Middle Upper Chest Pain When Laying Down

Woke up with (upper) back and (middle) chest pain?

It sounds like you're back is out. I am really sorry. I know it hurts. You need to put some ice on it and take some ibuprophen (advil/aleve) anti-inflammatory and when you are able to lay down, lay on the floor on your back for awhile. If your back is out between your shoulders it is extremely hard to put it back in yourself without help from a chiropractor. It will fix itself many times if you do the above but sometimes you need the intervention from chiro. Sorry. When you get the inflammation down, you may be able to stretch it back into place but that can take quite a while. I have had it take a day or two. I know, how horrible! Cross arms over chest and hug yourself and raise your head up and do a couple of squeezes like this slowly while trying to inhale then relax down flat and rest a little. Do this again and slightly twist one way than the other then lay flat again for a bit. Make sure your knees are up with feet on floor to keep pressure off lower spine. But don't do much of this while your back is inflammed, it will just aggrivate it until you use the ice and such. Hope this helps! Luck, Luck, luck to you!

I support your efforts to cease the smoking and put more money into your pockets with peace of mind and better health to you. :)

If you sleep on a pillow that raises your head up higher than your spine it tends to do what you are experiencing. Can also be a rib in your chest that is out of place causing the hard to breathe thing. I cannot rule out your smoking as a contributor but that would be a secondary issue due to your other symptoms in my mind.

Upper chest pain after laying on floor?

I was watching a movie over a friends house last night and we didn't really have enough chairs for everyone so most of us just laid on the floor on sleeping bags to watch the movie. it was an hour and a half movie and I was so engrossed with the movie i didn't really notice any pain. But then as soon as the movie was over and I had to drive home I felt it, a really sharp pain right under my collarbone.

I couldn't sleep on my side afterwards because it was too painful so I got a few hours of sleep on my back. I know it's probably just sore after laying in the odd position on the floor for too long. But is there anything I can do to help soothe the pain a bit? I've got class at 1pm today and I'd really like to not have to worry about sitting for 4 hours with that sharp jabbing pain in my chest.

Pain in back/chest when breathing in deep and lying down.?

I am having a really peculiar chest pain but I don't think it is a heart problem or anything (I am only 19 years old). Whenever I stand up or sit up I am perfectly fine. However, whenever I lie down and breath in deeply, my mid back and what I think is into my chest cavity a little bit hurts like hell (a sharp pain). I wasn't able to sleep last night until 4:30 AM because I couldn't find a sleeping position that didn't hurt like hell whenever I breathed in. However, whenever I finally turned on my right side (which I didn't do normally because I usually sleep on my left side or on my back), the pain was absent no matter how deep the breath was.

This afternoon, I experimented to see if lying down still hurt when I breathed, and it did, so it is still persisting.

I have strong acid reflux at times but this is fairly well-contained by my anti-acid medicine. I also had costochondritis when I was younger but that was a far more mild pain.

Again, when I stand or sit up, there is also no pain. What the hell is going on!? I am starting to get worried and I don't have any easy access to "my doctor" for about 2 weeks.

The middle of my chest hurts when I look down , what could be my problem?

It hurts right in the middle ( I think the Sternum)of my chest, and it only occurs when I look down, or when I am laying down and sit-up(basically a sit-up. It just started today , and ive been doing some research, and i came across Costochondritis and Tietze Syndrome . It said something about pressure on the chest wall or something. I think it couldve been the dips that I did yesterday at the gym, 15 reps 3 sets, and the day before that i worked out my chest area. I do have a (kinda) heavyset, Im 5 9 and about 195lbs..and 20 years old. Can someone help me figure out what is wrong and possibly save a trip to the hospital, and also any treatments that might help. THANKS!

How can a lying down cause pain in the middle of your back?

I suspect that the pain in the middle of your back may be caused by posture issues when you aren’t lying down - but you can start to fix these issues while you’re lying down. I do this for 10–15 mins before bed every night: http://gokhalemethod.com/video/s...

Extremely bad chest pains when I lie down?

I'm an 18 year old male, and for the past two or three days I've been having very bad chest pains in my upper chest, right in the middle. It started when I woke up choking one night, and it hurt so bad I was crying profusely, I went to the emergency room, but they never told me what it could be, they just ran the standard tests and asked me the usual, "Do you or anyone in the home smoke", etc. It gets better if I sit up, but if I lay down it starts to hurt extremely bad. Does anyone have any insight as to what it could be? The doctor said I'm at extremely low risk for a heart attack, or heart disease.
