More Than 1 Year Old Piercing Does Not Heal

Nose piercing will not heal after a year?

Sometimes piercings like to act up. I'm about 90% sure the bump you are speaking of is hypotrophic scarring. It is usually caused when theres tension around the area or when trauma has been caused to the area. Some people are more prone to it then others.

I would suggest making sure that you are cleaning it properly.

The APP (Association of Professional Piercers) reccomends that you clean piercings with:

Non-iodized sea salt. (Which you can get in the market!)

How to:

Dissolve 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized (iodine free) sea salt into one cup (8 oz) of warm distilled or bottled water.

I typically just take some gauze/cotton ball and apply it to the piercing.

H2ocean is another great product.

If you start to think you are developing an infection. DO NOT TAKE THE JEWELRY OUT. Until you go speak with your piercer. That is a well known rule in the piercing community. An infection can get trapped in there if you take it out.

My advice, make sure your measuring your sea salt right. Make sure you are cleaning frequently..and go talk to your piercer.

A metal allergy is a possibility aswell. If you suspect an allergy once again go talk to your piercer. Hopefully they are reputable enough to give you an honest opinion.

How long does it take for your nose piercing to heal?

It depends by what you mean "close up" and how long you've had the piercing. If a piercing is fairly new, once the jewelry is removed the pressure on the walls of your piercing from your jewelry is gone, so the piercing wil start to squeeze closed. This could make it difficult to reinsert jewelry into the piercing within minutes. If there is an issue with reinserting the jewelry on your own, a reputable body piercer should be able to get it in for you without too much issue if you get to them within a day or two from the time the jewelry was removed. If you wait longer than a few days to visit a piercer to have the jewelry reinserted, then your piercing may have already started healing closed. This is because a new piercing that is less than 6 months old (or even up to a year) is still healing, so when the tissue squeezes down and the sides start touching each other, they will start connecting and healing closed. If a piercing has been there for a while, like a year or so, then you may be able to remove it for brief periods of time. How long really depends on your specific piercing and body.An important thing to note is that removing and reinserting jewelry into a piercing, even if it is healed, can lead to irritation and issues with your piercing. Now, if you were talking about removing your piercing because you don't want it and you want it to heal closed. Then no one can really predict, because different people with different diets and in different climates will heal differently. Just remove it and keep cleaning the inside and outside for a bit to make sure you're removing anything that may accumulate by the piercing and it should eventually close up.

One year old eyebrow piercing still not healed?

I got my eyebrow piercing over a year ago unprofessionally...with an eargun..
I don't remember a time when it looked healed. It's always forming red bumps around the holes and sometimes puss when i try to put the piercing back in. I kept cleaning it with sea salt water the first month, but then started cleaning it with alcohol. I started putting fucidin on it almost daily for the past 6 months, not so regularly though. It would heal a little for a day (but not completely)..but it still continues to feels a bit sore and sometimes puss. I don't think its infected.. it'd definitely be a lot worse if it was.. especially after more than a year.
I heard that crushing up a baby aspirin(would normal aspirin work?),mixing it with a little water to make a paste then applying that to my eyebrow twice daily will kill the dead and infected stuff. So supposidely i'd be starting from brand new.
What is wrong with my piercing! I really really don't want to take it off..
Should I try the aspirin method?
I'm sure a doctor would tell me to take it off and let it heal....

Why hasn't my year-old ear piercing healed?

Ear lobes generally heal quickly, so a couple of things come to mind when reading your experience. Your body may become sensitive to the metal and tries to reject it. One side of your body may be more sensitive than the other.  This happens to me.  Certain medications can make your body react as well.Keeping your bedding clean helps, as well as having clean hands when touching the earrings. Tying your hair back off the piercings and avoiding getting hair styling products on them should keep irritants away.If you can talk to a reputable piercer (or your doctor), see what they say about it.  Last resort is simply to remove the jewelry and allow the holes to heal.  Nothing wrong with only having one sided piercings. Best of luck.

How long does it take for an ear piercing to close?

