If you use Internet Explorer 8 or 9 as your browser, Yahoo Messenger 10 or 11 will not work properly without updated Flash and Java programs also installed, and possibly the .NET framework too. Install, then using your Yahoo Mail ID and password to sign in, start adding contacts (Open the Contacts tab at the top) either by their e-mail name (Yahoo, Hotmail or Windows Live) or Yahoo Instant Messenger alias. You may type in their e-mail addresses or add contacts from your Address Book. Click 'Next' then invite them to join, one at a time. Once they have accepted your invitation, the 'Add request pending' notice changes and they are active contacts for you to message. If there is a yellow dot beside their name in the downloaded version, they are available to chat. In the Mail version, the online names will be listed once you go online yourself. Click the name, and start typing your message in the box. (or open the Messenger tab and click from there.) Click Enter to send the message and wait for their reply. It's fun! Yahoo messenger decline friend request.?
That person is not notified that you have declined - all he/she will see is the 'Add request pending' notification. They will not be able to see you online nor send you messages, since they are not on your contacts list. They also cannot make the request again, since the original request is still 'pending'.

Actually all the messages you send to an unknown person, I mean the person with whom you aren't friend on Facebook, is transferred to a section called message requests.
