How long does a mouse pad usually last?

It can last a long time, if my grandson would quit picking at it!! I told him he has to buy me a new one!
You know at Walmart photo section you can get your name or picture on a mouse pad..I think I will have him to that for me on my B-day..=)

Gaming mouse pad?

Colanth is partially right about the point regarding optical mice. A mouse pad will be needed if your desktop has a reflective surface, as it will scatter the light from the mouse. Laser mice do not have these problems as they will track on any surface without an issue, but the are pricier, expect to pay around $80 and up for a good laser mouse.

Do I even really need a "mouse pad" anymore?

We really don't need screen savers anymore with newer monitors, auto monitor shut offs, etc. So they're more of a novelty.
Mouse pads were useful with the old track ball (mouses mice?)
So do I really need a new mouse pad with an optical mouse?
This one's ready for the trash...

Makeshift mouse pad help?

I have a wired optical mouse and it frequently:
Twitches to side of screen on its own
Becomes unresponsive for several seconds or until you shake it up
Moves on it's own very slowly and consistently when not even being used(rarely)
^^^^^ does all that mostly when having high rates and frequency of movement( like in a game...in if it twitches to the side of the screen while playing a fps the screen spins out crazily)

So i isolated my problem as the texture of the wooden desk that is causing this. I don't have any mouse pads, any house hold item i can use to substitute for one?And don't say paper, it don't work

Laptop mousepad makes my finger numb?

This problem occurrs when there is poor grounding. This means, check your power cable and makesure it has the ground prong as well as the two teeth prongs.

Another reason could be if you are touching any other electronic device such as a lamp, tv, radio antenna or even a wristwatch.

I bet you can draw your finger on the table and not have this problem... Either way, the problem is grounding and most likely, it's related to the laptop. Usually the ribbon cable come out of it's plug and can generate these symptoms. Besure to have a PC Shop look at it. It's a matter of a few screws and after removing the keyboard, the plug and ribbon cable will be accessible.

Why is my mouse pad not working? How can I fix it?

It really depends.  Do you have  a wired mouse pad which tracks mouse movement or just a normal pad?Pad:Your pad could be very worn down and less reflective to light. The engravings could be word down, and seem less complex for the mouse sensor, making tracking less accurate.Wired Pad:The USB 2.0 or 3.0 connection could be damaged, therefore not being able to freely connect with your computer. The technology inside of the mouse pad could also be damaged. The software for your computer, such as Razer Synapse 2.0, could be corrupted, or even not present.I hope this helps.

My mouse feels like it's dragging on my mouse pad. How do I fix this issue?

Mouse pads get exposed to all sorts of dust and dirt. Along with sweat from your hands and wrist. Not to mention whatever you’re eating while working/playing.It’s jobs like these where I’m glad I bring surgical gloves in my kit bag to protect myself from “whatever” it was.Only through thorough periodic cleaning with prep pads with a low concentration of isopropyl alcohol (and of course not eating at the desk) and washing your hands regularly will keep the dirt under control. The top most picture shows the most common dirt the pads collects from the mouse pad surface. Simple general cleaning will make your mouse glide effortlessly. And mouse pads are relatively inexpensive and it’s easier to just periodically replace them instead of attempting to clean them.Happy mousing!Amazon.com: Sterile Alcohol Prep Pads

Why does my mouse feel like it's sticking to my mouse pad although both are clean?

I don’t exactly -know- the answer, but I think it might be razer’s coating for the bottom side of the mouse. Because I am also using a Razer product, the Abyssus 2014, and it’s got problems like this one you mentioned.I haven’t been able to fix the problem since I noticed it, a workaround would be moving it while slightly hovering/grabbing it off the mousepad since the laser also tracks until a several centimeters above ”ground”Edit : I think it’s because Razer wanted to keep the mouse from slipping off. I know it’s not the physics of the static drag working, because I’ve seen/tried heavier mouses like the logitech G502 being easily swaying through a wooden deskHope this helps.
