Military With Asthma Help

Can you get into the military with asthma?

I dont know if this will help but I want to clarify that i do not have asthma like you usually see in the movies. I dont need to carry an inhaler, and I dont go into a violent weasing fits when I get nervous or run or anything. I've never had an asthma attack, my doctor just said that i have a form of mild asthma called hyper-active airway disorder. I pretty much just get winded quicker than most people and breath heavier during physical activity. I just wasnt sure whether I could get accepted though cuz it is classified as asthma, however mild it may be.

Can I get kicked out the military for my asthma?

Last night after working out for 15 minutes I started wheezing and I could hardly breath. My mother took me to the emergency room. If started to slowly die down. The doctors checked me and diagnosed me with exercise induced asthma. I have to carry an inhaler now and stuff for when I exercise.

Will the military except you if u have asthma?

No

Will the military ever change their stance on asthma? Please help?

I know that as of now any asthma diagnosis or treatment whatsoever is disqualifying after 13, but that seems unfair. I was misdiagnosed with exercise asthma when my doctor gave me an inhaler because i was experiencing symptoms. However, i went to a specialist and he ran all the PFT tests and told me i didnt have asthma, and my symptoms were from being out of shape. Because of this, i will never get to serve my country, and live my dream to be a marine. Is there any way that the standards will allow you to enlist as long as you pass a breathing test? (which i did)

Are there any people in any branch of the military with asthma and or food allergies?

Question: Are there any people in any branch of the military with asthma and or food allergies?Of course there are. While they are unlikely to have passed through the MEPS station physical if they knew about their allergy or the severity of their asthma, some people do get through medical screening and make it into basic training, technical schools and even active duty with undiagnosed or poorly diagnosed illnesses. Some don’t discover them until they are in combat situation or even until they re deployed overseas. If or when you are discovered to have food allergies or asthma there will be a medical determination made to see if your illness can be treated in manners compatible with military service. If they cannot, you’ll be given a medical discharge unless you are close enough to the end of an enlistment to leave voluntarily. The medical discharge is not voluntary, and though you may be able to appeal it, you are unlikely to prevail unless your illness’ severity somehow lessens. The needs of the military come first and they are not going to make too many accommodations for people who physical conditions make serving difficult or medically dangerous for them.

Can I become an Army Helo pilot with Asthma?

I was diagnosed with asthma that is triggered by severe allergies back at age 5. I have NEVER had an Asthma attack. The only thing that has happened to me at the worst would be congestion with coughing from mucus build up (which was from a cold.) I have been prescribed Albuterol to help if coughing ever got bad, BUT I have been prescribed only Zyrtec to control allergies... Based on this, does this completely destroy my aspirations to be an Army Helo pilot?

What Happens if You Get Asthma During Your Military Career?

There is such thing as adult asthma. If you get diagnosed with it they could just give you an inhaler and try and treat your symptoms and help you out or they could decide to discharge you.
There's no such thing as a "medical discharge." There's honorable, general other than honorable, general, bad conduct, and dishonorable. If you get discharged medically, you will either get honorable and general other than honorable. (Random fact, with both of those types of discharge you get to keep your uniforms.) Honorable you will be good looking for a job no matter what. General other than honorable, I'm not sure if it's true, but I heard that when you apply for a job they'll have to do a background check every time, which if you haven't done anything wrong then you're good to go any way so I still think that's nothing to worry about.

By the way, someone else said they will look into your previous medical records if you all of a sudden get asthma; that's not true. They can't do that. They cannot go into your medical record prior service unless you give them access. I had asthma when I was younger and never told them because it probably would have DQ'd me. They don't know about it because they can't look into my records.

Good luck. I hope this helps. I probably just rambled on. >.<
