and hangout. We really like each other so it could turn into something more. What do you guys think about meeting someone you found online? Especially from another country. Would you do it? Anyone done it before? I know it sounds crazy to go to a completely differenet country to see someone you have never met before, but I would rent a hotel...if he turned out to be an *** or something I could just explore on my own! Need advice! lol
Traveling to meet someone you met online?
First off, please save the dramatic "don't do it" for someone else if possible- we live in a day and age where countless people do travel to meet. Here's the deal, I started talking to a man online a couple of months ago and he is now wanting to arrange a trip. He has had a verified background check through the site, is successful but extremely busy, and seems very normal over Skype (not to mention he sends me photos of his day to day life on a regular basis). He wants to arrange a trip, ideally a destination where we can both meet that will be tropical (i.e. Hawaii). How do I go about meeting safely? I would prefer that he did not fly to my area because I have roommates and would rather our initial meeting be discreet, and his schedule is so busy that I doubt it would be easy for him to take a couple days out just to do so. Have any of you traveled to meet someone online, and what would you suggest I do to be safe and practical aside from basic things like stay in public areas? I intend to meet him, so I would appreciate constructive advice rather than dramatic warnings.

You need to provide more info. I would suggest not going to visit someone off the internet who lives a long ways away until you have known them for quite a while. Even if they live nearby, you should talk on the phone several times and get to know their personality before going anywhere with them, and the first meeting should be at a very public place.
Is it ok for me to date someone that I met online but haven't met in real life?
I met a girl many years ago through IRC (Internet Relay Chat, it was like…Yahoo Chat before yahoo chat existed. it’s still around!). She was in Colorado Springs, CO, I lived in Toronto at the time. We chatted for hours on end, we seemed to be into the same stuff (sci fi, reading, video games, etc). We eventually took our relationship to ICQ when that launched, and eventually to voice chatting and video chatting, including cybering (chat sex), phone sex and video call sex. It was all good. We fell in (what we thought was) love. She had some sort of government job, and couldn’t relocate, so I managed to land a 6month contract with a tech company in Colorado Springs to be with her. She was everything I expected and desired. We matched up in pretty much every way, physically, sexually, humour, intellect, etc. The sex was INCREDIBLE. When you are so in tune with someone that they anticipate your movements and the sex becomes a symbiotic intertwining of two people rather than just an awkward, clumsy mechanical exercise, that’s the good sex. Then the crazy started. She’d phone me to make sure i got to work ok. Fine, new city, easy to get lost. Then she’d phone at lunch to see what i was eating. Then she’d phone before i left work. If i took too long to get home, she’d phone to see where I was. I took a day off work one week, and followed her to her office. The “government job” I thought she had? Cashier at a government building cafeteria. The sweet loft she “owned”? long term house-sitting gig. Basically all the elements of her life except me were lies. And she was rapidly becoming crazier by the day. Eventually, the crazy outweighed the awesome sex, and I bailed and went back to canada.So, pro-tip: Find out the crazy, if at all possible, BEFORE you do something huge like move to another country to be with them.ps: Never stick your dick in crazy.
