What are some physical differences between the F-16 and F-18? How can you easily tell them apart visually?
You must be pulling my leg!…..I am sorry for the person who ask such a basic question. However if you are able to ask a question on Quora, i believe you can find the details between these famous military combat fighters on the internet but i can't speculate and this could honestly be a genuine question.The physical difference is huge. There are some people who really can't interpret the differences and i saw that in some military, especially the army. The F-16 is a single engine, multirole fighter with unique intake design and a fabulous cockpit with stunning view of the outside world. It is considered one of the most agile fighters in the worldSome people call it the F-18, but the proper name as the aircraft deserves is F/A-18….F/A stands for “Fighter & Attack”. It would be a total disrespect for this jet if you call it F-18. The F/A-18 Hornet (A-D model) and the F/A-18 Super Hornet (E and F model) is a carrier borne, multirole, twin engine fighter. It is considered one of the best “Naval” fighter in the world and many countries uses them for land based operations which includes the top notch and professional US Marines Corp.The main difference is this from a “Visual” prospectiveThe F/A-18 has a twin tail. The F-16 has one. If you put the 2 jets together you can see the stark design difference.There you go. You can obviously see the main difference between the 2 designs. On the left is the F/A-18 and on the right is the F-16. Both are considered to be one of the best western fighters in the world and in my opinion, they are still the best. I can sincerely give my golf clap to the original designers of these jets, and the wonderful people who built them. You guys did a tremendous job for us aviation enthusiast.The F/A-18E Super Hornet. You can see it was design for carrier and naval operations. It could carry a huge payload as can be seen here. Plus to save some space, it has wings folded and this is so when space is premium on an aircraft carrier.As above, you can see the plan view of the fighter jets. The F-16 size and plan view plus those of the F/A-18A-D and the much larger F/A-18E-F Super Hornet and add to the best of the best, the F-15 Eagle.
Is there any Russian fighter jet that can beat USA's F35 Lightning II?
With the necessary support from AWACS, the Su 35 can eat up and digest the F 35 fully! And anyway if the Su 35 moves fast and gets close to F 35 there is no way the F 35 will end up alive. Obviously, the Su 35 is not going to do it alone. Contrary to bold claims that F 35 can sneak up close without getting undetected, and the only wars it can fly would be in the beyond visual range, most of the air combat will still take place in the within visual ranges. There is simply little real world combat experience and evidence to prove this claim and all real wars so far have been mostly in the Within Visual Ranges. I would daresay the F 16 and F 15 of the US in larger numbers would be bigger challengers to the Su 35 than the hyped F 35. Kills in computer simulations are a virtual reality ! Just because you can see something in advance and direct your missiles towards it, does not mean a kill is guaranteed. First, what you see may be an illusion created by decoys or jammers, second your BVR missiles can be jammed. And if you have switched off your radar, your passive sensors will need you to get close enough to yourself get detected by virtue of your infrared signature. Any stealth aircraft is a waste of time for nuclear powers like US and Russia. The Russians knew US all aspect stealth was coming and there were articles of how to “deal” with them since 2005–2006. And by articles, I mean non propaganda articles.It would be absolutely impossible for any aircraft including the F 22 to1. penetrate Russian Airspace without being detected at all,2. fire Air to Air missiles that cannot be jammed, and3. never get intercepted at all by Russian jets, or even before that4. survive the batteries of S 400 or S 500 (in near future) Surface to Air missiles.Not to mention the ground based and Air Borne Electronic Warfare Systems. The F 35 is not going to survive period ! The efforts of US to develop aircraft with such abilities are admirable, but unfortunately, the Russians are not fools to not keep mitigants. In fact necessity is the mother of inventions.A lot is being mentioned about the Khibiny Jammer. The Khibiny jammer is nothing but a DRFM jammer of the same class as Israel's Elta EL 8222. While claims such as Khibiny downed the Aegis should be cautiously dealt with, it is a fact that Khibiny is a very effective jammer and a force multiplier on aircraft such as Su 34 or Su 35.
