I ordered a t-shirt from HMV not long back and got an email back saying they couldn't authorize the payment, I assumed that it was just the site so I didn't think much of it. After that I bought Minecraft and it went through fine, I also bought some shoes from a shop in the city using the card and it worked so I guessed that it was okay. I ordered a few books from Amazon just now and I haven't got any emails about the others yet but that's just because I only ordered them a little while ago. Anyway, I got an email a few minutes ago saying that they were having problems with processing my visa. I don't know why because it was fine when getting minecraft online and the shoes in a shop and I've haven't given my details to unreliable sites or anything like that. I don't get what's going wrong. Does anyone know what could be happening? (Also, I might just be overreacting and this could be normal. I only turned 16 and got my first debit card 2 months ago so I don't really know much about them) Thank you

The card issuer expects to profit from each transaction by receiving interchange fees; if the card issuer were to allow you to pay using a debit or credit card, the card issuer would be stuck with paying interchange fees, essentially wiping out most or all of their profit.Ordinarily, if one has a debit card, they also have an actual deposit account with a bank, which can be used in an ACH transaction (ACH transactions have their own fees, but this is essentially negligible). There are, some kinds of reloadable prepaid cards (e.g. American Express “Serve” card), which is effectively a “bank account on a card”) which may allow ACH transfers from the account. If so, then you’ll be able to pay your credit card via ACH, but otherwise, your prepaid debit card cannot be used in this manner.