Ear piercing is the most common practice among the women of today and this habits being traced back to thousands of years from now. Initially, the ear piercing was adopted by men due to social status signs and was later adopted by women as well.imagePresently, this is the most common habit in women. Professionals recommend that wearing the earring should be followed by the piercing of ears, this will make the piercing heals without closing the hole of the ear. In this way, the ear piercings will take more time to close, but you have to make it sure to wear earrings occasionally, a week within a month, to avoid the closure of ear piercings. If the piercings are fresh, it will take just a few days to close and the older the piercings are, it will take more time to heal. However, one can not estimate the exact time for the closure of ear piercings, if one does not wear earrings. One fact is that as well, if you wear ear piercings for three to four years continuously, after piercing your ears, they will remain open for a lifelong time and will never close.Related:What your eyes tell about your health?Six major types of body fat and how to lose it?Seven natural remedies for a 18 years look. This is the most effective home remedy for Memory loss. This is the Method of removing Facial Hair at Home.Attribution for content

Why is my cartilage piercing not healing?

Cartilage that is damaged by tears or punctures usually doesn’t heal. It is a notoriously poorly healing tissue due to density and tenuous blood supply. Stem cell injections have therefore been used with limited success for meniscal tears in knees. As far as a piercing through cartilage goes, it is unlikely to “heal” in the sense of repairing itself.

Why won't my eyebrow piercing heal?

Sometimes your body just never really "warms up" to a piercing. Especially if it's in a place like your eyebrow. The sole purpose of eyebrows is to collect dirt and stop it from falling in your eyes, so it's easy for an eyebrow piercing to get irritated. The skin around your eyebrow might be particularly sensitive, which is true for some people and not for others.
It's hard to say whether or not it will finally heal. I had the same problem a couple years ago with my eyebrow piercing and ended up needing to take it out, and I've since had it redone and the piercing still sometimes gets bumps and pusses. All you can really do is clean it with salt water soaks (1/4 teaspoon of SEA salt dissolved into a shotglass of warm water, soak it for ~4 minutes at least once a day) and hope that it starts to look better. If it doesn't, it might be in your best interest to take it out, simply for it's appearance, not because of negative health benefits.

Long story short: It may get better, it may not. All you can do is salt water soaks or take it out, but give it some time to heal first. Don't let people scare you into thinking it's keloid scarring, or an infection that will cause you to go blind. It's simply a little irritation or infection that won't go away. If it gets progressively worse or you get worried about it, go talk to a professional piercer or your doctor.

My ear piercing still hasn't healed and its been more than 4 months?

Healing can take time, usually for lobes it's 3 months. But if you went to a place like Claire's where they used that stupid dirty gun to rip a hole through your ear using blunt force trauma and a dull piercing stud, that could be part of the problem. DO NOT remove the piercing, if it is infected (sounds like it's a possibility) that will only make the problem worse by trapping the infection inside your body. Do warm sea salt soaks 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes each (1/4 sea salt to 8oz water, DO NOT use table salt). This should help soothe it, but it's also possible that you are having a problem with cheap metal studs. I'd go find a REAL professional at a piercing shop and get some advice, if it is a metal allergy, get some good quality earrings and that should also help to clear it up.

Can a nose piercing close? if so about how long does it take?

My nephews nose ring has been out for 5 almost 6 years. Still got the piercing! Ears don't heal after a length of time. I don't think the nose will. either? The eyebrows leave a nice scare. His ring had been in for about 3 years. If you take it out right away you might not get a scare. If it is a nostril pierce. Experiment with a non-pierced earring. Like a little hoop. Or put a jewelry dot on nose with white glue for an idea. (the glue won't wreck your skin, but it won't keep the jewel in place for long either. Just gives you an idea before you get pierced.

Nipple piercing won't heal...?

I took my 5 year old nipple piercing out more than a year ago. while piereced I NEVER had a single problem with this.

Since I took it out it has not healed. I know I will always have two little baby holes in my nipple, but when I squeeze it, a tiny bit of white pus will come out. I have tried cleaning regulary and what not but nothing seems to work?!

It is never red or sore, but is the white pus is a sign of infection? It never seems to be better or worse.
I tryed about 4 months ago to put a smaller bar in, hoping to clean out the inside, needless to say I couldn't get it though, I guessing because I left it without one for so long.

Does anyone have any ideas, surely it shouldn't take over a year to heal?
