Missing To Many Days Of School

Can you get held back from school for missing too many days?

It depends on your school policy, since they're usually different. For example, back when I was in middle school, the only requirements to move on were to pass the state exams and a 70+ average in core classes.

In high school for me, you were only allowed to be absent for 10% of the total school days, any more than that, and you would get held back or have to make it up through summer school.

Now, in college, you don't have to show up at all, just pass the tests. :P

Can I get held back a year for missing too many days of school? I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and I've been missing school due to feeling sick and a recent injury I've had. My absences are excused, and I'm a B-student.

Yes and no. I know I am sitting on the fence but there is a reason. It depends on exactly how many days off you had. One student I taught collapsed during the welcome to the school assembly. Rushed to hospital and diagnosed with leukaemia.A few months later return to school all better. After the second lesson collapsed again. The cancer had returned. Result in that year been to not two classes so despite medical certificates had to repeat as he had not done the work.second case a student in his second final year complains of severe headaches. Diagnosed with meningitis. Hospitalised to late in his final year. First day back does his end of year exams. (In NSW you do a trial test at the school and a month later an external exam called the HSC. Your mark is based on your best five subjects, or equivalent, yes I have simplified it)His mark out of 500 was 467. All his subjects were hard ones and good enough to do any course in any University/ college he wanted to. He did not repeat as he clearly and demonstrably knew the work. The rules vary a bit on number of days allowed but the exception for if you studied while sick apply in some but not all cases. Thus it is best to check at the school if you can or your local education authority if you can’t

How many days can you miss school before you get held back?

I missed about 30 days, I've never been held back before and I always miss quite a lot of days each year. Last year I think I missed about 23 and didn't have to go to summer school or anything. Do you think 8 days will make a difference? However there was this one time in the 3rd grade I had to go to summer school because I missed to many days, but I had my tonsils taken out so I had to miss like a month plus all the other days I had missed before that. But I also remember in like the 4th grade I missed 40 something and didn't have to go to summer school then. Are the rules much different for elementary than middle school?

Can I be arrested for missing to many days of school at 18?

I am 18 years old and I stay in my own home. I went to visit my mom earlier today cause it has been almost 2 weeks since I have seen her. When I made it over there I knocked on the door and as my mom opened the door to let me in the cops walked up behind me and asked me for my Drivers License.
When I asked him is there a problem he says yes, You have missed 54 days of school when the Maximum allowed is 8 days. I explained to him that I am 18 years old, I have a Full time Job, and considering going register to get my GED Friday when registration starts. He tells me, That's none of his concern. Now I have to go to Court next Monday for missing too many days of school. What should I expect? At 18 years old don't I have the right to stop going to high school to get my GED if I wish? It will take me 6 months to get my GED but it will take me 1 more School year to Graduate High School. I'm planning on going to get my GED in 6 months than continue on to College for Computer Science. What should I expect? I will not skip court cause I have never in my life ever been in trouble with the law before. I was just going to visit my mom and was harassed by the cops which don't care about anything.
