Movies U Were Scared Of When U Were Younger

Did the Undertaker used to scare you when you were younger ?

OH YES! considering i grew up watching Taker since like the age of 4/5! when you're that age you still believe in everything!

I really used to think UT was invincible, the way he would not react to a 'punch' or a slap etc.

And he had those eyes aswell, those big scary eyes!

Ahh....those were the days...........

What was the first scary movie you saw but were still too young to watch it?

Two movies (literally) gave me at the very least mild PTSD. First was The Exorcist, which I saw at 10, but probably should have waited another 2 years. There isn't enough time in a day for me to list the “why” on that one, but let's just say, I didn't sleep with any windows opened for a few years. But if you've seen it, and imagine a 10 year old watching a girl masturbating with a crucifix in a deep, grovely voice, sitting in his shadowy, creepy basement, you can put 2 and 2 together. The one that REALLY traumatized the HELL out of me, was Pet Sematary. I was maybe 7. My mom was watching it on our living room TV. I was in the room too, playing with toys and looking up once every 5 minutes. And then Zelda showed up. It was like a car accident. I didnt like what I was seeing but couldn't look away. I watched the entire thing, crying and scared like a baby, my mom repeatedly reminding me “hon, it's just a movie”. For the next probably year or more, I had her check my bedroom at night, every night, for Zelda. Not until maybe 20 years old did I find out she was played by a man, and that gave me SOME relief. At least I now know that no woman actually looks like that. But yes, Pet Sematary I should have taken a rain check on. For another 10 years or so.

Scary movies?

Rent the original Evil Dead or The Others.

What happens if a very young child likes to watch scary movies? My three-year-old daughter really likes "scary movies" ex:the new Goosebumps movie.

You are the parent. You decide what your child gets to watch. At some point you must have allowed her to see a scary movie clip, or left her with someone who exposed her to a scary movie. Three year olds do not know that they ‘like’ scary movies unless someone has allowed them to see one.Three year olds want to be like their family. They want to be with their family, and if their family are watching a scary movie they will want to be there too. She doesn’t like scary movies especially; she just doesn’t want you to send her to another room. What will happen? That depends on your daughter’s temperament and understanding. She may begin to have nightmares about things she has seen on TV. She may confuse reality and fantasy, and develop beliefs in the supernatural. She may become too afraid to sleep in her own bedroom. She may become so accustomed to horror that she doesn’t recognise when other people are in distress. She may act out horror scenes in play, and frighten or hurt her friends. Other children may view her as ‘odd’ or scary and be unwilling to play with her. She may begin to regard herself as an ‘outsider’ because she has interests that are not shared with other children.Wider consequences may affect the whole family. She may discuss horror movies with people outside the family. If she tells her teachers, they will become aware that she has seen material that was not designed for children. If she tells the parents of her friends, they may not wish to allow playdates at your house. Some parents genuinely do feel that it is fun to have a child who appears precocious, having tastes that are more ‘adult’ than other children. However, your child is not merely an accessory. She is a developing person. It really is unfair to expose her to material that could set her, and your immediate family, apart from other children.Take control. Choose age appropriate films for your daughter to watch. Allow her to become a typical child, with typical tastes and interests.

What movie did you watch as a kid that you were too young to watch and are now scarred from?

There are a few that I cannot watch as I saw them way too young when my older sister and her friends were in a horror movie phase that I clearly should not have been there for. The Exorcist, The Grudge, and The Blair Witch Project come to mind. However the oddest ones that I can watch, have watched multiple times, but still have moments that scare the hell out of me are The Mummy and Signs. I watched them when I was 7 and 10. (Not sure how but me and my friends were able to get in to the cinema with our older sisters as Signs had a 12 rating).Anyway, Signs is an interesting movie. The moment when the alien walks past got me, as did the leg in the crop fields at night scene, especially as I used to play around in the farmers’ crop fields nearby. I guess this added to the mental scarring. The Mummy, which I think is an incredibly fun movie, with Brendan Fraser at his absolute best, still scared me. The beginning, the moment Imhotep comes back to life, and the killer bugs were just some of the things that got me. I was seven, after all.I still enjoy both movies and don’t see either as being scary and have had both on DVD for at least 12 years. But in those particular scenes it feels like I stop watching it now, and start watching it through a memory, which tells me I was once scared of this. So the same feelings I had come back. In a way though I enjoy the movies even more through this weird scarring.

What movie is too scary for you to sit through?

I have yet to see a movie that’s too scary for me to sit through. I enjoy horror films immensely and I know they’re not real. It’s pure escape and fun for me.There are some movies that make me think about them weeks later, and those are the good ones, because they push my creative buttons.

What movie scene legitimately terrified you when you were younger, but is no big deal now?

When I was ten my family had been out late and on the way home when my parents turned to me in the back seat and asked if I wanted to go to the movies. It was like 10pm and a school night to boot! That sort of thing never happened and, frankly, I thought they’d lost their minds. Obviously, I was thrilled with the spontaneous decision and gave a resounding ‘yes!’. They warned me that it was a “very scary movie” at which point my excitement more than doubled. My favorite magazines were “Fangora” and “Monster”, both of which focused on horror movies and the like. I had yet to see an R-rated movie but was still pretty advanced concerning what I was allowed to see and, for all intents and purposes, considered myself mature enough to handle just about anything. At this point I guess I should say that maybe I should’ve prefaced the story by telling you that this particular night stands out in my memory as the very last time in my life that I ran screaming from my bedroom and spent the remainder of the evening squeezed between my mom and dad in their bed. The movie: “Poltergeist”. I woke up shortly after falling asleep with a gaping hole over my bed trying to suck me into the spirit world.

Is the movie JAWS really scary?

Well, it has its scary moments.

Jaws is an example of a movie that has aged well in terms of being a classic, but its special effects are out-dated. Compared to the special effects you see in movies today, the shark in Jaws looks quite fake. But some would say that adds to the scariness simply because it looks so unreal.

Besides, any movie these days can be loaded with realistic-looking special effects, but special effects are worthless without a good storyline. Jaws is still such a good movie because the story is what makes it worth watching, not just the creeps and the thrills.

Overall, in this day and age, it is not quite as scary as it used to be. But however fake the shark may look, you probably won't find a person who would go swimming in the ocean/sea right after watching that movie and not even have the slightest uneasiness.

And by the way, I might just point out that when Jaws was made, movie trailers didn't go overboard with action shots. In those days, trailers gave you a little sneak peak, but kept all the best parts for the movie itself. (I mean come on, you never even see the shark in the trailer, something like that would NEVER happen in a modern trailer...)

Movies: Stuck and Scary Movie?

No. The girl in Scary Movie is Anna Faris, and the girl in Stuck is Mena Suvari. But they do look pretty similar.
