Moving To Japan This Summer 31 Posts To Help You Prepare

What does "origin post is preparing shipment" mean from USPS?

It means way too much to be lumped into that one little group of words. When your package is sorted at another country’s postal service, all packages destined for the same destination are loaded onto a pallet headed for the airline (a pallet usually has to be full before moving along in the process, so there’s one wait) and sent to the same country or region of a country. So packages headed for DE, PA, MD, NJ, etc. (northeast region) are sent to New York’s Kennedy Airport. All of this gets one status, which is the one you’re asking about. Now begins a new wait. At some point, USPS will eventually update your status to something equally misleading like “processed through facility” or “inbound into ISC…” Because the truth is, if 2–3 days have passed with this new status, it means the CBP still has your package. The CBP (Customs & Border Patrol) LOVES to hang on to packages for no good reason. Still, because ISC is part of the USPS, they’re made to answer for a package that the CPB hasn’t released to them and they’re given no reason why. The CBP doesn’t answer to anyone. So bottom line answer: It’s stuck on this status during the whole time your package is being scanned out of the warehouse, loaded into pallets, loaded into the airport, screened at the airport, sent to the destination country, and arrives at the destination country. The other possible reasons it’s stuck on that status:1 Too many shipments to a destination can take your package out of that flight. Because flights are booked far in advance, your package might actually have to wait for a new flight days later.2 If there’s a problem with the scheduled aircraft, such as a weather delay) same as above.3 If any of the packages lumped into your palette aren’t properly closed, they might take the whole palette out. Same issue if there are other suspicious packages in your group. They will take the whole palette out and miss the flight.4 On occasion, the USPS forgets to even do the arrival scan, so it’s possible it’s already here. In this case, neither the USPS or shipping post office will give you an answer if you call. Most of the time it eventually arrives. Of course, it means you’re late on that birthday gift or you’re in fetal position because of your drug withdrawal. Doesn’t look like anyone’s doing anything to make this absurd process more efficient.

My mail has already come today but since this is Priority Mail Express International™ will it just deliver at a later time? I really don't want to wait until Monday to receive my package. This is my first time with this type of shipping.

Will it deliver on Sunday? I've seen some people say it delivered to them on that day.

Thanks.
