We are very close shes one of the ppl I tell everything. It means a lot to me because shes been in and out of my lifr, she left the country for about a year and them returned but moved to her home state texas and I lived with my dad in california but now that I graduated high school I moved with her to texas. Even though we've had distance my love for her hasn't change. I didn't feel like she abandoned me or anything. I still look up to her.

Well, I don't get along with my mom 100%. We're really different and fight alot so just keep our distance from each other. However, I have someone in my life that I met, that's become a mother figure to me. We've been very very "like mother like daughter" close for a long time. It's like we're the same person but different ages. Recently, she moved 3 hours away, and in a few months I'm going to be 18 and we wanted to get tattoos together. Any ideas?

Regarding smoking certainly you can discourage it but complaining about it is only likely to alienate. While no amount of smoking is safe, a rate of three packs a year amounts to about 1/4 of a cigarette a day and is hardly worth disrupting a relationship over. Tattoos and other forms of body art have become decidedly mainstream in almost all walks of life and many highly educated individuals are heavily inked. No longer are tattoos a symbol of counter-culture or subcuture.In general. as a parent I cannot advise a mother to complaiin about the choices their adult children make in any capacity lest they want to alienate said children. Unless your own money is being spent on said body art or smoking a 19 year old is beyond the age at which you should be directing general choices a child makes.
