Do you think employment quota laws improve things or worsen them? For whom?

One thing that is often overlooked in employment quotas is that it hurts minorities the most. If a company has quotas then we know any person who is not subject to the quota is employed based on merits. This is not necessarily true for a minority who the quota purports to help since some may not have been well qualified and received the job in order to fit the quota. This is damaging to the reputation of the minority person who actual received the job on his or her merits and did not need the assistance of the quota to get their position. This is, obvious, also true in school admissions programs.

Is the Mexican Drug War getting better or worse? If it's getting worse, will Mexico end up like Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya or Somalia?

No México will not end as any of those countries because its proximity to the USA makes it very implausible. However, things here doesn't look good, for example in places such as Veracruz (one of the largest states in terms of population) the governor (now a fugitive) was suspected to be a member of the Zetas cartel, to have assasinated a large number of journalists and deviated hundreds of millions (or even billions) of USD dollars from the State budget to the PRI party to pay for fraudulent elections.Unfortunately Veracruz is not an exemption, it is common to read on the newspapers about people (especially young girls) disappearing, human trafficking is still a very serious threat as thousands of people are treated as sexual slaves (migrants are the typical targets), and I can go on but I prefer to invite you to read about this on the following newspapers that I highly recommend: http://www.sinembargo.com.mx, aristeguinoticias.com and Proceso.I can't share the optimism of many of the answers that you can find on this thread. It is true that we are not at the peak on the violence that we observed during Felipe Calderón’s administration, but most of the structural issues that allowed the organized crime to accumulate such an enormous power remain untouched. Unless we solve these issues (which are very related to our precarious electoral system) criminality will not be controlled. Right now we are observing how violence is coming back as according to many sources this year was reported as the most violent year since the start of Enrique Peña administration in 2012.

Why did you leave Mexico?

There are many reasons to leave Mexico. I’m part of the group of Mexicans looking for other opportunities outside of the country.I believe the main reason people leave the country can be summarized into 2 words: work culture.Work culture for me is very different in Europe and US, compared to the Mexican one.Pay. Pay in US tends to be about 5x higher if not more. This is not the case with all careers but it is with most of them. I work in architecture and in the US you make aprox. 60k; in Mexico for the same job you make 10k-11k. Note: The cost of living is not 6 times higher.Security. No, Mexico is not a constant drug ward as most of foreign media portrays but still it ranks high in kidnapping, murder rates. People of high-class are usual targets, but also low-class suffers of armed robbery. Some people go out of Mexico to pursue security and avoid this. Note: Some US cities have a higher criminal rate, so this isn’t always the best reason to leave.Experience. Some people leave to know new countries, cities, and cultures. Mexico has a rich and vibrant culture, but still some people want to know more cultures and understand more about how they work.Quality of Life. Mexican workers are at times require to work an extreme amount of hours per week. This means, especially in big cities like Mexico City that you’ll work, go home and sleep. That’s all your life from Monday to Friday. Doesn’t sound exciting right? Leave work at 5-6 on the U.S.? Sure. Worker benefits? Savings, health insurance, in the U.S. sure!. Mexico leave work at 6? Hahahaha! Benefits? Oh hahahaha! Yes, many employers work without benefits and decent hours. Paid overtime? Don’t even think about it.So yes, many people leave to pursue a better life quality. That’s my reason at least.

How did workers respond to worsening conditions in factories during the early 19th century?

That depended where you were and in what decade of the 19th century. Very early on French workers threw their wooden shoes into the machinery, hoping to break or retard it. Their shoes, "sabots", gave rise to the term "sabotage" because it happened so frequently.

Workers attempted to talk back to cruel and viscously demanding managers, reason with superiors, strike, hold meetings to organise, and purposely work slower. None of this really worked. Retribution was swift and extreme.

If Donald Trump spent his targeted billions improving economic conditions in Mexico instead of just putting up an impersonal wall and hoping no one else crosses over, wouldn't this actually improve world relations while genuinely achieving his goal?

If Donald Trump spent his targeted billions improving economic conditions in Mexico instead of just putting up an impersonal wall and hoping no one else crosses over, wouldn't this actually improve world relations while genuinely achieving his goal?Unfortunately, the record for investing in other countries in the hope of improving their economies has not been good. The reason our foreign aid accomplishes so little is that quite often it’s diverted to the pockets of the powerful people or organizations in the country, and never even gets to the people we want to help. But even with the cooperation of the country’s leaders and a great deal of money, implementing the kind of long term plan to improve the infrastructure, and the culture of an economically struggling country is going to be a prolonged challenge, and it will be tested by all of the dissident elements of society.Mexico, right now, is in a terribly difficult situation. They are at war with the cartels that want to wrest control of the country from Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and there is an enormous amount of unrest in the country itself. Corruption has always been endemic in Mexico; their infrastructure is badly maintained at best and missing in many places. With all this going against it, and a distrust of the United States making anything we do suspect, the possibility of accomplishing much by throwing money at Mexico doesn’t seem like a winning strategy for the United States right now.One thing that AMLO and Trump can agree on is that reducing the pressure from migrants trying to reach the U.S. would help both countries. To that end, President Trump has been trying to get the word out that the U.S. is “full” and is not accepting any more asylum applicants. He is hoping that, once the word gets out in Central America, fewer people will be willing to make the long trek north. If successful, both and AMLO and Trump can breathe a sigh of relief. But as the wall nears completion, and it becomes obvious that the U.S. will refuse to accept new arrivals, the flood will gradually become a trickle. At that point, a new, and healthier relationship with Mexico can hopefully be developed.

Can clindamycin gel make acne worse?

I have been usling clindamycin gel for about 2 weeks now and I have noticed I am getting tiny bumps all over the area where I use the gel. Is this something that will go away or that is normal while first using this medication?

From a purely economical standpoint, has trump improved or worsened the economy of the United States during his time in office?

The changes this Republican administration has imposed on the People of the USA are only now beginning to take effect, so it seems to me that to this point the US economy has been coasting on the economic momentum generated by the economic policies of the previous administration, so DT has not “improved or worsened the economy of the United States during his time in office”.However, the recent imposition of tariffs against and the gratuitous insults to our longest-term and greatest allies and their responses to those tariffs and insults will almost certainly IMO begin the process of bringing on a recession. If they do not precipitate a depression. But the nation will survive. Liberals are really quite experienced at cleaning up and correcting the economic damage done by others. They’ve been doing so quite successfully for going on 150 years now.
