Buying and returning an opened item as a minor (law question)?
So as the law states a minor can rescind any contract. So according to law I could return an item even if it doesn't follow a return policy. My law teacher explained that some girls could buy a prom dress use it and then return it. I was wondering if I got say a bag of chips that isn't a necessity and ate half of it then returned it I actually could do that? Remember minors can rescind any contract. Unless there is a state law or statute restricting this (Kansas). Could I actually do this? Please only say no If you actually know a statute or law.

You didn't sign a contract, from what you've written. You simply bought the item, and the store is allowed to impose conditions such as "no refunds or returns" even on minors. If the minor doesn't like it, then the minor can shop elsewhere. A condition of sale is not a contract. If you DID sign a contract, then you can disavow the contract. However, you would have to return the treadmill in the same condition in which you bought it, or you'd have to pay the difference between the current and sale condition. If you rented it, then you'd be liable for the amount of rent that you'd used...for example, if you rented something for a term of a year, but decided to disavow the contract after three months, you'd still have to pay three months' rent. Minors don't get to play with merchandise and then decide to return it when they get tired of it. If you and your mom were planning on somehow getting the use of the treadmill without paying for it, then this is called fraud. Oh, and your mom is probably going to be held liable, too, because she was in on this scheme with you.
Can a minor buy a corn snake at petco or any other place?
As far as i know you can buy them as a minor. Now i see everyone telling you not to go behind your mothers back, i wouldn't suggest it either. But if your mom anything like mine it might just be easy to buy the pet and bring it home, i have done it before and she always lets me keep whatever it is. Now when i ask her she tell me NO. Can a pawn shop buy an item from a minor?
I know a minor cannot enter into a contract, so therefor they cannot pawn items. But is a pawn shop allowed to buy from a minor? A friend of mine has a son who is 13. He went to the local pawn shop and sold his 3ds and game that he got for Christmas. She is very upset--she paid over $200 for this stuff and her son did not have her consent to sell it. I feel as if the pawn shop shouldn't have been allowed to buy from him in the first place. Are there any laws? I can't seem to find anything.
